Goofy4tink--we just came back from Feb vacation in Ft Myers, not Orlando, but here's my take:

If you are flying out the Thurs, Fri, or Saturday just before Feb break, definitely book at the 331 day mark. What we did for this past trip, was have DH get online at 3am when he gets up for work (yep, he's up by 3:15 AM every morning) and book them them. It seems like the website does not roll into new days until midnight, west coast time. If you are not using FF miles, you should be OK booking online the very next morning, as early as you can make it. If you are booking with FF miles, you need to be on the phone, AT midnight, with a rep here on the East Coast, otherwise they won't have the fares available.

We paid $249 direct, non-stop BOS to Ft Myers last year. I was pleased with that price, for Feb vacation.

Good Luck--I already have my dates circled for when we can buy tickets for next year. We'll be doing BOS-MCO then RSW-BOS.

Thanks, that helps a lot. $250 range is most doable!!! Now to just figure out when our Feb vacation is here in central Ma!!!

President's Day is the 20th and Feb vacation is always that week. My plan is to fly out on the last Delta flight Tuesday the 14th,(02.14.06) and DS will miss Weds, Thurs, Friday. We'll do Disney from Wednesday-Sunday and then drive down to Bonita Springs, and stay until Saturday, and fly home Saturday evening, or first thing Sunday morning. DH will be up booking those flights on 3.20.05

The other tip, is if you are booking right at the 331 day window, you will need to book 2 one way tickets. Which is normally fine, just understand you might get flagged for additional security screening at the checkpoints (which happened to my 7 year old this past trip) Like I said, not a big deal, just something else to be aware of........

Geez, I sound just a tad obsessed here, don't I? But, after growing up watching my mom do this every year since she was a teacher, I learned a few tricks!

Why, some of my favorite people are travel OCD!!! Oh man, March 20 is the start of my PS for June trip. More sleep deprivation going to be happening!!!
