Demagnetized passes

I dunno about the phone-card distance thing, but I have been carrying my room key, park pass, drivers license, and PhotoPass card in the same neck lanyard for years and have never had one demagnetize on me.

I wonder sometimes why I have never had a card demagnetize when they are all in the same pouch around my neck. Is it because I an anal enough to always put them in the same way, so the magnetic stripes never touch one another? Or is it because they are not in my pocket, so they are never heated up by my body heat and never have pressure put on them by sitting?

Tough call, but considering how long as I have been keeping those cards together in a neck lanyard, I think there must be something more to this "cards demagnetizing each other" thing than simple proximity.

I have been carrying my annual pass around with my credit cards all year with no problems.

We had two different park passes demagnetize on us when we visited in July. Each on of my DD's had it happen.

I find it strange that we can carry a park pass around for one day and have a credit card demagnetize it. But, we carry credit cards for years, and I have never had a problem with another credit card demagnetizing them. Same technology, right?

I wanted to get one of those PassPorter PassHolder Pouches that go around your neck. That way I could carry everyone's cards. Now I am kinda worried.

Had it happen a few years ago at WDW - it was my self closing "Liz" bag I had been so thrilled to get for the trip. The sneaky little magnets are used everywhere - wallets, purses, backpacks -

One of those conveniences that messes with the cards! Happens lots...

Distance from cell phones:

This will vary from cell phone to cell phone due to different technologies and different services. It will also vary for how many calls you receive and/or if you go into roam mode ( cell phones in roam typically juice out a little more than ones with a strong signal ).

I would think the cell on the left side of the fanny pack, and tickets on the right side of the fanny pack would be fine, but having one in the front and the other in the rear sepperated only by fabric may not be the greatest for them.

I have never had a problem with my AP and I carry it in my wallet with all of my CC's and DL's. Now DS carries only his DL's and AP in his wallet and we have had to replace it 3 times. It's not really a problem, a quick trip to the podium by the turnstyles and voila, a new AP.

Yeah, It's really odd how some tickets get demaged, and others do not.

My current cast ID, I've had since March of this year, and it's been in the same pocket as my magnetic nametag before, next to my credit cards, ect. It is made from similar cardstock as the resort cards.

I have paper comp tickets in my wallet that have been there for a couple months next to all my other magnetic cards (credit, debit, ect ) and they are still fine too. It's weird, and almost unpredictable on how they go south.
