DECEMBER 6, 2009 Winter WONDERland sailing!!!

MouseFest is a yearly event with meetings and special events. Most of it takes place at WDW, although they now do a yearly MouseFest Cruise. I think it costs about $20 to join, but I believe that is more geared to the land part and helps defray costs for lanyards, etc.

For the Cruise part - they'll do meets, give lanyards, etc. Also of course the Door Decorating Contest If you go to this year's website you'll get a feel of the things they do. Actually, here is the link to the cruise events for the cruise this year.

I will probably sign up.

Holly

NOTE TO JASON

I recall you mentioned you wanted to take your son parasailing on CC. You might want to sign up for it the MOMENT you can book ressies for it as I just noticed the MouseFest had it as one of their events and it sold out quickly. Not sure if they are doing it as a separate time slot from the other slots on CC or not.

Should MouseFest open up the bookings for this sooner than the date you can book (either 90 days or 75?) AND IT IS NOT A SEPARATE SLOT, you might want to consider signing up for MouseFest and grabbing a parasailing slot.

Holly

Thank You! We'll take care of it as soon as possible.

We were on the Mousefest cruise last year. I don't know if I was just lucky, but didn't have any trouble booking the parasailing. I think Mousefest planned on a couple of the morning slots. Since we were busy in the morning, I got an afternoon slot without difficulty. I only hope Trevor will go through with it.:)

I'm just saying good morning. It's amazing how fast a cruise meet thread can get buried three or four pages back!

Back on topic a bit - the new Passporter Newletter (which you can subscribe to free) has info about this year's MouseFest events. They just added an Ice Cream Social to the cruise part of it.

BTW, it's probably worth subscribing to the newsletter if you want to order the Cruise Passporter as they give discounts to subscribers. I got the deluxe version before my 2007 cruise.

Also, there are some comments about the new T-Rex restaurant. Sounds like a must-see!

Note to Shari: As we know weather forecasts can change .... BUT the forecast for Wednesday is sunny and 70 degrees!

Holly

Just a reminder to those planning to buy the Passporter: Check to see when they plan to revise it and release a new version. Although owners can download updates, it's awkward for adding to your Passporter. Better to have the latest edition before you sail. But remember that if you have sailed DCL before or are good at gleaning info from the boards, you really don't need a Passporter. It's a wonderful resource for those totally new to Disney cruising though.

And Holly - I'm still on for Wednesday T-Rex! BTW - Were you aware that the MouseGuest Experience is going on at WDW at that time?

No I didn't know about MouseGuest Experience! But I am excited to go to the parks that day and of course try out T-Rex. And if it IS in the upper 60's or low 70's - we'll be in heaven. (note to others: it seems lately whenever Shari and I go to the parks it's beyond hot and humid - so a day where it will be comfortable will be a dream come true)

Holly

The new Passporter comes out in February.

I can't decide whether to wait until then or go ahead and buy the 2008 one.

Decisions, Decisions!!!!!!

If the new one comes out in February, I would definitely wait if it were me. That is only 4 months from now, and will still be plenty of time before the cruise. ::yes::

I agree that it would be best to wait until February.

I got one before my 2007 cruise and enjoyed it a lot, but I would have been disappointed had it been the Passporter for the year before. Once you get it - you can update it - but it of course costs to do that unless you download the updates.

And in all reality, you'll find more info here on The Dis and online. (but I still enjoyed mine)

Ha-ha - Yes, Holly, but the problem with finding the info online, especially on the HUGE DisBoards, is that there is too much info to be had, much of it is opinion, and unless it's coming from those who run the DIS, it may not be current and factual. This is not meant to be a criticism, because mostly I look to the DIS for a "community" of people who share a love of Disney and Disney Cruise Line. I probably would not have met you or many good friends I've spent time with at WDW and on the cruises were it not for the DisBoards. And it is OUTSTANDING for trip reports!

But for current information that has been "personally experienced" and triple-checked to verify its validity, you really can't beat the Passporter. In addition, it is well-organized for easy planning and can be carried if needed. My advice to anyone who buys the Deluxe version and plans to take it on the cruise would be to only take the pages you really need, plus the journal/envelope pages. Otherwise it's going to be VERY heavy!

I agree. And I plan to purchase one - or at least the refill. If not for the four day - then certainly for the 7 day special Eastern.

Holly

Isn't the Chip 'N Dale Cruisin' Nuts Dec. 2010 a Special 7 Night Eastern?

If not - then that's the one I want the Passporter for.

Smiles,

Holly

Heh-heh - - No, our itinerary for that cruise is the "regular" Eastern itinerary, UNLESS they decide to change it for some reason. However, yes, the fact that it is Chip 'n' Dale's Cruisin Nuts cruise makes it special.

But THIS is the wrong thread for that! This Wonder cruise is special also because it's the Wonder (my favorite!) and because it's our next cruise and there are great people sailing with us!

Speaking of which - When will Lynn be back? I'm anxious to hear how MTOTP was. :)

Well, I know that! ;) I was just commenting that I might not buy the refill for the Passporter for THIS cruise, but will for the 2010 cruise. (and I thought it was a slightly different itinerary than usual...)

I'm not sure when Lynn is getting back. I could go back and read the dates she was going to be gone...

Smiles,
Holly

Actually the other thing that makes this cruise special is that it's a MOUSEFEST cruise! That probably means more true lovers of all things Disney than on most cruises!

I recall on one of my solo cruises when this couple at the dinner table with me said they were "Really not into Disney" and the man kept griping about "no casino!" I don't think we'll run into too many of those on this sailing!

LOL! I know my parents would say that..."not into Disney...and what...NO Casino?!"

You are right though there will be a large proportion of Disney fans, many of whom have cruised before. I suspect it'll be a fun-loving and interesting bunch of people.

I am really looking forward to it!

Smiles,

Holly
