define tee shirts

its not so much that she asked. I think its crap that shes let others get away with it for year. Yes I may ocationally wore a shirts that I knew were tees but I was good. I wasnt the teacher in the mini skirt or the dress that showed all. The shoe this is so annoying, clean shoe fine, but polished? thats a bit much. If anything she should be complaining about all the sandels were not suposted to wear on the playground that all the teachers (minius us few sneeker wearers) do.
Humm according to old navy most of my shirts are ok. Darn no more police fridays (kids will be sad, they love my police tee).

Is there an real College that you attend to get this associties degree?

Honestly, your every post has misspelled words, run on sentences, etc. Are these subjects you teach at the pre-school?

I hope spelling and language are not taught in preschool, but I did notice what you are talking about and had to wonder myself about her writing skills.

BUT, I do have to say that my immediate supervisor is working on her PhD and has me proof read every email, memo and letter she sends out. She cannot spell and knows very little about sentence structure. I do not proof her papers for school though and have often wondered how she possibly passes those papers with the mistakes I know they have.

If her associates degree is the same as the technical program at our community college, she is not having to take a lot of English Comp, writing type classes (maybe just Eng. Comp I and II) She would mainly be taking classes that deal directly with the care and teaching of young children, childhood development and that kind of thing.

You know what, I dont worry about spelling on message boards. When at work, i do. Is this work? No, so its not important. Most of my students cant even write there name, let alone understand a run on sentance. Oh wait I forget the spelling police live here.

Is there an real College that you attend to get this associties degree? Yes there is not that its any of your buineness! Also the spell check on here wont download for me, so I dont have spell check.

this is why I dont post alot. I go elsewere for advice. Mabey I should do it more.

luvs makes a good point. Does it matter if im certified? I am certified, Im actully lead teacher qualified, two classes away from an assocites degree.

I think it matters to some parents. It would matter to me.

Can you use your certification to teach in a public school? What ages are you certified to teach? Birth - 2nd, K-6

NYC day care center teachers(in city-funded centers) must meet the same educational/certification requirements as public school teachers.

I had no idea there were states that would grant teaching licenses to people without four year degrees.

Hint-learn to spell the degree you are trying to get.

But most education courses are writing intensive.

A poor writer would have a difficult time passing the state certification examinations. Each section of the exam contains a writing component.

birth to pre k right now. In my area you dont need a licenece you need certain classes. I have MORE than the classes I need. My parents are happy with who I am and what there kids are learning. ive taken 4 english classes thank you and got As in all of them. Again on the board I could care less about spelling and stuff.

A university English professor I took a composition class with once told us she was living proof that you could have a PhD in English without being able to spell. :goodvibes

I don't think the OP ever said she was certified to teach PUBLIC SCHOOL. There are different types of certification and I imagine that the OP has some child care certifications. An associate degree can be a start to work towards a further degree if one chooses. It is not even required at many child care centers for teachers to have ANY certification. And I don't think it has anything to do with the OP's question about t-shirts.:confused3

I taught pre-K/Kindergarten for 7 years before I was officially certified. Yes, I had a piece of paper saying I was initially certified, but that just means a person is qualified to get certified. I took classes for 5 years part time to become officially certified to teach B-K, and then took a 2 hour test to qualify me to teach K-6. And guess what? I don't feel like I learned a dang thing in those classes! What I learned, I learned in my 12 month MOntessori education courses and through actual interaction with the kids. I spent a lot of time and money to get a piece of paper that said what I already knew; that I was a TEACHER.

OP, just know that every workplace has the people you are talking about. I left one school thinking I would get away from it, only to discover the same thing at my new school. It is what happens when a bunch of women work together(or at least that is my feeling) It's like high school all over again, and you just have to ignore it.

Marsha

I do alot of ignoring but it irrates me most that my boss cant seem to handle the major issues, such as two teachers bullyuing another to the point where she wont go anywere near there classrooms (which is hard casue all 3 preschool classrooms are linked. So are the infant, todds, todds + and twos)

Correct. The OP is a early childhood daycare teacher, she is not teaching elementary school.

Maybe this is why some people are also confused about the t-shirt issue. There are schools with dresscodes that don't allow t-shirts. I honestly can't even imagine a daycare that doesn't allow plain teeshirt style shirts.

its not so much the job but some of the other teachers. I love the kids, thats the only thing that matters. I love the daily routines, I love what I do in the classroom, I just dont like some of the other teachers.
But now you also don't like some of the rules, i.e. the dress code.

Very respectfully, there aren't just spelling errors at issue. There are also instances of incorrect sentence construction, using just plain wrong words, punctuation omissions, not saying what is apparently meant...

This isn't criticism. It's merely observations.

When we used daycare most of the workers wore scrubs.

Honestly, if I were you I WOULD concern myself with these issues if you are in the education field. Now if you are content to simply be a babysitter at a daycare-then carry on with all the energy you are devoting to the T Shirt issue.:confused3

One thing you need to learn if you are going to stay in the education field is that you better start caring about how you present yourself in public as well as in school, and these boards are considered public. One of your parents will eventually find you here or on another board, facebook, wherever. They will quickly lose any respect they have for you if they ever read about your numerous rants about every aspect of your life, as well as your poor spelling, lack of punctuation and sentence structure.

Your boss may find you here and if any of the parents complain about you and your "ability" to teach because of how you present yourself on the internet, be prepared to lose your job. Also, good luck finding a new job as employers are not checking facebook, myspace and other sites to see what kind of employees they may be hiring.

Download the Google toolbar and there is a spell check feature there that works with most message boards. I can't spell worth a darn but I do care about that so I make accommodations, like using spell check.

I know you are very young but you need to start learning how to deal with other people better, everyone from your landlord to your co-workers to your boss. You will NEVER find a perfect work situation and unless you realize that you will never be happy.

I don't think there is any reason to bring up people spelling errors. I myself could care less. I know I make tons and tons of mistakes. I wouldn't want to be judged on them.

Ain't it the truth?! Working in education, I have been shocked at the people who have high degrees but cannot spell or write or speak grammatically correct to save their lives!!

I guess that's why they invented spell check and gave them employees that spell check for them. :rotfl:

To each their own. Personally, I'd consider pulling my kid from a teacher's class if I saw his teacher posting that way.

happy- wacth out for the spelling police.
This thread has gotten totally OT. Reminds me not to ask questions. Back to lurking or leaving
