December 15, 2012 A Yo-HO-HO-HO Holiday Fantasy!

I know, that's why I qualified it. At least I have a cruise before this one, so THIS one can be my depression alleviation cruise. Of course that means I'll have to book one while on this one - IF the world is still here. :rotfl2:

No, you need to book a dummy on your April cruise, 'cause odds are pretty good that Oct/Nov of next year will be when they announce the 2014 (!) cruises, and you'll need a dummy in case there is a special itinerary that could sell out right away! Then we just have to hope the world doesn't end...... ;)

.

13 listings on our cruiser list so far. I am highly superstitious, so hoping we'll have more signing up soon. ;)

Also, several days ago I added the construction video to the site as well as "Inside the Fantasy" pics and info (lounges, atrium, etc.), and I update the Meyer Wert webcam photo on the Links page as needed. If you have ideas for additional content for the site, please chime in! :)

Yes, please somebody join the cruiser's list! Can't have our "End of the World...or not" cruise have only 13 members on the list! :rotfl:

I'm back from vacation. Not sure my brain has recuperated yet from the long drive back from NH to Florida. Will be doing laundry today and pack to leave for a long weekend conference tomorrow. :laundy: Wow, almost sounds like I have a busy life! I always joke that I have no life except waiting for the time to go on a cruise, but this month has been busy. Well, soon as June is over, there won't be much going on and I'll be back to thinking, "Is is April yet?!" Then it'll be onto this cruise!

"ibouncetoo", you are right - I need to book a dummy cruise while on my April cruise for the 2014 season. ;)

Ha ha - sorry to seem like I'm wishing our days away! It's so hard sometimes - it seems like we wait forever for cruise time to roll around.

We'll be booking a dummy on our October cruise. The Fantasy cruise will be #5 for us, so 2013 trips we will be gold CC members. A few days earlier for booking things at least!!!

Hey Y'all!

How do you guys do it??? Handle the waiting I mean. This cruise will be our 3rd on DCL. And it seems so far away. 540+days!

We booked our Dream cruise (6.3.11) in August 2010. Within a month, the waiting and planning got so bad, I booked a 3 day Wonder for 12.9.10 just to hold us over. I got a great deal, we were able to use a military discount since the sailing was no where near full. I can tell you, it was barely enough to get me through waiting for our Dream cruise that we took just a few short weeks ago.

So, I must ask you guys, most of you seem to be pros at this and have a lot more cruises under your belt. How do you handle the waiting? My budget is not going to allow me to book a cruise in between, like I did last time. We are planning a trip to USFL in March '11. I did busy myself with FE stuff, but I am going to have to skip FE this time. I see some of you have a few cruises before this one. But as a whole, what tips can you give? Here we are 540+ days out and I am about to jump out of my skin! I consume every thread on the board, trip reports, etc. I just do not know how I am going to manage the next year and a half!

Help a fellow cruiser out....Do I sound obsessed? Well, I am, DCL obsessed! :scared1:

Every little perk helps! Isn't the OBC a bit higher too as the CC levels rise?

This cruise will be my third so I've got a ways to go yet to reach Gold. I haven't cruised since 2007, but now it seems like I'm making up for lost time with two cruises booked for 2012, and a third tentatively in the plans for 2013. I am hoping to sign up for a group cruise on the Fantasy June 1, 2013.

By the way, if you've not gone over the Cruiser's website - be sure to go on over. Shari is doing a great job with it! It's a good way to keep track of who is who. Wow, lots of birthdays on this cruise....

Holly #3,

I do exactly what you do. I scour the DIS Cruise threads and obsess. Ask my friend Shari. I drive her nuts with cruise planning and talk! ;) Thank goodness she's as cruise crazy as I am, although I'm sure I STILL drive her nuts talking about every minute detail.

I also love the cruise meet threads. THIS is a fun and friendly group! :thumbsup2 I've found that cruise meet threads seem to each have their own personality and level of cruiser participation.

