December 2013 car rental

Thanks again for this thread guys and for reminding me to check rentals often. I just rebooked through Costco and Budget as their price for the first week of December for a mid size dropped to $119 from my original $148 through Alamo. Anyone know if they have skip the line access, I will miss that as I had it set up for the Alamo ressie

If you go directly into Alamo and use the Costco code of 7014627 and the Alamo Insider coupon AU5224JAB [one class car upgrade - and it will take it using Costco code] you should be able to book a mid-size [then one class car upgrade] for $171. which is an automatic upgrade to full at the Orlando airport - as there is no standard aisle for vehicles.

Let me know if that worked for you. :goodvibes

Wow, it worked! I've been trying since last summer to find any code that would work on the Alamo site. Every single one said something about coupon capacity reached or unavailable. This includes one they sent me for my birthday last month. Just a few minutes after receiving the email from them, I tried it and it wouldn't work.:rotfl::rotfl: I just tried this Costco and Alamo Insider one and can't believe it actually worked.:cool1: I was able to get a midsize (with a free upgrade to a standard--which means an automatic free upgrade to a full size) and with the Costco discount it was just $230.71 (all fees and taxes) for Dec 6th-16th. I already had one I booked a couple of weeks ago through the Costco site for a midsize for the exact same price (230.71:rotfl:). Oh well for the exact same price I'll take a full size over a midsize.

Just got a better deal from Budget on a mini van. I used Costco code
A017600 and coupon MUGZ165. My previous amount was $263 and now it's
$227.89 for a week rental from 12/7 to 12/14. This is from MCO and drop off at Port Canaveral. :)

Oh, it's higher than the Costco 7014627 and AU5224JAB upgrade coupon through Alamo for me. $280.37 for a midsize through Budget compared to $230.71 for a full size through Alamo.

I'm glad I could help and I know what you mean. I have been so frustrated with the Alamo coupon issue and was surprised myself.

You're saying I can book a midsize and will automatically get a fullsize?

I'm booking the same week and Costco gives me $256. I must be doing it wrong! Help?

If you use the coupon for the upgrade you will be able to pick a vehicle from the full size aisle as there is no standard size aisle at the Orlando airport for Alamo. :thumbsup2

I just tried this coupon & got a message coupon no longer available at this location. :sad2:

I just did it again right now for my dates 12/6 - 12/14 with no problem. Trying clearing your cookies and see if that works. You can't try it more than once in a short time-frame. You know how that site is now. :upsidedow

Could be the dates. Mine are 12/18-25. Might be blacked out for Christmas.

I just called Alamo because I was having a problem doing the online check in & was told by 2 different reps that I could not do the online check in with an upgrade coupon that i would have to go to the counter to sign paperwork.

Not sure if any of you have heard of this... I told them to just take the coupon off since I really don't care if we have a compact or a midsize car. I would prefer to just go out to garage.

I know there are some coupons you can't use and do online check in. See if you can use an upgrade coupon at the Alamo kiosks which are located right by the inside counters. They are super easy to use, never a line and you don't have to interact with an Agent. It might be worth it for a bigger vehicle. Honestly, they take less than 5 minutes to use.

My ticker must be messed up....:scared:
Wheels down for us is 11 am:24 DEC....16 days....(return it 5 pm:8 JAN..
Now I'm finding over $1000 rates. I may just put new Michelins on my ride, and head east a day sooner! ....(the rest of the crew can still fly if they wanna!) :scratchin
Car Rental Savers comes up with a rate of $780 (using the Florida booking link) with Thrifty for an intermediate.

ETA: Are you staying onsite? You can split up your rental with Alamo using the "706768" code.

Full size car ...
$181
Pick up 12/24 @ 11:00 MCO
Drop off 1/31 @ 11:00 Car Care Center

$232
Pick up 1/1 @ 5:00 Car Care Center
Drop off 1/8 @ MCO

Total: $413 and you would be without a car for a day and a half.

yes! That's the Ticket!... I had tried splitting it several different ways, but this one actually works out pretty good! Thanks Robin! :cool1:...( I really didn't want to drive this time if I didn't have to!)

Does anyone have a good $$$ off coupon for Alamo? The $25 off on their website has reached its limit. We're renting a minivan so the single upgrade code doesn't help.

We have different CCs so a CC code could work. The Visa one is an upgrade code so that doesn't help.

Thanks!

Recently, no-one has been able to use coupons at MCO except for the upgrade coupon. And only then with very limited success.

Happy to help :). If you are staying onsite, I would drop off the car on 12/30 so you don't have to add dropping off a car to your NYE insanity :goodvibes.

And I believe if you are using an upgrade coupon you now how to go to the counter. This is what i was told by a couple of Alamo employees. I decided to take the coupon off of my reservation because I prefer to just go out to the garage.

I haven't used Alamo in a few trips. Can someone remind me the criteria to go out to the garage? I am not using a coupon, but I did book under the Sun promo. I do have a link in the confirmation email to do online check in. I can't remember what that means though. If I do the online check in do I still use the kiosk? Or just go straight out?

Nevermind, I went and did the online check in and then it immediately offered me the ability to skip the counter if I added license and credit card info. I backed out of it for now. I'm going to wait and see if I get a better rate as we get closer. I doubt I will.. $186 for 9 days with a full-size isn't bad. But I'll do the online check in when I am sure I am keeping it.
