If you are booking a one-bedroom at VWL, why would you ask for a dedicated versus a lock-off. I can understand why someone would request one or the other with a two bedroom, but why would it make any difference if you are booking a one bedroom?

It's more quiet if you don't have that connecting door in the living room. All 5 times I've stayed at BWV in a 1 bedroom we had a dedicated.

I think some people prefer the dedicated over the lock off 1BR because of the noise factor that can come from the door between the studio and the 1BR. I guess the dedicated would be a little quieter. I have stayed in the lock-off before and noise was not a problem for me, but I believe I've seen others report that they felt the lock-offs were a little noisier.

I've never stayed at VWL, but the dedicated rooms tend to have more closet space since the 2nd bedroom doesn't have the door leading into the hallway, nor does it have the kitchenette.

We're deciding the same thing. The dedicated 2bdrm does not have the kitchenette. But if you got a 2bdrm that was made of a 1bdrm and a studio (which looking at the floorplan most are) you would get the kitchenette.

I have a ressie for DH and I and our 2yr old for a 1bdrm. Our single friend is coming too and instead of getting a studio for him we may just get a 2bdrm and request the lockoff...same thing as our 1bdrm and his studio but if DS is sleeping we can still hang out w/ our friend (in his studio portion) w/o leaving the room so to speak.

Does this sound correct? It's cheaper too!!

In addition to the above, a dedicated has a real bedroom instead of a pull-out couch which is used as the bed (studio set up). It makes a difference to those who don't like pull-outs to sleep on.

*edited: never mind - I didn't finish reading the last portion about the question referring to only a 1 bedroom dedicated. My answer is referring to a 2br. It's late, you know - the brain isn't working well this late at night.

I believe the lock-off has it's own temperature controls. Might be important if some one had "issues" with it being too hot or cold in the unit.
