DCL kicks off Holidays on 11-19 Sailings

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Disney Cruise Line kicks off its holiday season Nov. 19 with the first of three Thanksgiving voyages. All three ships will offer traditional Turkey Day activities with feasts and football games broadcast live on the outdoor jumbo screens by the pools. Mickey, Minnie and friends will also appear in their Thanksgiving attire.

The Disney Magic sets sail Saturday on a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise. On Sunday, the Disney Wonder heads out on a seven-night Mexican Riviera cruise. And on Wednesday, the Disney Dream goes on a four-night Bahamian cruise.

During these cruises, the winter holiday celebrations begin as well. Guests can experience:

** Nightly “King Triton’s Tree Lighting” in the atrium lobby, where a child is chosen each day to help Disney characters light the three-deck-tall tree.

** Holiday storytellers sharing tales of Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. Plus, there’s a story tailored to Disney Cruise Line guests about celebrating aboard a ship.

** Family holiday crafts, such as decorating stockings, building gingerbread houses, making holiday cards and creating holiday animation cells.

** “Til We Meet Again” on the Magic and Wonder and “See Ya Real Soon” on the Dream feature a special holiday edition of the farewell party with beloved Disney characters and the ship’s crew.

** Traditional holiday feasts in the themed dining rooms.

On Castaway Cay, Disney Cruise Line’s private island in the Bahamas, passengers will find “snow flurries,” Christmas trees, character meet-and-greets, carolers and holiday-themed activities and crafts for children.

Santa Claus and his elves will have surprises for all the kids, along with cookies and milk, on Christmas morning by the atrium tree. Religious observances include midnight Mass on Christmas Eve and Hanukkah services each day from Dec. 20 through 28. The ships will each have parties on New Year’s Eve to ring in 2012, complete with music, sparkling wine in commemorative flutes and a midnight countdown.

That looks so good! I just had to wipe the drool from my chin. :cake:

Thanks for the information, Jackson's Grammie, very helpful.

And the dessert pics - I'm already drooling in anticipation.

I've already started preliminary packing - I pack things, then re-think and re-pack. Things are being washed in advance before being packed and I'm making the kids take all of their clothes out of their wardrobes so I can sort through them (good to check what they've outgrown, needs mending or washing - plus it forces them to go some way towards cleaning their rooms!). Discovered that my son has only 2 pairs of jeans that he hasn't outgrown, too, so a good excuse for some shopping once we arrive.

I've been sorting through heaps of threads etc for our holiday with tips and stuff. I'll type them up to take with me but I might even post them here for some feedback - such as if they're out of date or no longer relevant - or better still, anyone has some better ideas.

I'm printing off the navigators as I type that were posted here a page or so back. I'm hoping it won't differ too much from our cruise. I have told my husband I am going straight to the Guest Services to sign up for the tea with Alice in Wonderland and also for the gingerbread house making. Any other treats I should know about in advance to sign up for? We aren't doing Palo I don't think.

We leave in about 11 days now :laundy: so lots of cleaning and preparation needs to be done in such a short time now. I'd rather lay on the couch and watch Dr Oz or something but if I don't do it I know it won't get done!

See you soon.

p.s - I don't know what I'll be wearing for the meet and greet, but look for a family of 4 - 3 will be looking embarrassed about their over-excited wife and mum

Another storm is due to pass through LA tomorrow afternoon! This is a worrying trend..hopefully when its our turn the weather gods will smile upon us!

You know, call me silly but it's been so long since we had some decent rain here I don't think I'd mind some rain in L.A! :thumbsup2

I would just prefer a nice sail away party outdoors as opposed to crammed in the atrium area (that's what I read happens if it's raining)!

I just now came upon this thread. We'll be sailing on Dec. 11th as well with our three kiddos. This is the BIGGEST Christmas surprise we've EVER planned. My question is, can we still join the FE list??? It seems like a way to make this event that much more memorable. I HOPE we're not too late!!!

First Off :banana:WELCOME:banana:.
we closed the F.E. at 30 days. because some people who are participating are traveling from abroad. and needed a finalized list before they left.
so i myself can't make a decision on a variance. :confused3

I imagine, if you were to post your names and the kiddos names and ages here someone might "be able to do a little something for you". :rolleyes1 Oh, and a room number

We're having a DISmeet for everyone on embarkation day at 3:00 (before safety drill) in the Promenade Lounge, to meet up and sort out any last mine room number changes/additions. Come on over!

:cutie:

sure its thanksgiving I'm sure we can squeeze one more family in.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We are on the home stretch.

Just booked this cruise last week on a TA offer for me and DS(31). We might pop by the meet if we can - we have a 3:00 boarding time so we will see. Planning to make this a relaxing cruise and just walk around the ports (DS has a new camera he will be itching to try out), thinking about whale watching on the second Cabo day but will probably just see what we find the day of. Funny thing - the only other time I was on the Wonder was five years ago with DH and our other son, booked a GTY and was assigned the exact same room I had before.

Hi. Our FE stuff is all made but I have no problem with adding something for you even though it won't be personalised. We are coming from Australia and leave next week and I'm so excited. I will check the thread one last time before I go to bed on Tuesday night to check for any last minute changes.

Poppin in to say hi. Booked a surprise cruise for ds9th birthday. He will get THE present at the end of his birthday party on the 10th and will be whisked away to the airport after...he has no clue lol. This is our second Disney cruise. Last time dh and I and the three kids went. This time it is just mom and ds9:) We didn't sign up for fe this time. We found it very time consuming last time and a lot to haul around on international flights. It was a huge fe group. Have a great cruise!:goodvibes

I am not sure I will have time to get on tomorrow, so I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
