My lifestyle is incompatible with designer jeans - my jeans get hard use and I don't spend so much that I'll stress over stains or tears. I do splurge on the occasional designer item that I expect will last many years, like a little black dress or dressy winter coat. There is often some quality difference, particularly in the cut/fit, that makes it worth the extra money for pieces that I know will stay nice for a long time. Just not for jeans that might get torn up in the garden or grass stained playing with the kids on any given day.
Although, after the last time I went jeans shopping I might have been willing to drop a hundred bucks or more if I'd come across a pair of non-skinny, non-whiskered, non-distressed, non-super-low-rise, and on the other end of the spectrum, non-high-wasted, non-elastic, non-Mom-jeans that fit! But from what I've seen, designer or not doesn't matter much on that count - the skinny trend, the weird finishes, and the high-water cut are everywhere.

If I could afford it, I probably would. My current favorites are at Lane Bryant and I simply will not buy them unless they are on sale.
. Aint nobody shopping there (me included) are skinny.
