Augh! I have too many pictures of my boys and I can't decide which ones to take down. How do you determine what pics stay up without your house becoming a shrine to your children? I feel guilty taking some of them down because I love them.. :lovestruc

At our house, none of them. When they were little we would hang some on the fridge for a while, I saved the ones I liked the best in a plastic tote, the rest got tossed. I don't think my house needs a shrine to the kids. It might be different if my kids were talented artists and produced something worth framing though. :lmao:

I think she is talking about photos and not drawings..

What I do is keep up all of the milestone ones, newborn, 1st year, baptisms, 1st day of school and then I change out the school photos/birthday pix every year.

I also scan all my photos and plan on adding them to a digital frame...the one I want can hold over 2000 photos

I keep most of my pics in the family room so that my whole house isn't littered with pics of my kids. I have a 2 frames with 3 5X7 openings, in one I have a baby pic of each and on the other I rotate their school pic every year (only if its frame worthy ;)). I have a few family portraits, and a very nice pic of dd with dh from a formal dance they went to, other than that I don't really have alot of pics of them on display. Love my kids, but I don't want to decorate my house with their faces

That is a good idea. I usually change out their school photo because to be honest they usually are not worth keeping out. My children take terrrible photos at school. However, I like to tinker with photography and personally like my photos much more. Plus I like to keep 1 family picture of our Disney trips out to see the changes in our family.. It's just getting to be too much now.

Either I need to stop taking pictures or I need to figure something else out. :lmao:

OH, ok, still almost the same though. We have a frame with each kid's picture in it and we put the next year school picture on top of the previous year's picture. We have a couple small framed pictures of the kids on various display shelves, the rest are packed in a plastic tote. DS17's senior picture made the family room wall though.

Amen.. but I have so many great pics. I guess I am just going to have to make a tough decision.

You could always make scrapbooks with some of your favorites that way they aren't really stored away.

I tried scrapping and I love it but just can't stick with it. I am going to have to do that. I need to make time for it.

I think I have a shrine, lol

I've limited myself to 7 frames.
each kid gets 2 for individual photos and then 3 are 'group' photos.

I rotate them as I get new pictures, the rest go in scrapbooks. Nothing fancy but I do stick them on a page and write date/occasion. If I'm feeling really frisky, I'll add some paper or a border. I have a neighbor who has a lot of time on her hands and makes scrapbooking borders to sell. I think they are $3 at the most so sometimes I'll get a few of those for the major 'milestone' opportunities (Easter, Birthdays, Halloween, Christmas, School photos.)

For all my theme park 5x7s I had 2 poster frame sized mats made that hold maybe 10 photos each. They are in the little hallway that goes to my laundry so no one really goes back there but me but I like them. I switch those out as we get different ones.

I keep one 11x14 family photo on an easel on top of the bookshelf in the family room.

Oh I also have a magnetic photo frame thing in my office that I switch out photos on.

I love pictures, so have 8x10 pictures framed on wall we receive yearly of each of our 4 kid’s families. I also have a fan frame for the grands most recent pictures. :lovestruc

In the sun room I keep a digital frame that I’ve downloaded lots of special memories of BD's, trips, special occasions, etc. and a framed pix of DS in AFG. :goodvibes

Our hall consists pictures of kid's weddings, DS's military, sweet grands accomplishments, etc. :)

After 46 yrs, I have many many albums also and over 7,000 pics stored on backup disc. ;)

Our family is our most precious asset , so I really don’t mind if guests think it’s a shrine.
