Happy Thanksgiving to all of you in America.
We don't do it here but I think it would be a lovely, special time for you all.
It is 30C (86F) here today and I'm sweltering. I'm looking forward to some cooler weather!
Here are some tips I've come across on the board that seem really good. I'd love some feedback on if you've done them and they've worked or not, or if anything is out of date. Or, what can you add to it? I've done some copy and paste jobs here and others have been written down on scraps of paper over the weeks and then typed up so they may not always make sense.
I'm doing the pillow cases thing for the kids (but I used European pillow cases because I want to have all of the characters sign them). And I'll be handing in some photo mats to get signed.
Disney Cruise Tips
The kids clubs have boxes of Disney stuff (Tattoos, small toys, postcards etc.). They use them for prizes and bribes. It is amazing what you can get by helping tidy up!
Coke Float
(we call them Spiders in Australia). The best invention ever! Why not put some ice cream in the bottom of a coke cup and then top up at the drinks station?
If you don't ask, you don't get. If you have a special event happening in your family, and would like something special - ask! They might say yes, they might say no - but if you don't ask, you don't get.
We went to the Guest Services desk and asked for the Hidden Mickey list. They had to hunt for it themselves, but said they were able to get it from the kids club CM's. So I'd check with either the kids club or Guest Services.
Attach your port tour stickers to inside your lanyard holder without taking off backing cover. This way your sticker will be in all pictures.
Generally speaking, while on excursions, you won't wear your lanyard. But I think it's a great idea.
Suction cap hangers to hang swimmers on in shower.
There is a retractable clothesline in the bathtub.
Can ask for childs name to be included on autographs to personalize them.
Request daily wake up call put on loudspeaker for everyone in cabin to hear Mickey's voice.
Group photo and signatures on photo mat of FE participants.
I really like this idea. Is anyone else up for it? It doesn't have to be a professional photo taken, it could be something taken on someones camera and forwarded on to the group via email or something? We did this on our WBTA in 2010. At the time of our DISmeet, we all grouped up just before the end of the meet and had all the cameras of the people who wanted the picture. Then we corraled (oops) asked a CM (or 2) if they would take the picture with all the cameras. Those people who didn't get a good picture were able to get it emailed from someone else who did (odds are someone will) after the cruise.
Luggage tags ask for extra tags in favourite character but dont use on suitcase until after disembarking in case it isnt your assigned one.
Hand in autograph book at Guest Services for signing or whatever else you want signed. 1 item per person in cabin.
Ask for toweligami instructions.
Sticky notes and pen on a string for cabin door. Can keep messages from others as a souvenir.
Bring plug in airfreshener for cabin and spray for toilet.
We've never had a problem, but others have reported that they wish they had done this.
Shoe bag over door to keep things tidy ie: chargers, hair brushes etc.
With only 2 of us, we haven't really had a need to do this, BUT I think it's a great idea.
Bring a battery alarm clock or get wake up call.
Ask for first cruise button at guest services.
PJ party in kids club late at night. Ask quietly for pillowcases to take home if kids cant stay awake long enough to participate.
Ask for recipes of any favourite dishes.
Tea with Alice and Gingerbread house making ask for tickets at Guest Services as soon as you board.
Ask for beer token instead of carrying around mug. Get a new mug at end of cruise to take home.
That's all I've got so far.
Enjoy your holiday!
