Adding 60 minutes for yesterday for strength training and abs.

I've been up since 3am. DS9 has a stomach virus and he woke up throwing up. Poor little guy. DH is wonderful and helps out with these things since I have a terrible fear of throwing up and I have trouble dealing with it. Anything else doesn't bother me when the kids are sick, but this just gets to me. Now I'm afraid it will spread all over the house so of course in full panic mode, I'm spraying everything with bleach spray that's supposed to kill norovirus. I know it's such a silly thing to fear, but it's a very real phobia and I sure do have it (called emetophobia, and it's very common actually).

What do all of you do to try and prevent spreading this all over the house? I am making my son use his own towel, throwing out all our toothbrushes and replacing them with new ones, using Clorox hydrogen peroxide cleaner spray (I buy it on amazon...it's different than the one you buy at the store...this one is made for places like day care centers and hospitals and it states on the label that it kills norovirus in one minute contact time), constant hand washing after touching basically anything in the house, and when I clean the bathroom I wear a mask and vinyl gloves, and replacing all the towels in the bathroom with fresh ones and washing the old ones in the machine with hot water. Even with all that, which I do every time someone here has it, sometimes it still spreads all over the house. So frustrating and feeling so out of control. :(

Adding 30 minutes from yesterday I'm up to 480/600. WOOHOO! Not sure if I will get in any today or not.

Hope I get HALFWAY soon ... good grief, this has been a slower month than last by far!

bangzoom... I hate throwing up...it scares me, I worry about choking. But if one of us was throwing up, I'd just advise others to keep some distance and I'd probably spray a few doorknobs and lightswitches and toilet handles/lids with Lysol or wipe with Chlorox wipes. That's about it. As you said, sometimes even with all the precautions, germs are gonna spread and others will get sick. But my opinion is that a few germs helps to develop strong immune systems, so I don't go too far to protect everyone from all the germs. I probably look at things 180 degrees differently than you do, and that's ok, it takes all kinds, right? But my kids are generally healthy, so I'm good with my outlook. Your kids might be even healthier than mine, so if it works for you the majority of the time, stick with how you do things. (You didn't say so specifically, so I'll just mention using your cleaner on phones/tv remotes, other items handled by the sick kid. Also, don't forget to wash pillowcases)

I hope he feels better quickly and no one else gets the bug! :)

Thanks for all that! I only get like this when someone in the house has a stomach bug, including me, if I'm the first one to get it. The good thing is that he went back to sleep at about 4am and when he woke up he felt a lot better. He felt fine the rest of the day yesterday and he drank plenty of fluids. DH didn't give him any solid food during the day just to be sure he was ok and it wouldn't make him throw up again and defeat the purpose of the liquids (our pediatrician advises us to wait 8-12 hours for food after the last time they throw up, just to make sure they get fluids in them). For dinner yesterday, I gave him some chicken broth and rice. He was hungry by then and he ate it and felt great. He's been fine since then too. He had Rice Krispies and a slice of toast with a little jelly for breakfast this morning. He said he feels fine. At least this was a quick one.

Like you, I also believe that exposure to some germs builds the immune system. There is such a thing as being too careful also. And yes, I also disinfect the remote control and anything else he might touch, like door knobs and light switches.

bangzoom...yay! glad to hear that it was a short duration and he's feeling better.

Have a good weekend everyone!!!!

Hello all! I am adding 120 minute of walking for the past two days. I actually don't know how far we've walked or how long but I know I was walking all over the magic kingdom, animal kingdom and epcot from 9am-7 pm both days - with ride breaks and meal breaks but most of it just walking and carrying my son a lot and standing up and sitting down and then shopping.... DS has turned into a shopper - for toys of course. Anyhow I figure I'll count each day we are here as two hours of walking. That's what my legs are feeling like anyway.

It is so beautiful here! Both the weather and the decorations.

Updated to here.

I've been off work for the last three days and while I've been very productive I haven't done any real exercise so my total hasn't changed :(

630/1000

Adding 45 minutes of strength training yesterday. 2 more days of work and then our much needed Christmas break! :)

690/1000

Adding in one hour of cardio and abs today.

DS7 is now not feeling well. :(
He says his stomach hurts and his ear hurts, but his stomach hurts worse than his ear does. I think he has most likely caught the same stomach virus that DS9 just got over, even though I hope that isn't the case. Bracing myself for more of this and hoping for the best. I can't stand these viruses...I can deal with anything else when it comes to my kids and not get squeemish...the cuts, scrapes, runny noses, coughing and sneezing all over me when they have a cold or respiratory infection, holding their hands while they get a shot or a blood test, but stomach bugs just get to me because of my fear of throwing up. I'm hoping that if he does end up having it, that it goes as quickly and mildly for him as it did for DS9. But he tends to get these things very badly when he catches them...just how his body reacts I guess.

Sorry to read about the virus running through your house Bangzoom. Hopefully all will be better soon. I've been absent from the boards for a few a few days but I have gotten my exercises in.
310 min this week of running and elliptical.

Thanks for hosting.

50 minutes of strength training today.

Unfortunately, DS7 did have that same virus as DS9 had. Shortly after I posted here yesterday, he threw up. Just the one time and then he felt much better and was acting like himself again. He's been fine since then. At least it was quick for both of them. He stayed with my mother today and was fine all day, ready to return to school tomorrow for the last day before Christmas break. I keep spraying Lysol on everything, cleaning everything, washing my hands like crazy. Having the boys wash their hands a lot. They both bite their nails so they have their hands in their mouths a lot, despite DH and I continuously telling them not to do that. That's probably how they spread it to each other. I can't stand this...with a fear of throwing up, stomach viruses send me into panic mode. :(

Put me in the - "man, I've fallen behind" club.

I'm catching up with 83 minutes - for a total of:

601/1000

I still have a looong way to go.

Hope folks are well.

I've really been slacking in terms of exercise of late. I'm kinda disappointed in myself. I don't have any excuse other than laziness.

17 minutes walking today.

702/1000

298 to go ... in 8 days. If the weather holds up and I can get 4 walk/runs in, then I should make it. Otherwise, I probably won't. :(

I haven't really had time to read all the updates, but I hope everyone is doing well!

30 min run this morning
45 min elliptical tonight

Thanks for hosting
