Designer jeans

Oh ya! It's my golden rule when I buy new jeans. Before I wear them, they get the vinegar treatment and it works EVERY TIME......almost. It didn't work this time. So, they are history.

I would pay more for the jeans if I knew for SURE they were 100% American Made.

True Religion jeans are American made. Joes Jeans are too.

True Religion and Joes are my favorite jeans. The one thing that drives me nuts about designer jeans is how long they are. I have to hem them so much.

I think I've been teleported back to 1982:scared: I wanted Jordache, Sasson, Calvin Kleins, etc.... because they were COOL. But I was POOR when I was a kid. So my mom got a patch and sewed "Fannys" to the pocket on the back of my jeans. I thought it was the end of the world....suprisingly it wasn't!

I will take my mom jeans (which I love) and leave now.:wave2:

TR's are very long, but fortunately there is a great tailor shop down the road from me that only charges $10 to hem them, that includes keeping the original hem (big deal for TR's with the design of the original hem).

I just saw an advertisement in a magazine for a pair of jeans that cost over $200! My question is, does anyone here own a pair of designer jeans? Are they REALLY that much better? I sweat when I pay $50 for jeans.

I did splurge once on a pair of Calvin Klein jeans. While they fit really well, the color ran FOREVER! I did everything Heloise and Martha told me too, and they would NOT STOP RUNNING. The inside of my dryer is tinted blue now :rotfl:. I ended up throwing them out (along with a few shirts and shoes the jeans ruined). I've never had this happen with any other jeans I've owned.

I would say yes they are worth it however we shop second hand & thrift stores for them.;)

Joe's don't fit me well... but I haven't tried them since losing weight, so maybe I'll need to look at them again!

I love how long designer jeans come. I'm at a weird height where regular length is just a tad too short to wear with boots (or a heel), but longs are way too long. Designer jeans fit with little alteration on the hem line which I love.

No matter what... everyone can benefit from a little alteration and that can make all the difference, designer jean or not a designer jean!!

I had to check them out after you bragged on how comfy they are and that they're American made. Let's just say after checking the price, I'm glad I didn't care for the look :rotfl:

I hem them myself. I keep the original hem. The only times its a problem is with something that is really long with a decent flair or the twisted seams. There have been some jeans I had to take 6+ inches off. Sometimes the twisted seams are annoying to hem but when you have to hem all of your pants you become pretty good at doing it yourself.

goodwill for me. It doesn't matter what brand they are, as long as they fit and the colors are right (I usually add a little "bell" to my jeans so I buy 2 pair that match in color) I don't remember the last time I paid more then 10 dollars for jeans.

I'll probably get ridiculed now. :goodvibes

Goodwill is a great place to get great deals, especially on name brand stuff :thumbsup2

Honestly, I haven't paid over that for a pair of jeans in a while either. I have one pair of TRs I got at the outlet but that was years ago. The rest I've found at thrift stores. There are certain brands of jeans I do look for at thrift stores and I buy them whether I need new jeans or not.

I absolutely think there is a difference in the quality between designer and oher jeans. At thrift stores all jeans are lumped together on the same racks. There are certain jean brands I am drawn too by the look and/or feel before I know what brand the are.

All of my current jeans are WHBM. I love them. They are the best fitting, most comfortable jeans I've ever owned. They're not too expensive but not cheap.

I love, love my Rag & Bones and my Eli Tahari jeans - incredibly soft and comfortable as well as flattering so absolutely worth it to me.

And, forget the vinegar washing trick - run out and by Shout's Color Catcher. Throw a sheet (they look a little like a bounce sheet) in the wash and you will never, ever have to throw out any again due to dyes running on things. When you unload the washer, you'll see any bits of dye is all caught on that little sheet. It's fabulous!

Designer jeans are absolutely worth it to me-- True Religion is my absolute favorite for the fit, look, comfort, and the fact that they're American made. They're 100% worth the price, though I'll try to buy them at the outlets or Nordstrom Rack instead of paying full price. I tend to like the simpler designs, though, without too much crazy stuff going on on the butt!
I also love Rock & Republic, Lucky, Hudson, and JBrand.

Nope. Old Navy is the only place I buy jeans. And I refuse to buy them if they are not on sale, too :)

I remember "back in the day" begging my mom for Girbaud jeans. She bought them for me. I will do the same with my kids, too. I know how hard it can be to stick out with "off brand" stuff...

I think designer jeans are worth it. In my experience they last much longer than the cheaper kind. I've had several pairs for about 5 years and even have one pair that I've had for 9 years! So even though they are more expensive, I don't buy them too often.

I typically buy jeans from the outlets or when I find them on sale (7 for all mankind, Joe's, and Citizens all have outlets near Disney!).

I also think they tend to keep their shape better throughout the day.

Most of my jeans are thrift store/consignment shop, but some of my favorites of them are Ralph Lauren. I have found 3 pair in the same style, different washes, so that was lucky. The rest of mine are just random cheaper brands.

I have found that one style of Silver jeans fits DD14 well and looks very cute- we found the first pair at the consignment. Now I have a search on eBay set up so when new ones are listed I get an email. I'll bid on them up to about $30 + shipping. Never bought them at retail! She just got a pair of Silver jeans in a different style at the thrift store a couple weeks ago. Don't fit as well as the others, but they'll do (and if she gets tired of them I can get my $6.95 back selling them on eBay). I like to find her cool looking jeans...and the Silvers can have a distinctive enough pockets that other kids do notice...right or wrong, it helps to have the cool stuff. Just glad we can do it on a budget.

I don't, but my DS wears True Religion. I will say they do look nice on him. He is tall and they are long enough which is sometimes hard for him to find

I do wear designer jeans, I usually stick to Ralph Lauren, DKNY or Calvin Klein. I have a hard time finding jeans I feel like most made nowadays are low-rise and I don't like that. I don't pay full price though I wait until they are on sale.

Back in high school I had some J.Lo and DKNY jeans that fit extremely well. I do not fit into them anymore but still have them in hopes that maybe someday I will. I now wear Levis, mostly the 505 straight fit. They fit nice for the price and look pretty good.
