December 11, 2011 Mexican Riveria

Just wanted to come on here and say HAPPY THANKSGIVING to everyone, just in case i'm not on tomorrow!

A little over 2 weeks to go! :dance3:

Just booked this cruise last week on a TA offer for me and DS(31). We might pop by the meet if we can - we have a 3:00 boarding time so we will see. Planning to make this a relaxing cruise and just walk around the ports (DS has a new camera he will be itching to try out), thinking about whale watching on the second Cabo day but will probably just see what we find the day of. Funny thing - the only other time I was on the Wonder was five years ago with DH and our other son, booked a GTY and was assigned the exact same room I had before.

I have visited the Wonder twice and by the looks of the parking lot and loading zone by 1:30-2:00 it gets really quiet so you could probably plan on coming a bit earlier.

Thanks. Our flight arrives at LAX at 12:15 so we are planning to get there before 2:00. Haven't decided on transfers yet.

Thanks for your warm welcomes! I've forwarded my info to Miry and hope she'll be able to add it to the FE list. Thanks, again!!!

bnalexander is maintaining the FE list. You need to give her your info to make it on the list. Otherwise, you'll need to put the info on here, for the rest of us to have it. :goodvibes

Welcome aboard!

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in America.

We don't do it here but I think it would be a lovely, special time for you all.

It is 30C (86F) here today and I'm sweltering. I'm looking forward to some cooler weather!

Here are some tips I've come across on the board that seem really good. I'd love some feedback on if you've done them and they've worked or not, or if anything is out of date. Or, what can you add to it? I've done some copy and paste jobs here and others have been written down on scraps of paper over the weeks and then typed up so they may not always make sense.

I'm doing the pillow cases thing for the kids (but I used European pillow cases because I want to have all of the characters sign them). And I'll be handing in some photo mats to get signed.

Disney Cruise Tips

The kids clubs have boxes of Disney stuff (Tattoos, small toys, postcards etc.). They use them for prizes and bribes. It is amazing what you can get by helping tidy up!

Coke Float (we call them Spiders in Australia). The best invention ever! Why not put some ice cream in the bottom of a coke cup and then top up at the drinks station?

If you don't ask, you don't get. If you have a special event happening in your family, and would like something special - ask! They might say yes, they might say no - but if you don't ask, you don't get.

We went to the Guest Services desk and asked for the Hidden Mickey list. They had to hunt for it themselves, but said they were able to get it from the kids club CM's. So I'd check with either the kids club or Guest Services.

Attach your port tour stickers to inside your lanyard holder without taking off backing cover. This way your sticker will be in all pictures.

Suction cap hangers to hang swimmers on in shower.

Can ask for child’s name to be included on autographs to personalize them.

Request daily wake up call – put on loudspeaker for everyone in cabin to hear Mickey's voice.

Group photo and signatures on photo mat of FE participants.
I really like this idea. Is anyone else up for it? It doesn't have to be a professional photo taken, it could be something taken on someones camera and forwarded on to the group via email or something?

Luggage tags – ask for extra tags in favourite character – but don’t use on suitcase until after disembarking in case it isn’t your assigned one.

Hand in autograph book at Guest Services for signing –or whatever else you want signed. 1 item per person in cabin.

Ask for toweligami instructions.

Sticky notes and pen on a string for cabin door. Can keep messages from others as a souvenir.

Bring plug in airfreshener for cabin and spray for toilet.

Shoe bag over door to keep things tidy ie: chargers, hair brushes etc.

Bring a battery alarm clock or get wake up call.

Ask for “first cruise” button at guest services.

PJ party in kids club – late at night. Ask quietly for pillowcases to take home if kids can’t stay awake long enough to participate.

Ask for recipes of any favourite dishes.

Tea with Alice and Gingerbread house making – ask for tickets at Guest Services as soon as you board.

Ask for beer token instead of carrying around mug. Get a new mug at end of cruise to take home.

