Details on Polynesian Villas purchase?

Is it safe to assume that all Poly studios will be STD except for the lagoon-facing studios in Moorea?

So if I already have existing contract with an April UY, if I do a add-on on Poly, will it also be April UY? Is it possible to pick a different UY (i.e. June) so I can also get the 2014 points, or is that not worth the hassle?

You'll have two different contracts if you do that. The only hassle is if you see it that way. It's smarter to choose UY based on your banking deadline (make it the month before the three-month period during which you're less likely to travel). Unless you really need those 2014 points. I agree they'll be nice to have, almost seeming like a bonus.

I just asked this same question of my guide. I also have an April use year. We tend to travel summer and December. I really want a separate use year to better match our December travel time. She said it can be done, but she has to get approval. 50 point minimum for new use year.

that is what "add on" means. you are adding on to your existing membership.

1) it is possible
2) it requires you to buy a new membership (100 pts or 160 pts or whatever DVC's minimum is for new members)
3) it's really not worth the hassle IMO

So, if i buy a Sept UY, I will get '2014' points, and have double the amount the first year?

AWESOME! I can get a 1 bedroom then!

oh, wait........

Thank you for the dates regarding booking.

I haven't seen any pricing on fixed weeks except for this comment. And I don't know what it means. :confused3 Are they charging less points for one season for a fixed week than if you just use points? Then are they charging more points for fixed weeks all other weeks--like 10% more like they did for Aulani and VGF?

Any details on how connecting studios will be booked? 1 reservation?

Guide wasn't clear on this. I asked if it would be a separate booking category and she said you'd just book 2 studios as one reservation. I guess the final answer will come in February when people can start booking reservations.

Yes. Moorea has 72 lake view and 70 std view....all the others are std view.

Have you confirmed this with DVC? As Tikiman pointed out to me, Tokelau has two rooms that face the lagoon that could be classified as Lake View. I'm assuming all three floors of Moorea's north side will be Lake View, but its possible that only the second and three floor villas will be classified as such.

Aah I see, weeks 51 and 52 are lower totals than what the point chart shows for a Premier week (227). However, the regular Point chart is only considering a week in the premier season, but the December weeks of 51 and 52 actually cross over into Adventure season which has much cheaper points which average out to the 206 over the length of the contract.

Thanks dizfan for supplying the fixed week point chart.

Yes, was just there today and that's what their info stated. I copied it directly from the guide's "cheat sheet" binder :)! I didn't ask how many rooms per floor but it would seem reasonable that only the second and third floors of Moorea would be classified as lake view as the others would mostly be a bungalow view.

If there are 72 Lake View studios, then it will include all of the villas on Moorea's north side, including those on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors. Moorea has 24 studios on each of the three floors facing the lagoon, which would account for the 72 Lake View studios.

Thanks for clarifying this!

So somewhere in the neighborhood of 290 standard view studios?

Then get the approval! :)

April isn't awful for December travel. If you cancel more than 30 days in advance that would be in November and if the points were eligible to be banked you could still do that. Where it would provide more insurance is on a 30 day or less cancellation where the points went into holding. With an April UY you'd have 4+ months to use the points before they expired but if you were to get a Dec UY then you'd have approx 11 months although you couldn't make the reservations further than 60 days ahead of your travel because of the holding status. Then it's weighing that benefit vs having a second UY.

I've been trying to bring about world peace and find a cure for the common cold. Do I dare take on yet another V&V thread???
