"Detroit has never sounded so sexy!" A mother/daughter February 2012 NEW TR LINK

Glad to see you updated! I haven't been to Chef Mickeys at the CR since it wasn't Chef Mickeys - it was just a character meal there at the time, and Chef Mickeys was at DTD and it was just Mickey.

I understand what you mean about the characters not giving adults as much attention as tables with kids, don't they realize that adults at disney are just big kids? :)

Awesome that you got that pic with Cinderella's Carriage and the Footmen.

How awesome that you are staying at the GF! I love that resort. It was my dream one and finally stayed there about 2 years ago. You're going to love it. Go on and relive all of the good Tanner moments. :lmao:

I am so with you about the character meals. Dangit, just because I'm an adult doesn't mean that I don't want some good quality character time.

Hi there, I'll admit to lurking too

Amazing how empty MK was first thing - I saw that on our trip back in November...all of a sudden shortly after 10am people started flooding in (including part of my family). It was so nice to wander around for an hour or so without the crowds :thumbsup2

Speaking of crowds, how were they at the Expo? It didn't look too bad in your pic but I've read that it can get pretty crazy.

Loving all the pictures and looking forward to more :goodvibes

It's okay I lurk a lot too :thumbsup2

I love crowdless park mornings!

They didn't look that bad since the Expo is pretty spread out but there were a ton of people there!

Thank you!

Phew, all caught up now!

Wow, that expo looks amazing! I think I would have walked out with a lot of stuff too. Good luck in training for the marathon! That is such an accomlishment in my eyes - any marathon. My friend just ran the Boston marathon earlier this month and she said it was brutal ....because it was record heat for Boston - 90 degrees. I felt so bad for the runners - so many cases of heat exhaustion. Take care of yourself!

Okay, side track over - as usual love the pictures. I agree with your thoughts on Chef Mickey. We have only done it once a long time ago, way before DD was into characters and I felt like it was just so crowded and chaotic. I prefer many other character buffets.

Love the dresses you got. They look so comfy!

It was very cool! I couldn't imagine running in weather that hot! That's why I always run in Disney you just can't beat the weather!

Thank you! It was packed and I prefer the more relaxed ones as well. I really enjoyed Crystal Palace this trip and we also love Tusker House and Cape May :goodvibes

Thank you! They are although I haven't gotten a ton of chances to wear them :headache:

That's cool I never realized it used to be a DTD!

They need to start realizing it because inside the costumes they are adults and should know how we feel!

It was a very cool picture spot!

I am so excited! I booked tea yesterday and I am excited to relax and enjoy the resort! Oh I plan to!

Agreed! They need to become more aware of that!

Cute dresses!

I have to say, while I love the idea of expo's at Disney races I hate the crowds. I've only been during Marathon weekend, and it is always so packed in there that I can only take it for so long!

Luckily it wasn't that crazy but it was still pretty packed! I bet the marathon weekend would be nuts!

What a nice update! Loved all the monorail pictures. Very cute dresses at the Poly - going to have to stop in at the shop on our trip. We eat at Poly twice so that shouldn't be a problem. How great that you got pics with Cinderella's coach - I have only seen it from a distance. Those guys with the coach were TALL! Finally, really liked seeing pictures from the ESPN area - I can't remember seeing them before. The shirts there were so cute - would love to see your beast shirt. The glass sllipper was adorable.
Question for you - are there any walking options in any of these runs? I'm not a runner but I have done walks.

You can't get enough of the monorail!

You have to! They have the cutest stuff there! We ended up there twice too :thumbsup2

It was amazing to see in person! It is so beautiful! I am not sure if they were that tall but I am pretty short :rotfl:

It was really cool to take a look around ESPN and I am looking forward to the Expo during the 10 mile run. The beast shirt was just a blue tank top with black lettering I don't think I ever took a pic of it :confused3 There are walking options you just have to be able to finish a mile in less than 16 minutes.

Well, I am now tow updates behind on pictures because I didn't get home until late last night. :headache:

Grand Floridian????? How did I miss that announcement? That certainly IS exciting! :cool1: You are going to LOVE it there. I can't wait until the DVC opens so I can stay there, even if just for one night! I found the pools and the property to be just amazing.

I eventually will get back here to see the pictures.

You go away for a week and then you gotta try and catch up with the DIS, right? Here goes...

I don't know what I am more excited about...eating at Beast's or the Little Mermaid ride. Tough to decide!

