Decorating your resort room?

COOL! what section did you find them in??

I have heard bad things about them, so you might want to try them out at home first that's what i was going to do, so i know what kind of cleaner to bring with me

DMM - If you don't mind my asking, what bad things did you hear about the window markers? Do they leave permanent marks, or just smear, or what? I love the whole idea of room decor (TX to you for getting these boxes started!), but the one thing that scares me is that in our enthusiasm we may cause minor damage to the resort.

I'll have lots of Christmas things to add to box #4 for anybody arriving after me (Dec. 16- ) Hope someone will sign up to use it!

i think it's about 4 pages into this thread, not positive. Nothing that will cause damage, just hat they are VERY hard to clean. It took people loooots of time that's why i want to test them out before, so i can get which cleaner would work!

I went to Wal-Mart and bought a yard of "clear vinyl", my dd's and I then printed out free coloring pics from various websites. We traced our pics. onto the vinyl, and then got permanent markers and colored in our pics. We now have "home-made" window clings.

I tried this today. I got some vinyl, traced our designs onto the vinyl with black perm marker, but we found we had to color in on the opposite side or the black border would smear. Is this what you had to do also?

We ended up having to put a 2nd layer of vinyl over our coloring, then sticking them to the window because the colored in part of the design would rub off on our fingers.

Is this the best way to do it, or does someone else have better ways to complete this project? (We are using Sharpie markers, by the way)

ooo good question, b/c my Walmart has bunches clear Vinyl on clearance and i was too chicken to get any, since i wasn't sure how to do it!!

Cute idea! We always go in October so we take our Disney Halloween Decorating Kit that we got from the Disney Catalog years ago and decorate the windows of our hotel rooms! I never thought of putting anything outside the door or window for people to sign! Its a great idea! I may have to do something similar this October if you don't mind. Thanks!

Can you tell me more about the Halloween Decorating Kit you have? I was just thinking it would be fun to decorate our room windows with a Halloween theme. I know you said you bought it awhile ago, but it will give me somewhere to start!

Oh my goodness! I am SO giddy now! I can't wait to smuggle some Alien Green Mickeys from the Depot! I told DF about it, and he looked at me a little funny. Oh well!
I'm even trying to find Just Married (or the like) window clings!! Hehehe!!

Wow - I just found this thread - what great ideas!! I can't wait to decorate when we go too! We're going Sept 26 - Oct 3 - my kids will love to get Halloween started early with window decorations! i like the idea of decorating after they go to bed & surprising them - Hmmm...... gotta start thinking now....

I just snuck a small pile of them yesterday. I couldn't take very many because there was a paint vendor stocking paint chips right next to the disney ones. I'll have to try in a couple days.

I am going to try the HD nearmy house.. so far I have taken so many Alien green for some of the Disers in UK and so far everytime I go back it has been replenished.... any request ??? it seems like they all have the colors...

we are going in sept. but we are not staying in a resort we are staying at a hotel near down town disney and i was wondering does anybody know if you can decorate your door there?

Don't worry, I was careful. I went back today and got some more, no one was around. Although I might have to try a different hd next time. I am very excited to meet alot of you in September.

I got them in the section by the school supplies. I read another post about how they stained. I wrote on our sliding door and kept it there for a day. It came off with Windex Multi Task Cleaner. Hopefully, it will be the same at Disney! I am too, too excited!! Not to be a pest, but, were you going to post the pic you took of the garland you made outta Mickey Heads? I have been dying to see it!

After reading this thread for the past few weeks, I finally got enough courage to go to Home Depot and liberate some Mickey paint sample cards. I am now officially obsessed with plans to decorate my hotel window in Oct. Hmmm...must get more Mickey heads...need more orange and black...oh and some more alien green..
