DECEMBER 6, 2009 Winter WONDERland sailing!!!

Do you think they would give you the 10% discount for an existing reservation while you're on the next cruise?
They are not supposed to do that, but even if they did it would be 10% off the then-going-price, which is sure to be considerably more by then.

The only way that would work out is IF for some strange reason the cruises weren't selling. Even then you'd have to cancel the first reservation and make a new one to get the 10% onboard booking price.

Holly

And they seem to be selling pretty well. I booked mine on the first day and they had no connecting rooms left in Cat. 3. The woman stated that they were filling up fast. so no 10% :guilty:

Well it might be a good time to do a "dummy" reservation that can be changed for one of the new ships when they are ready to be booked....

That's what I was thinking when I first booked the 2010 7-night, but I'm happy with that cruise now (mainly for the SEA DAYS - Yaaay!) and am coming to accept the likelihood that the new ships will be priced WAY out of my league. If we shared a cabin like on your first cruise, MAYBE we could manage it, but I'm thinking I should start buying lottery tickets!

I'm of the same mind - the new ships will be waaaay high. For you and I - since we'll be on a cruise together, it'd be easier to do a shared booking and pay the deposits - IF we decided to do so.

And after the 2010 one - I'd probably NEED a lottery win - LOL!

Oh that is a GREAT IDEA:) I guess that means I'll have to take another cruise :lmao: .

I'm guessing the ONLY way I could afford to sail on one of the new ships would be to convince my husband to cruise, because then all my expenses would be paid in full - LOL. But unfortunately he is not only not into Disney but definitely not into cruising. His only cruise ever was transatlantic on the QE2 and he did not enjoy it in the slightest.

Now if DCL were to ever have an "adults only" cruise or if they spent enough time in an exotic port for a full day of SCUBA diving and fly fishing, THEN I'd have little trouble persuading him! Not gonna happen though - ha-ha.

I'm having the same sneaking suspicion that the new ships will be totally out of my range.

I know Shari and I both at first figured we'd book the 2010 cruise with the thought that we could transfer the reservations to the new ships. Like her, right now I'm liking the one we booked as it does have the 3 at sea days. I also still have to come up with the $$ for that cruise. (lots of positive manifesting - that's for sure)

It's also why I like the fact that Disney lets you pay a bit at a time as long as you've got it paid in full by the due date. Of course with two booked - it's a lot more to do. (but twice the dreamin' - ya know?)

Holly - I won't start fretting about paying off the 2010 one until after this 2009 one! After all, we have a year between the cruises so I don't think it will be too bad. The time I sweated it was when I did four in one year, all with a verandah. That was crazy! I know there are people who do that, but I am not wealthy so really should stick to no more than one in a year. :boat:

Changing the subject - Is anyone planning to get really creative with their stateroom door decorations? Will anyone here be entering the MouseFest door decor contest?

We are going to give the door decor contest a shot lucky for me my sister is very creative, although she has no idea how much work I have in store for her :rolleyes1

That's great! I was going to ask you to just before the cruise some pre-cruise pics of what she comes up with, then I realized that if you are entering the MouseFest contest you wouldn't want to do that because it might give your competition ideas!

I don't know that I will enter the competition as I'm not graphically creative. But I do intend to decorate my door.

Most of it will be personalized enough to ward off theft of stuff. However, since the cruise is near Christmas - there is a lot of neat stuff that can be done.

Wish we could come up with a cute graphic for our cruise thread. (like Shari did for the 2010 Chip 'N Dale's cruise) Of course by the time the MF'ers come in on this thread maybe there will be.

It WILL be lots of fun seeing all the doors done up - and since it is a MF cruise with a door contest - it'll be over the top I bet!

Holly

Holly - Not sure about referring to them as "MF'ers." :rotfl2:

I hope no one took offense - I am a MouseFester, too! It's just that "MF'ers" is sometimes used in a different sense, so I couldn't help but get a chuckle out of it. Sorry. :)

Shows how naive I can be sometimes.... :guilty:

Okay - The Bunch of People Who Are Members of MouseFest Who Will Be Cruising At This Exact Same Time ... :thumbsup2

LOL - Well, anyone who participates in ANY MouseFest activities becomes a MouseFester! :cool2:

I am wondering if there will even be a Castaway Club reception/gathering/whatever on this one. Considering the increasingly high number of repeat DCL cruisers, and add the MouseFesters to that, many of whom are sure to be repeat cruisers, WHERE could they possibly fit all of us for a gathering? :crowded:

That's true! And haven't they cut back on it anyway? Seems to me I recall that it was changed from a really nice reception to a few rice krispie treats or something?

Smiles,
Holly

Well, it used to be a really nice adult-style reception with a nice full buffet, complimentary drinks (even special alcohol ones, but low on the alcohol), beautiful ice sculpture, the captain and most of the top officers, informative speeches and Q&A's, they all went around the room meeting everyone and chatting and posing for photos, sometimes there was a film about DCL, etc.

But kids got restless with that format. Some would go up to the buffet and start playing with the food. Yeah, they were that bored. I have not attended one since they went to the new "family oriented" and more casual format (remember our Palo brunch conflicted last time), but I've heard that it's "snacks" and they give prizes and such, so most families are happy with that I guess. Being an adult without kids, I much prefer the old format. I don't think they'll ever go back to that because obviously it cost them more.

MouseFest is new to me.:confused3

Is it worth signing up for? What all does it involve?

Thanks.