Ooh, that is a tough one!

We passed the Dumbo's Circus area also under construction (since we don't have little ones this doesn't really appeal to me)

Ditto. I never did see Toontown. Just wasn't interested.

We then arrived at Pooh's place

I didn't know (until you posted the pic) that there was a beehive in the tree.

As you can see the park was still almost empty! It was crazy since Touring Plans had rated the day a 10! We figured they were WAY off! (they ended up being right)

Love morning EMH. It's like I own the park and I get it all to myself.

Our first stop was the Jungle Cruise because it was a walk on! We always try and ride the JC twice each trip. Once during the day and again at night! It is seriously like 2 different rides!

Never ridden it at night, I'll have to give that a try next time.

Here's a shock! Caitlin did not take any pics of the cruise! Suprising huh? Yep she just sat back and enjoyed the ride and the corny stale jokes.

Was she ill? Did her camera battery die? Did she have temporary blindness?

Check out the wait time! Now we usually do POTC without much of a wait but I've never seen a sign say anything less than 5 minutes

That's so weird! You'd think they'd just put zero.

It ended up going up to 85 that day and considering it was snowing at home it seemed crazy hot.

I know! And then when you get back home, even if it's 'warm' (in comparison to the temps from before you left) it feels like an ice age is settling in.

When the show ended the princess was hmmm how shall I delicately put this? Cranky? I don't know if it was getting up at 5am or the heat or the humidity or those dumb singing birds but she was not her usual happy self.

Uh, oh. Maybe you should have pinched her and told her, "Honey? You're not dreaming. You really are in the happiest place on earth."

I can't wait til the construction is done! It just takes away from the magic IMO

That's what photoshop is for! :p

Remember how empty the park had been? Well it was about 10am as we rounded the corner toward Main St and suddenly it was absolutely flooded with people! It reminded me of a scene from "The Walking Dead" where all the zombies are coming out of the woods! It was crazy!!!

:lmao: Great analogy!

So did you guess where we were headed? If you're thinking the Confectionary you win! Yep, I knew a sweet treat would brighten her spirits and I was right!

Well, I guess that would be less painful than a pinch. Tastier, too.

Hmmmm, decisions, decisions

Great, now I have to go clean the drool out of my keyboard. :lmao:

Actually, that's kinda gross, no? Forget I said that.

Now that I am older I sort of resent the character meals and how little time they spend with me. Just because I am an adult doesn't mean I don't want a little character lovin! :guilty:

Interesting. I never really got into the characters. I'd rather be left alone so I can enjoy my meal.

We got on the monorail and headed over to the Poly! We needed to head to ESPN to get our race packets. If you remember my mom got bronchitis before our race so she wouldn't be able to compete :guilty:

I do remember, and that's too bad.

I (of course) did some shopping!

Shopping? You? I'm shocked! Shocked!

I bought both of those dresses and one of them show up a little later this day

Both very nice. :thumbsup2

On our way to the Expo site we saw that they had Cinderella's Carriage out so of course I had to get a pic!

But of course. :)

It was packed in there! There were tons of different booths and different giveaways! It was like a workoutaholics dream!

Your new home away from home???

I really wanted this t shirt but unfortunately they didn't sell one small enough :headache:

Too bad, it's a great shirt.

Now you are all aware that I am a princess and I believe this would be the perfect glass slipper for me!

:lmao:

It was fun exploring the expo and we walked away with a lot of free stuff! It also made me super excited for my run in September! Yep I am participating in the Tower of Terror 10 mile!!!! I have already begun training and honestly can not wait!

Good for you!

Up Next:
Time back at the resort
"Don't worry he is an alcoholic"
"Should you really let her ride Star Tours?"

Sounds like a good one! Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes

Thanks for talking about the expo at Espn! I can't wait to do a run there. I've been training with my mom for a 5k that's coming up in the summer (called the color run). Never have been a runner; always have gone for many walks though. We're doing the coach to 5k program and are on week 5 now. Our goal is to do a 5k in Disney and eventually a half marathon in Disney. Any tips for us with running? So far we're doing well! I think what has helped is that we've always been walkers so we're not new to exercise...just new to running!

PS. Love the dresses! Especially the second one. Cute. :)

Aw hope everything is going well for you! I really need to catch up on your TR!

We just announced it :rotfl: I am so excited!!! I think the area is beautiful and so serene!

