Dedicated December Exercise Thread

Okay a bit of my bio for the sharing. I've been raising my daughter alone since she was 3. Dated briefly a couple times but then was without a job and just nothing full time and steady has been back so I really don't even look. I'd like to have another child or two some day so maybe one day before too long, reaching an age that is just too close to being out of reach if I don't get there soon. I've lived in AZ or FL all of my adult life. I moved to Az at 12 with mom, leaving midwest(Illinois and Iowa) behind. So haven't really seen true snow in that long. Once from airport transferring in Chicago on a flight back from Florida. And then some left over from a dumping they go up north of us a couple hour drive. Nothing major. Was just some remains in the shaded woods area. That was the one and only time my dd(11) has seen/experienced real snow and she still has yet to feel it falling on her skin.

I hope to make it to WDW sometime next year hopefully explore all parks with dd and family that live there. My dd has only been to Magic Kingdom(twice, once at 2 and again at just shy of 6 and doesn't really remember much from either trips). That trip would likely be later in the year depending on how soon I could get some vacation time. :rolleyes1 We may make it to Disneyland and California Adventures in spring if all goes well. So ready for a disney adventure its been a few years. Last "trip"(we actually lived in Lakeland then) was in 2009 when a friend came out with her kids. I didn't really have time to take off but managed two days. One for MK and one for Sea World with them.

Texas mom here. We're big Aggie fans (Texas A&M), so that's where the screen name comes from. 2 kids in college, the 'baby' is a high school junior. Started walking/running to help fill the empty nest time....I've been married to my honey for over 25 yrs!

Since I've only been thru the airport in NY, it's neat to see so many New Yorkers on here...nice to meet y'all! :goodvibes

Oh no! I hope you have a mild case and that because you caught it early it's not too bad. Some people it isn't bad at all. Others, like my mom, really suffer. If you end up falling into latter, take it easy on yourself and know that eventually you'll feel better. Sending lots of pixie dust and hugs to u!

Thank you so much!

30 minutes on the treadmill this morning, brings me to 375/1000.
It finally stopped snowing yesterday, the roads and sidewalks are clear today. Time to resume my holiday shopping:)

Hey, that's more than I've been to Texas. In college I had a friend from Dallas and I talked about going there to visit her one summer, but it never happened. I'd like to get to Texas eventually, just to say that I've been there.

19 minutes walking today ... and the best part is that I got Starbucks at the end!

I hope everyone has some fun weekend plans!

crazy day today. Long day at work followed by a December graduation celebration followed by a basketball game = cereal for dinner at 8:30 and little time for exercise.

768/1500 yea!! I'll change colors!

Swissfamilyrobinson--hope your shingles go away soon!

Let's see...married 27 years, 2 DS, a college junior and high school senior (he turns 18 on Sunday!). :scared1: This will sound corny, but I wanted my username to just be me as me. Not mom or wife, which is how I am so often identified. I first tried rose colored glasses variations but they were all taken, so I went with what I have now. I like to tell people I live in a cave wearing my rose colored glasses! :rotfl:

Hope everybody has a super weekend! :cool2:

Not much to report from me - just two walks and an hour in the pool which brings me to 520/1575.

Updated to here. I did it super quick so I'll double check all the percentages on my next update but we have our first member of team purple! glss1/2fll :banana:

I have a cold and I have 24 people coming for our pre-turkey dinner tomorrow!! I just took turkey #1 out of the oven and will carve it and make the gravy tonight so I have less to do tomorrow. I'm cooking a second turkey tomorrow which will be for our first serving and the one from tonight will be for second helpings :)

I probably won't be back until Monday. Have a good weekend everyone!

With a 30 minute walk Thursday evening at the mall and a 40 minute 1.77 mile walk at the park Friday afternoon I'm up to 320/600. :cool1:

I managed to do 45 minutes of strength training this morning which felt so good after not working out since Monday. The show is going very well. Today is the last day, so two more shows to go (matinee and evening shows). I'm so proud of my son, he balanced his school work and being in the show this week and that was the exact lesson I wanted to teach him since he expresses such a strong interest in this and wants to do this in middle school and high school. It's the teacher in me...I always look for the learning experience in everything lol. :)

Internet has been on the blink this week so I'm just now catching up.
Mon 30 min run, 45 min elliptical
Wednesday and Thursday 30 min run then 45 min elliptical
Friday 30 min run then 2:45 half this morning

I'm live in S Mississippi. I'm married (33 years). 3 kids 30, 28, and 25. This January will be my 3rd anniversary of my first 1/2 marathon. I started running 4 before that so I'm still very new to this kind of exercise, but I like

Let's see - please add on 51 minutes for me:

I got up this morning and did some abs and arms while everyone is still tucked away in bed and it felt great. It was the first "real" workout I've had in a while. It feels like mostly my minutes have been a patch-work quilt woven together by getting in a short walk here, a wall sit there, and doing arms while I wait for water to boil for oatmeal in the morning. I do believe that every minute counts, but it was nice to have a sustained workout for more than 4 minutes at a time.

The trick, of course, is to remember how good this feels and make the effort to do it more often.

This morning I need to bake 5-dozen cookies. I'm going to a Christmas cookie party and the goal (besides hanging out with friends) is for each guest to be able to load up a box of 2-3 different cookies from each variety that's brought. So everyone brings home a lovely selection of holiday goodies.

glss/12fll - I don't think it's cheesy at all. Sometimes I miss being just "Heather" and not "oh you're (insert name here)'s mom" or "Heath...have you seen my black socks?". I get it. And I"m sorry to hear that you have a cold AND have company coming over. I hope that you are able to enjoy the day and then get a chance to have a big ole nap while someone else does the dishes.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

30 minutes on the treadmill. Brings me to 405/1000.
Spent almost 6 hours yesterday " running " around going to the post office, grocery store and xmas shopping. It really wiped me out! On the upside I got most of my xmas shopping done and wrapped! ** funny note, I am SO addicted to carbs lately, I just crave them constantly!!! I decided to carb " detox" for 3 days. I started yesterday. About 2 hours into my shopping trip I just broke out into tears! I sat in my car and cried and cried. I was able to pull myself together and finish shopping. Since I actually love shopping, I blame it on the carbs, lol! I'm doing MUCH better today and the cravings are already less :)

20 minutes last night. Will try to get out for a bit today but may be spending more energy hanging some Christmas lights outside with dd who really really wants to put them up this year. :rolleyes1

I am up to 340/600. :cool1:

Walked for 47 minutes -

452/900

glss1/2fll - Thank you!

pix13dust - So glad you're feeling better and your cravings are less. That's encouraging!
