December code watch?

Being new to the Code Watching clan, please forgive a 'rookie' question.

I have an AP that expires at the end of the year and am planning a visit in December. It appears that most Watchers make a room reservation and then wait for a price drop. Is it too risky to wait for the AP rates before booking a room? Will it be easy to get a room at the BC, YC, or BW in early December?

Any counseling is appreciated. I've been to WDW 10 times, but still fret over getting a 'good deal'. Thanks

How good are the AAA rates? I have an AP and was waiting for the AP rates, but have never tried an AAA rate. We are at GF Dec15-23...

I'm soooo lucky! Just booked our rooms for Dec and was told that I have a PIN number for a dicount on room only!! The CM could/would not tell me how much it was for, she said that it just came out and I should get my number in the mail soon. She did give me the number just in case it got lost in the mail. She said that I would have to call back later, once the number was activated (not sure what that means) and have the discount applied to my balance.

We're hoping for a code too! Got a package code last year for Dec. 21-27th! We had dining and stayed at POFQ for less than a rack rate package with dining at a value resort!

Room only or AP discount would be alright too!

We were thinking in going the 23 or the 24th since I haven't seen any big difference between the 2 dates (going from PR), where can I join to see if we get a discount code? Maybe will have to move the vacation to the 26 or 28 there I have seen big $ difference although I have my hopes on receiving my santa's present in WDW.

We are going to Disney December 3-9 - how can I be notified or sign up for disount codes on rooms? Do I need to book our room and then if a code comes out then change the reservation? Appreciate all the help!

We got a 20% AAA discount for the GF December 9-15. Dreams Unlimited booked it for us. Should still be available cause we just added two nights on to our trip and Marla was able to apply the discount.

Isn't AAA 15% for Deluxe? I thought that's what mousesavers said? To poster above, was your travel agent able to get a larger AAA discount?

No, you cannot combine discounts. Unfortunately, it's either one or the other.

Just adding myself to the watch...
We booked Coronado w/ AAA discount for Dec. 19 - 26. But now I'm having second thoughts and might want to go ahead and book a deluxe w/ AP discount (if anything becomes available). I'm so confused! Should I try Wilderness Lodge, Animal Kingdom, Contemporary in a Tower Room, or go maybe just go back to the Grand Floridian. Or just stay w/ Coronado? Decisions, decisions....

I just called and they said I have a code for Oct. - Dec. but she would not tell me what it was for. She said I would have to call her back when I either recieved it my e-mail or postcard. I was trying to book for Nov. 29-Dec.4th and so I just put the room on hold. She would not even tell me if it was for a package or room only. Any advice on when I should try again? or do I really have to wait? Thanks in advance for the advice.
