December 15, 2012 A Yo-HO-HO-HO Holiday Fantasy!

I'm posting on 4 meets threads now and I don't recognize names from 1 meet thread to the other :confused3 . Now that you mention it we are on the same cruise next month.

I'm having a similar issue! I do love getting to "know" others, I just hope I don't offend when I get things mixed up. I can't remember what I have posted and where.

I feel your pain. I am on 4 roll call threads, 1 Disney & 3 others. hard to keep track sometimes.

Hope everyone is having a great summer so far.

I know it's probably to early to think about but wanted to get some cruise chatter going. Has anyone started to think about what their doing in St. Thomas and/or San Juan?

We have been to St Thomas a few times, we usually just get off the ship, walk around town and have conch fritters at Cousins. We are thinking about doing Trunk Bay this trip. We did the sky ride on the last trip. It was ok, nice view of the island but nota lotto do up there.

San Juan we are not sure what we will do. Pretty sure San Juan is a new port and I didn't see any excursions on the DCL website to get some ideas. It's been years since I have been there.

I haven't thought that far ahead! Right now the girls are 3 and 4 but when we cruise they will be 5 and 6, and it is really hard for me to imagine where they will be then! They have changed so much even since our March cruise! I will probably hope to find something that will tie-in to our homeschooling, too.

I'm really looking forward to it, though. DH and I had never been out of the country prior to March, and our 3 and 4 year olds have been to several places as well! They were both adopted as babies and their first moms are thrilled with the adventures they have already had and look forward to hearing about and seeing pics from their future ones!

We just couldn't get over the beautiful water color on the Western Caribbean! The deep blues of the deeper seas and the lighter blues/greens. Simply breathtaking!!! Ok, now I am ready NOW!

At least we have a couple of Dream cruises to get us by!

We are booked on this cruise! I LOVED the Magic at Christmas time...can't wait to see the Fantasy. It's a long way off...but time goes so quickly.

I have been thinking about shore excursions. I found an ebook for like99cents on San Juanand we are thinkingabout the Bacardia Factory tour and walking around the fort and town closest to the port.

For Saint Thomas, weare thinking about chartering a sail/snorkeling tour for the day. Most of what Disney has says they wont even let Mom on the boat ifshe chows up inher wheelchair and she can walk it is just disstances. She doesnt want to snorkel but loves to watch others and the scenery.

Hope every one is having a great summer. I am ready to do something elsetoday. Just finished freezing 48 ears of corn. What a day off

Will the ship be docking in Old San Juan? If it does that will solve my excursion dilemma. The fort and surrounding area will be enough to keep us occupied.

Good Morning,

Hope everyone is having a good week. Going to be a hot one for us the next few days, nothing under a 100

I just imagine myself on CC with a Conk Cooler, helps a little but I want the real thing.

A note for those who are new to this thread (Welcome!):

Our cruise website is HERE. You may sign up to join our cruiser list (including FE listing) HERE. Thanks!

For St Thomas we'll walk around and shop.

For San Juan I want to go to the Bacardi Factory and then wander Old San Juan and maybe hit the fort. I've been there several times and would love to go back to El Yunque but don't think there will be enough time to do everything I want.

Hi Barb,

Do you know if the ship docks within walking distance to the fort and Old San Juan? I have only been there once and that was back in 1985.

My mom is getting ready to book our cruise tomorrow! :cheer2: We're in Cat 8C so that our rooms can connect. Would you believe those two rooms are cheaper than 1 Family Deluxe with verandah? There are 5 of us. Me, hubby, DD (7 1/2 at sailing), DS (2 at time of sailing), and my mom. We were originally going to book the 1 room but then I read on Mousesavers.com that sometimes you can get 2 connecting rooms for cheaper on Cat 9. Well Cat 9 is already sold out or rather there are no more connecting rooms left. So 8C is the next level with connecting rooms. Hope they are nice. ;)

So any advice at what I should start looking at or what to expect on a Disney cruise would greatly help this newb here! :) :flower3:

Thanks!!
Betsy

We are very excited to be sailing on the Fantasy in 2012. Seems so far away but gives us enough time to meet some new sailing friends

Welcome!!!

Many book two rooms for economic reasons. Twice the bathrooms and twice the space!

The stickies at the top of the cruise page give lots of information. Some of it is older (navigators), but will still give you an idea of what to expect. We were on our first cruise in March on the Magic and I scoured these boards for the six months from booking to sailing. I felt prepared.

As for what to expect, we'll have to wait and see what the Fantasy has. I'm sure many of us will be anxiously awaiting info from the earlier cruisers.

Sit back and enjoy! Our time will be here one of these days!

What are you all doing to keep busy before we cruise?

I for one am working full time and considering a residency (post grad term for class and clinical for a year) Got the application process to start on this fall.
We are remodeling and rearranging a house and somewhere in there I am planning a trip to Ohio this fall.

And of course reading all I can on the DIS and waiting for my Passporter to arrive.

What about everyone else?

I'm checking the DIS a few times per day! I love sewing for our girls, so I am always looking for ideas. I have been reading the DISboutique thread in the trip planning section. Some really cute ideas there!

We start homeschooling this next week, so that is taking a lot of my thought time as well!

Where are you considering your residency? Sounds like you are pretty busy with that and the house.

We are fortunate to have 3 trips between now and this cruise. We have a Med cruise in Oct on RCI which is where we are focusing our energy and Disney in December. I haven't been on the message boards much, waiting till after the first sailing in March. We sailed the Dream in May so we are curious about what they may have changed. hopefully they did something with the adult area.

No plans for the summer, staying close. hope everyone is having a great summer and staying cool.
