Designer jeans

My lifestyle is incompatible with designer jeans - my jeans get hard use and I don't spend so much that I'll stress over stains or tears. I do splurge on the occasional designer item that I expect will last many years, like a little black dress or dressy winter coat. There is often some quality difference, particularly in the cut/fit, that makes it worth the extra money for pieces that I know will stay nice for a long time. Just not for jeans that might get torn up in the garden or grass stained playing with the kids on any given day.

Although, after the last time I went jeans shopping I might have been willing to drop a hundred bucks or more if I'd come across a pair of non-skinny, non-whiskered, non-distressed, non-super-low-rise, and on the other end of the spectrum, non-high-wasted, non-elastic, non-Mom-jeans that fit! But from what I've seen, designer or not doesn't matter much on that count - the skinny trend, the weird finishes, and the high-water cut are everywhere.

No most of my jeans are from Gap or Banana republic.

I loooooove my Miss Me Jeans!

Other than the fact that I love their extra long lengths, who doesn't love having a sparkly hiney!?!? :)

Where's the Tag Fairy when you need her? ;)

Personally speaking, the day I pay $200 for a pair of jeans is the day Hell freezes over. All my jeans come from either Walmart or Goodwill. Cuz that's just how I roll.

i tried on some Joe Jeans, TRs and Paige this weekend at our Saks outlet. i hated the Paige ones. the other two brands were about a foot too long. i think chopping off that much of them hem would change the entire look of the jean. sometimes, they have Hudson jeans at the outlet, but i couldn't find any on Saturday. i also tried on some at Lucky that i liked. but of course the ones i wanted weren't on sale. that irritated me, so i didn't buy anything. i'm so weird that way.

i have some jeans from Gap that i love, but i got them on clearance for $15. i need them in a smaller size now. the current version in the store has different back pockets. i don't love them as much. :(

one of our TJMaxx stores has the higher end brands, but i haven't made it over there in awhile. i would love to find some nicer jeans there.

i also still love my Levi's.

Um, hate to break it to you but get to shopping :rotfl:

Hell Michigan is about 20 miles away from me. And I'm here to tell you Hell does freeze over almost every winter.

It actually doesn't, if you have your tailor keep (reattach) the original hem! I am 5'1", and I've got Joe's, Sevens, Paige, Red Engine, etc., all of which I've had tailored/shortened, and you'd never know. I buy most of my jeans at a store with a tailor on staff, but any good tailor should be able to do it - it's usually only about $15-20.

I will buy Silver brand jeans on clearance at Macy's, Maurices, or Torrid, mostly online. I pay around $9 to $20 and turn around and sell them on EBay for $90. Size 16 and 18 are huge sellers. The trick is to put them in your basket at an online store, and check the prices and coupon codes daily.

I so have a few pair of Silver jeans. I don't like one of them, and I am selling them on EBay with out tags. Then are bidding right now for $55. I paid $45, so I already am making a profit.

i thought of this thread last night. i have been trying to find flattering jeans since i've recently lost weight. i tried on some clearance Miss Me jeans (sparkly toosh and all) and some Silver jeans. i loved them both.

i'll admit that some of the sparkly tooshes are a bit too much for me. but the clearance pair i found wasn't bad at all!

I'm dying to go to the Lucky store in the mall down in Charlotte. I'd like to own ONE nice pair of jeans...that I don't wear around the barn daily!

I'm with you! I buy most of my jeans at Goodwill, because they just end up at the barn.. two of my favorite pair are Wranglers that GW had on sale for $1.99!

Now my horse show clothes are a different story.... spent 3x the cost of my wedding dress on my show suit...

For those of us who have a wide caboose, most designer brands don't fit. Also, the I don't need sparkle on my hiney, you can't miss it.

As to spending the $200, I am not sure. If the fit was good, then maybe. I have a small waist, so it is a challenge to find jeans that fit in the hiney/hips/thighs area and that also fits my waist. Since most designer jeans don't go up to my size, I might not ever find out.

how far are you from Mebane? there is a Lucky outlet at the Tanger outlets there. that's where I've bought Lucky jeans in the past.

i have the opposite problem as some--i carry my extra weight in my stomach and my hips/butt are smaller. i felt a little silly looking at the jeans in the juniors department, but they fit my toosh better. i think it will take me awhile to get used to the sparkly hiney though.

I haven't worn designer jeans since 7th grade when Jordache were in vogue. ;)

I wear either Levi's or Old Navy sweeheart fit.

The most comfortable jeans I have ever worn were on sale for $39. I can't see paying $200 for a pair of jeans when I can get something I love for $39.

AMEN :) I really don't want a spotlight back there:lmao: If I could afford it, I probably would. My current favorites are at Lane Bryant and I simply will not buy them unless they are on sale.

I really don't understand why they are carrying "Skinny jeans" at Lane Bryant and Torrid though :confused3. Aint nobody shopping there (me included) are skinny.
