"Detroit has never sounded so sexy!" A mother/daughter February 2012 NEW TR LINK

I know I always say it but it's worth repeating - you guys take some of the most beautiful pics.
Glad Caitlin had a fun 21st birthday!

Great update and great pics once again!

:rotfl2: Poor Caitlin....I give her credit, there is no way I would be riding anything after a couple of drinks:rotfl2: Good for her!
:rotfl2:

Can't wait to get back to 50's...I think we're going to split the same meal you guys had! We've never tried the fried chicken so I think it's time:goodvibes

Love love love 50s. That fried chicken is so good. That comes from a girl with a country girl grandmother ;). Looks like a fun evening.

The great thing about having a cocktail or two in WDW is that you don't have to drive anywhere.

I did a 3 generation mother daughter trip! My grandmother, mother and I had a blast. Lots of jokes and laughs were had! So much fun! Your TR is great!

We're going Sept. 26- Oct 1st. We had to squeeze it in around Caitlin's classes.

Ah! We miss each other by like, a week! (ok, probably more haha) We'll be down the 10-17th of Sept, for my mom's first trip!

Chef Mickey's is really expensive if you aren't on the dining plan and we just didn't feel it was worth the money.

I feel like I may try it eventually, but for the fab 5, I'd rather to Tusker, where theres some different foods, and you dont have to leave the park for the meal!

Thank you :)

We love the 50's. The chicken is really good and so is there wedge salad. We've shared that as an appetizer.

Yes it is! It reminds me of my southern gramma's chicken too :)

Good point!

We've taken some 3 generation trips too :)
Aww I'm so glad you made so many great memories on your trip :goodvibes

Thank you!

I hope your mom loves it!
I agree that Tusker House is a better choice :thumbsup2

Caitlin is really enjoying this whole 21 thing, isn't she? (: But if you are of age, I guess it is exciting to really roll with the whole fact you are of age. Will have to keep that in mind when I turn 21  And then the work men... oh my gosh, talk about getting into that PG13/R range lol

WOOT! DHS! Can't believe how empty it is there! I don't think I've seen it so quiet there. You lucky two! :D Sorry there weren't any new characters at the Animation Building but it's nice to see some pictures of posters for up-and-coming Disney films :thumbsup2 And I love the little statues in front of the window (though the lack of crowds are nice too ;) )

Awwww, what adorable pictures with Manny and Jake! :thumbsup2 to getting FPs for Star Tours! And I love your pictures around DHS. Oh, Gertie and Roger, trying to get away with everything! ;)

Ooooo... 50's! Totally getting an ADR there on my next trip. ::yes:: LOL @ Mr. I'm-Going-To-Try-And-Drink-Her-Drink-With-An-Extra-Long-Straw, must've been pretty funny in the moment! Guess that's what happens with a smirk like that, mhm... :thumbsup2 to getting an awesome waiter and a TV table! The waiter seems quite the character, love the pictures of him and Caitlin and the chicken looks DELICIOUS (a shame I don't know the actual name though...)

OH gosh, eyes glazing over... well, at least she knows she is drunk.... But it seems Star Tours sobered her up. Oh, the magic of Disney attractions right there haha! And she got to be the Rebel Spy! A shame she didn't get the shirt though, one of these days a DISer needs to go and actually BUY that shirt, all I'm saying lol

Great night pics around DHS, such an interesting park to see at night :goodvibes Can't wait to read about your Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom night at MK, sounds like a fun game! :mickeyjum

Wow, that must have been one strong lemonade! I'm glad Caitlin enjoyed Star Tours, I'm not sure I would have tried it after a strong drink

50s Prime Time is such fun - we took our parents there in November and they loved it...they got so excited every time a new show came on the TV :lmao:

Yes she loves being 21 :rotfl:

That was probably the least busy I have ever seen DHS

I love the pics with Manny and Jake. Since we dont have any little ones we only know the characters names and not anything about them but it was still fun.

She did talk about getting the tshirt but decided against it.