That's all I've got so far. :confused3

Enjoy your holiday! :goofy:

Attach your port tour stickers to inside your lanyard holder without taking off backing cover. This way your sticker will be in all pictures. Generally speaking, while on excursions, you won't wear your lanyard. But I think it's a great idea.

Suction cap hangers to hang swimmers on in shower. There is a retractable clothesline in the bathtub.

Can ask for child’s name to be included on autographs to personalize them.

Request daily wake up call – put on loudspeaker for everyone in cabin to hear Mickey's voice.

I really like this idea. Is anyone else up for it? It doesn't have to be a professional photo taken, it could be something taken on someones camera and forwarded on to the group via email or something? We did this on our WBTA in 2010. At the time of our DISmeet, we all grouped up just before the end of the meet and had all the cameras of the people who wanted the picture. Then we corraled (oops) asked a CM (or 2) if they would take the picture with all the cameras. Those people who didn't get a good picture were able to get it emailed from someone else who did (odds are someone will) after the cruise.

We've never had a problem, but others have reported that they wish they had done this.

Shoe bag over door to keep things tidy ie: chargers, hair brushes etc. With only 2 of us, we haven't really had a need to do this, BUT I think it's a great idea.

Bring a battery alarm clock or get wake up call.

Ask for “first cruise” button at guest services.

PJ party in kids club – late at night. Ask quietly for pillowcases to take home if kids can’t stay awake long enough to participate.

I posted responses above.

I really want to sign up for the Tea with Alice and Gingerbread house making and have heard that you need to sign up as soon as you board. We don't board till 2:30. Do you think we will still have a shot at this? :confused3

So I am making the kids journals for the cruise and I want to put in the names of the restaurants we will be going to but I'm not sure on all the names and also how does the dining rotation work. Is there anywhere that tells us before hand what days we are at what restaurant?

The restaurants are Animators Palatte (A); Triton's (T); and Parrot Cay (P).

You will receive your dining roatation when you check in at the port. It will be indicated on your KTTW card. On our October cruise our rotation was APPTAPT. This is not the only rotation. Your table number will also be on there.

The table number in each dining room is the same, but probably not in the same location within each room.

The first night you go to your dining room, you will be escorted to your table by a server (not necessarily the one you will have). Each night when you go to your next dining room, you will sit at the same table (number) and have the same dining companions (if any) and servers.

Sillyputty31, what are the times & dates for this?

I haven't heard of it :confused3

Thanks :goodvibes

Marlea98, we call the Coke Floats "black cows" in Costa Rica

Nerdstill, welcome aboard :goodvibes

I believe you have to wait until we board to find out the dates and times but if you are interested you have to get tickets from guest services when you board as they run out of tickets.

I heard a rumor that Muffets may be playing in the movie theatre.

Just got back from San Pedro, thought we would head down and see todays cruise leaving. Beautiful weather and at 5pm was still 70 with not a cloud in the sky. Sail away party started at 4.15, we left at 5 and the boat was still there, looked like it had to wait for the Carnival Spirit to leave first. If I can figure out how to attach a picture, we will post a couple...

Very nice, thanks for posting the pictures! Can't believe just 2 more weeks! :cool1:

I hope so. I've told my kids we won't see the movie in L.A just in case it was showing. They weren't brought up on the Muppets like we were so they don't really know much about them. It'll be cool they get to first experience them on the ship.

Such lovely pictures. I can't wait to see it for myself. The sky looked lovely and clear and hopefully it'll stay like that for us.

Two more sleeps for us before we leave! I had a massive panic attack on Saturday night - me: "Don't panic, I can't find the passports!!!" everyone else: "huh, we do we need to panic?" me: "i can't find the passports so don't panic, I'm sure we can get replacements in an emergency" everyone else: "but we're not panicking". me: "it's okay, you can stop panicking now, I've found them". nobody but me was racing around like a headless chicken. i found them in a manilla folder in the basket where the spare school exercise books are kept!!

two sleeps to go.