Holly (ThePhantomsGirl) - You've only done ONE cruise so far, and I KNOW that in what will have been more than 5 years between your 1st and 2nd, you HAVE had a life! :rotfl2:

Sailing in June of '13? Is that with a deaf group? Enjoy! I just can't take the heat of June, and for my superstitious reasons if I sail again after this one, it won't be until 2014. ;)

Did you guys see this Dream trip report? The basketball court is over Palo and you hear the banging of the basketball while dining? Wow. Bad move, DCL. It may be too late to remedy that for the Fantasy.

I've had a life? But I've not been on a cruise in those last five years! :lmao:

Yes, the tentative June 1, 2013 cruise is a Deaf group cruise. Background info for the people on here: I have substantially lost hearing in the last two years mostly in my left ear. My right ear fluctuates. (Meniere's) I am learning American Sign Language. In fact, the conference I mentioned going to this weekend is a Silent Weekend. No talking allowed, only signing. Immersion is one of the best ways to really learn.

I am considering putting in a request for this cruise to have the shows signed. I did so for the April 28th cruise. Disney does a list where they will sign specific cruises. When I put in the request for the April one, they'd not done their list yet so there is a pretty good chance. I hear the interpreters are fantastic for the shows and well worth watching even if you don't know ASL.

Shari: regarding heat. Yeah, I really wish they'd picked another time. However most groups seem to plan things around school vacations, etc. I know THIS June sure is hot beyond belief in Florida - can't imagine what the Caribbean is like. :scared1:

I'm waiting for cooler weather so we can go to WDW without melting...

Sorry for so many posts today folks. See what being away does to an obsessed cruise fanatic?

Being COOLER is a major reason I LOVE sailing in December! :goodvibes I'm hoping not to melt on our April cruise, since most of it is the first week of May.

As soon as we finish that one, I'll start packing for THIS one! :cool1:

Thanks Holly!

I appreciate your input.

I totally agree, this is a fun group. Much more active than my last 2 meet threads and we are still a ways out from out sail date. I am going to have fun with this count down with all you great folks.

I pour over these boards, talk to the few friends that enjoy listening to me talk about it (most don't want to hear that we didn't vacation for 7 years, and now we can do it more often!), and do some planning.

In the next month or so, I'll be making outfits for our girls for our October cruise. I'll be scouting for things for the Dec. cruise for sure! I'm going to look this Christmas for some Disney fabric to make outfits next year. I'm hoping to find something fun!

Not much of a big deal, but it is something to keep my mind busy!

When I've got a long wait between cruises I READ TRIP REPORTS!:thumbsup2

Always fun to hear different people's experiences.

Holly, my older sister (who will probably by joining me on this cruise) also has Meniere's. She hasn't had any symptoms for a long time, thank goodness. She was very hesitant about taking her first cruise, but she did great. (she was worried about vertigo with the motion of the ship) Cruise #2 for her is the Dream in November.

Hi all, been MIA for a while, being at WDW will do that to you. Plus, we've been doing things around the house making it look more our's and less like a rental that it was. By next year we'll have that accomplished.

And you are getting ready to head to AK. I can't wait to hear how it is!

My family and I are planning on being on this cruise. Our daughters will be 17 and 15. We really hope to be able to keep this date. We have had to cancel the past two we planned due to life. Keep your fingers crossed!

Ah, I know how it feels to have had to cancel cruises due to life. I've cancelled two of my own in the past. May we all get to go on the cruises that we so hope for!

So...welcome to the Cruise Meet thread! :cheer2:

Ah, I know how it feels to have had to cancel cruises due to life. :cheer2:

I had to cancel a Westbound Transatlantic because I couldn't get off work. So I just moved it to a dummy for the following year. As it turns out, a friend got us a cabin with a travel agent discount on the Eastbound at the last minute. So I was still able to have a great cruise, for less money and to come back to work all rested up for our busy season! :thumbsup2 Sometimes you just never know......