That lemonade is very strong. Her dad was feeling real good after 2 of those last Sept :rolleyes1

That's cute! The tvs add to the fun :)

I am putting up a disclaimer that anyone who doesn't want to have the game spoiled should not read this post! I am serious! If you want to bypass it, it's fine just know we ended up not enjoying it as much as we thought we would.

So we left off after I had sobered up on Star Tours :thumbsup2 I had been looking forward to trying out the new Sorcerer's game and we had been talking about it hoping that it would be open for our trip and it was! We headed over to the Fire Station and got in line with everyone else. It was a huge line! So that meant pictures of the area!

disneyday2666.jpg

When you got to the head of the line you told them that you had either (a) done it before and just wanted more cards or (b) you were new to the game. Since we chose option (b) we had a bit more of a wait till a CM was free to explain the game to us.

We were lead over to a tv screen and Merlin appeared telling us the Magic Kingdom was under attack by the villians and we needed to help stop it! We opened our cards and practiced holding one of them up to the screen to "attack" a monster. I believe we had Mawgli, Flynn Ryder and I forget the other couple ones but I believe there were 5 in a pack.

After we were done practicing we were given a map and told to go to the first stop in Adventureland. We headed over that way having seen the first stop earlier in the day.

Once there we jumped in the long line :headache: Yes long lines would become a common thing with this game... After finding out we were going to fight Yzma the baddie from The Emperor's New Groove we headed over to the next spot. I believe this ended up being the only spot without a wait? We fought a baddie then moved on to the screen inside the counter service in Adventureland.

By this point we were getting tired and just wanted this to be over :headache: Mom looked over the counter at the counter service and it looked like they had a bottle of rum sitting on a counter  Mom was about to say something because alcohol isn't supposed to be allowed in MK but I told her it must be vanilla syrup:confused3 We never found out what it was :confused3

After this screen it was our last stop and this time it was inside of Tortuga Tavern. Another long line :headache: Here are some pictures

This is what you hold up your key to so you can start the game.

This is what you have to stand on

This is one of the screens we were shown

This shows how the game knows what card you are holding up.

After this we headed back home to our hotel for the night. But first we had a popcorn stop.

disneyday2674.jpg

We were headed back during the parade so we had to wait to cross the street and were directed by CMs out. It was quite efficient!

Overall we just didn't like it. It isn't as detailed as KP at Epcot and with all of the long lines the surprise was continuously ruined before you even got to do it. If you are interested go early in the morning either at park opening or if there are morning EMH. Yes it might ruin your first ride on Space or that coveted Splash or BTMRR fast pass but if you want to give it a fair chance you need to go during a low crowd time.

When we got back to the room I started getting ready for the race. "Mom what suitcase are my tennis shoes in?"

Too bad about the lines for SOTMK.
Do you think you would have liked it without the lines and hearing the game ahead of time?
Also, I thought each card was different so that even if you heard the person before you, your spell would be different and provide new animation.
Is that not the case?

Yeah! Update! I didn't even know about that game! And now I am missing all your pics. Sorry it was too crowded and a bit underwhelming.

Please don't tell me you are not going to have a pair of shoes to run in. :faint:

Be back later for pics!

No I was expecting something along the lines of Kim Possible and it just didn't even compare.
The attack would be different but the movie would be exactly the same. The characters said the same thing until the attack and the attack might change but the after effect would be the same.

They just added it before we went so it was new for everyone :thumbsup2

It was horrible. I love KP but this was nothing like that :confused3

:rolleyes1 Can't say...

OK, I'm going to sound like a dork but I'm jealous you got a Flynn Rider card. :rolleyes1

Sorry you didn't care for the game. I thought it was fun but we had one guy sort of ruin where one of the portals was (we were looking for it and he just decided to tell us :confused3). We also found that there are some hardcore gamers who would stand at the portals with their binders full of cards. :rotfl:

I was pretty excited about that card :rotfl:

Aw that is no fun! All of the portals were listed on the map and we had seen them in use throughout our time in Adventureland so only the one in the counter service was a surprise :headache:

We found the same thing! There were some people with stacks of cards
