I'm going to Michaels after work today to get my signature frame. Yay! Custom framing is 50% off, so I'll buy a regular frame and then get a mat custom made. With the amount of people we'll have signing I need a lot of space. All the pre-made signature frames I've found have a large frame, but also a large picture taking up a lot of space.

I don't know if you know, but the matting won't be half off. It's only if you get a custom frame when everything else is 50% off. But, for a 16x20 mat with the lowest price code (just your regular mat, nothing fancy of course like the suede) it shouldn't cost you more than $20.

And I know, it's soooo sad about the officers who have been shot. They found the guy at the pawn shop not too far from my house. Maybe a 15 minute drive. And he was in Southwest Ranches at one point they said? That's right down the street from where I work!

Hi Kristen, I also live in the same area and am just reeling from what has been going on the last few months here. My dh is a deputy for this county as well.... No, I used to work at Michaels for three years and was in the framing department for half of that. But that's good you got the mat half off! Cut costs wherever you can!!

The crinnie is 2 boxes of evening blue, 1 teal and half a box of royal blue. I used everything I bought except the kelly green!

the rit dye people need to start sponsoring this board...the three of us have used over a dozen boxes to dye 7 crinnies...

I think I originally bought 8 boxes of royal blue. I used 6 boxes total. I am soooooooo happy with all of our results!

When you got your mat at Michaels, did you just show the 50% off coupon? I assumed they wouldn't let me use it on just the mat, but I'm more than happy to give it a shot. I need to decide what I want done. I'd like to frame a wedding photo and something else in the frame. I bought a frame already from Michaels.

Question for you Tami... Should I have my ardent blue mat signed with a silver pen, or black? sharpie or acid free pen?

How dark is that? It's been a while since I have even stepped foot in Michaels. Once I quit it was a while before I wanted to go back.

If it's lighter, I would go with black, and definitely acid free. I'm not sure, but you might be able to find acid free sharpies. You don't want to look back in 50 years and everything be ruined. And don't use masking tape to keep your picture in place. Acid in that will ruin the picture, and eventually, the tape falls apart and starts to smell like pee If you can, use photo corners on acid free backing (foamcore if you can fit it in the frame). If photo corners are going to show, even if you trim them as much as you can, then ask Michaels for a couple pieces of framers tape.