Hope you like the pics!

Interesting. I never really got into the characters. I'd rather be left alone so I can enjoy my meal.

There is just something about hugging a real life stuffed animal that gets me :rotfl:

I do remember, and that's too bad.

Yeah it wasn't easy for her not to participate the day of!

Shopping? You? I'm shocked! Shocked!

Who woulda thunk?!

Both very nice. :thumbsup2

Thank you!

But of course. :)

Your new home away from home???

Definitely! I could have spent hours wondering around looking at all of the cool merchandise!

Too bad, it's a great shirt.

I know! I wish they sold it in kid's sizes!

:lmao:

:thumbsup2

Good for you!

Thank you!

Sounds like a good one! Thanks for the chapter! :goodvibes

Yea you know how I said I didn't almost get kciked out of Raglan Road but it was close at some other restaurants :rolleyes1 Let's just say my mom has to write this update...

I hope you two rock the 5k! My only advice is to eat a lot of protein! I have become addicted to fish fajitas and the better your diet is the easier it is to run :thumbsup2 Protein bars, chicken, fish and egg whites are the staple of my diet and not only will your body feel better but your run time should improve as well!

Thank you!

So many wonderful photos. I can't even start to pick my fav, but I really like the one with the camel spitting water.

You also took some great character pics (well, I guess you mom did of you). I hate when the characters snub me too, cause I think they should treat everyone the same! They know that adults are excited to see them too!

I do like that one! I kept saying "Wow I don't remember that pic" while I was going through photobucket :rotfl:

I agree!

YAY CHEF MICKEY'S! Always wanted to check that place out, especially with it being in a resort as beautiful as the Contemporary. Love your little place mat, so cute :) And great pictures with the characters, it's a shame they didn't stay around too much (as if adults don't want to hang out with the characters more than kids :rolleyes1), but at least good ole' Donald came back, what a guy :goodvibes Thumbs up to the cupcake, does look very good (:

Love your pictures at the Poly! :thumbsup2 to shopping around Boutiki (and the picture of the peeking Tiki!) And the Wide World of Sports looks really cool! Never been there yet :/ So cool you got to get a picture in front of Cinderella's carriage. Too bad they can't let you sit in it though. ): Love all the merchandise at the Expo, especially the running shoe/glass slipper, very cool and I love the pin you got. It's a shame you and your mom didn't run together, but that's awesome you are going to be running again in September. Good luck with that :teeth:

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

It is somewhere everyone should go once :thumbsup2 Yeah we were there for quite a while waiting for our check :headache:

Hi Ladies! :)

Just read your report so far during my lunch break.

I love how you're sharing the duties. :) POR looks gorgeous, I'm getting more and more tempted to stay there next trip.

You're so lucky staying in the Floridian next time, it's an amazing resort, but be warned it makes it hard to stay elsewhere afterwards! ;)

Can't wait for more updates.

Welcome!

I hope you are enjoying it so far! Sharing the responsibilities makes it easier on both of our schedules :thumbsup2

POR is a great resort and we seriously considered staying there again on our next trip!

I have no doubt about that! We are doing a BW club level and GF split stay so it will be hard to go back to POP again  We love our Deluxs but we handle staying at cheap resorts just so we can go back twice a year :cloud9:

sorry there wasn't a whole lot of character love at Chef Mickey's:rotfl: One of my reservations this trip is for Cape May Buffet - I think I actually read about it in one of your trip reports - DS is a pretty picky eater for an 18 y.o., so a buffet works well for us, he is picky, but he is also a big eater when it comes to his favorite foods. Cape May looks like it has choices for both of us, seafood for me and hopefully things he will enjoy, like fried chicken, pizza, biscuits - his criteria is pretty much anything he can pick up and eat with his hands:thumbsup2 I can't wait to try Via Napoli - that's also one of our reservations.

Loved your last update- as always the pics are so great!!! We usually do chef mickeys for breakfast since we stay at BLT, but our last trip we did it for dinner. It took forever to seat us :(. I have noticed the last couple of times the characters are a little less than bubbly even with our 4 yr old.

Your dresses are too cute :)

We have Chef Mickey's booked this trip for a dinner too. I hope the characters are better in July :( It will just be myself (32) and my cousin (18), so no kiddos with us either. This will be her first and only character dinner, so I hope they are good. But its on our last night, so we should get some good character lovin at the parks throughout the week
