DECEMBER 6, 2009 Winter WONDERland sailing!!!

By the way - I know we are "yakking it up" today and I hope no one minds or feels left out. I do NOT want that. I remember on one cruise thread the people posted all day long about any old thing - but it really was only a few people - and I think the others didn't feel welcome. NOT what we want at all. I am just saying this because I'd hate for people to think we were taking over the thread and didn't want others to feel welcome! :sad1:
EXACTLY! I keep posting to try to keep the thread more visible, in case some new people book it and don't think to check the thread that lists the cruise threads by date. We don't want anyone to miss out on joining us here!

BTW - Yes, ICE ROOM for me! :goodvibes

you know what this is MY thread..I started it and you cant take it over so there:snooty: :lmao: nah jab away...like i said before though, I think after the new year we will start to get more people on here but right now Im not expecting it....yesterday I was at the salon ALL flipping day and by the time I got done with all my other errands and was back everyone was gone and I was pooped out anyway so I went to bed...today Im up earlier thanks to my friend Andrea who will be making her appearance sometime after our trip next week...she wanted to get through this one before she really started focusing on the one next year...but when she comes over she will be here to stay:rolleyes2...

as far as my thoughts for Nassau, there really isnt any...as I have mentioned before, I was really into reading all I could on here and other sites about DCL, where it goes, peoples opinions, etc..so I feel like I know that Nassau isnt really a place of too much interest for me...with the fact that it is my first cruise, although I would like to visit Atlantis, I just dont see it in the cards for me this time...the only thing I have thought of doing in Nassau is the the horse carriage rides but Ive heard alot of negatives about it so Im not sure...I wanted to visit the rum cake factory and buy a few to bring home but Ive heard they sell the same ones on board...the stories about all the people being pushy and wanting you to spend your money even by them taking your pics is not foreign to me...in mexico it is the same way and let me tell you that I hate that more than anything in this world and I, knowing myself, would tend to get rude because of their inconsiderate persistance and so Im not really sure at this point whether or not I even want to get off the boat there...I know about the market and well frankly nothing stands out to me as interesting except the rum cake factory so I dont know yet...

Another idea: I'm not sure what I want to do in Nassau. Since you've cruised there before Shari - and anyone else who has - perhaps comments on things to do there?

I know on the boards it seems everyone goes nuts over Atlantis. I've been looking at excursions and the Ardastra Gardens Tour seems interesting.

Didn't you say you did one of the horse carriage tours, Shari? What was that like?

What are others planning?

Smiles,
Holly

On our last cruise, we did the Harbor Tour. It's basically a boat ride around Nassau Harbor. They point out the fancy celebrity homes, cruise by Atlantis, and throw some bread out so we can see some fish. It was nothing special, but not bad. My sister, who is a lurker to this thread, did a dolphin excursion and enjoyed it, I think. We are considering some kind of Atlantis excursion. One of the guys I work with did it and highly recommended it.

I just read The Magic got re-routed to Nassau today because of Hurricane Omar....

I dislike getting accosted too. That happened during the trek to the busses in Cozumel - they literally followed and jumped out at us trying to sell junk to everyone. I suppose it is how many make their living, but I find it disconcerting.

Yet, I will want to at least step foot on Nassau. The garden tour still looks interesting, but after all I have over a year to decide!

Smiles,

Holly

The last time I was in Nassau, the DCL crew members who managed to get the day off headed straight to Froggy's (Senor Frog's restaurant and bar) where they ate, drank, talked and in general had fun. Even if you don't drink (and as previously mentioned I'm not much of a drinker), it can be fun watching people dance on the tables - LOL. That idea, of course, is for those who have already done what they want to do in Nassau, don't have the money to enjoy Atlantis or the excursions and want to get away from the panhandlers. :)

Clara - That's the same article. If you look on it where it says "Link to source" it goes to the Orlando Sentinel article link I posted, which also includes lots of photos.

But THANKS for posting! I'm so happy that you've been reading this thread and also paying attention to the dinosaur stuff! If you find any other articles on T-Rex Cafe, please let us know. :goodvibes

Do you like that sort of restaurant? (I'm hoping many here do!)

And Clara - That is such a CUTE countdown ticker! I LOVE the Santa Mickey and all the Mickey heads. :earsgirl: I don't know why I keep forgetting that this is a Christmas/holiday season cruise! I really do need to start thinking "Santa."

I like the little Mickey Santas too. Wow, the holidays really ARE just around the corner...

Well, on OUR cruise we'll have the spirit as the ship will be decorated! :woohoo:

i am NOT a fan of nassau however i am a huge coach fanitic i did get off the ship for a hour to look at all the coach bags then i went back to the ship and enjoyed the empty pools. my friend and her familiy booked a room at comfort suites and went to atlantis they had a awesome time and by booking that room they saved 500 dollars on that excurision they only paid 130 for the room with DCL it was 155 pp we were the first cruise to change from nassau to sea day and they had no problems changing thier ressie there

Have a MAGICAL time at MTOTP, Lynn! :wizard:

If you see Chip 'n' Dale, I hope you'll get some pics of them. They're my FAVORITES! :goodvibes

Lynn - Have a GREAT time! I'll be interested to hear about the Vampire room.

I really debated back and forth whether to do MNSSHP here - but I think I'll just save my money for the Christmas event. (Cast members do NOT get in free) I love Halloween - it's one of my favorite holidays. So I'll be real interested to hear about the DL version of it. Yes, and get Chip N Dale photos if you can.

Next of course I love Christmas - although it doesn't seem the same here in Florida. I grew up in New England complete with white Christmas times... and we don't get snow here. Unless you count Disney snow... However, seeing The Wonder all decked out for the holidays will be WONDERFUL. (how many puns can I put in a paragraph? :rotfl2:

Shari and I are planning to try out the new T-Rex restaurant here - so we'll let you know if it's a fun place to maybe do a before or after cruise meet - for those who can or would like to.

Smiles,
Holly

Sorry I haven't gotten back to the board sooner. Had an all day work meeting yeterday, ugh!

Taswira - could we add a column that shows who would be interested in participating in the fish extender exchange?

We went to Atlantis in Nassau a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it. Will probably do the same next December. I really didn't feel too safe walking around in the town. Maybe it was just me.

Everyone have a great day!

The Fish Extender thing sounds like a good idea for those who want to participate.

So far for Nassau - although I'd like to see Atlantis - not sure I'll go. Right now the Gardens tour (Adastra sp?) and maybe sitting at Senor Frog's sounds good. (with a Martguerita and some guacamole)

Smiles,
Holly

Taswira - could we add a column that shows who would be interested in participating in the fish extender exchange?
Done! Listed to the right of the Stateroom. :thumbsup2

BTW - I should post stateroom numbers of those participating. So far I have you and Clara as Fish Extender participants but don't have a cabin number for either of you.

If anyone who has booked wishes to be listed as a "YES" or a "MAYBE" on the Fish Extender column, please let me know. Thanks! :)

We're in 6587 unless I decide to upgrade!!!

Thanks.
Thanks! I added your stateroom number. Anyone whose number is not listed, if you would like it added, just let me know and I'll get it on there. If you upgrade later I can always change it! :)

BTW - Is anyone here on MySpace or on DisFriends on NING? I am "taswira" on both. If you send a friend request just mention that you're from the DIS.
