Dec '10 TR:I Will Not Stop Stalking ADRs Until I Get To WDW!(MARCH TR LINK) 3/26

Wow, those are some impressive ADR's for a two month window. Nice! I'm also curious to see what the Guest Relations CM says when she calls back. I think it's great that you got a call though. So many companies get letters like that and just throw it to the side. Glad to see that Disney is still operating on a different wavelength in that area too.

Thanks!!! I can't believe that for a "peek period" that they are charging me $48 a day for the DDP and I'm still able to get ADRs with times that I want. I was also able to get a resort without any problem with an AP discount so I think that them saying it's a "peek period" is BS..IMO..Unless they are just a ton of college/high school kids that will be there, staying at a value, and not doing the DDP. I look at the $48 DDP and think holy cow, we better get good TS to pay for that in a day..which we did :) I can still remember when we used to pay like $30 for it, plus have the tip included and an appetz! Those were the days..LONG GONE!

CM Dawn has not called back. She said she would be in the office from 10-5 today and tomorrow. I might call back tomorrow since she said she would be in 10-5 and didn't return the call from yesterday. We'll see!

CLP WITH WHOOPI!!!

Happy Sunday Dis Friends!!!

All I have to say is..

GO STEELERS!!!!!!!
..sorry if you are cheering for another team!!

But..I did not become a Steeler's Fan until I was in college even though I lived in Pittsburgh since I was 4.
I probably only became a fan because their training camp was at my college, I worked security for them in the summers, and my roommate was a die-hard fan! Proof you say?

So there you have it! Those were back in 2006 but still. I'm still a fan!

ANOTHER UPDATE:

I did call back Dawn from GR at WDW and she did answer the phone! I explained the letter to her concerning the manager at POP and she is sending 3-1 day park tickets for the hassle. I can't use them of course because I have my AP but my mom, bro, and dad could so I guess that's a good guest recovery..an upgrade to GF would have been nice too haha!!!! She's going to try and email them and if not, they will be mailed in 2 weeks so I'll keep you all posted on them but thought that was very sweet of her!

TRIP UPDATE!!!

SATURDAY DEC 11, 2010

When we left off, we were on our way to Epcot for CLP!! I BEGGED to get a picture by the tree at WL since we were semi dressed up (but not like the one last year where we were in Artist Point wear!) and my dad raised his voice and said no we'll be late..so on we went.

We did check-in with 5 mins to spare but as they say in Princess Diaries, everyone else is simply early! Our ADR time was 3:50pm

We got seated right away in the section to the far right:

135.jpg

It was a good location to people watch, that's for sure!

Our server was great and very friendly, unlike some of the others I've had in past trips! She did a really great job! When we walked in at 3:50, the place was empty but 1/2 way through out meal it was totally full!

Since we were on the CLP plan, we got an apptz, entree, and dessert + drink. I wanted to go with an exotic apptz but went with the soup...

136.jpg

The soup was as good as always :)

I of course went with the steak. If we were paying $60+ for this meal, I was getting the most expensive thing on the menu (that I would of course eat!)

137.jpg

THE STEAK WAS AWESOME!!!!!!

For dessert, I got what I usually get:

138.jpg

Of course it was great!

By that time it was nearing 5pm, bro left to go hang out with some of his roomies that were at Epcot, Dad left to get in line for CLP, mom and I stayed and made a detour to the perfume shop in France...

$94 later, we have perfume, little gift baggies, and other little "free" things. We had it shipped to the room!

When we met up with dad, the line was already to Morocco but he was in Japan right across from the little stand where they tea or ice cream or whatever it is?! He had chatted up a family in front of him that ate in Morocco.

The let us in right on time and we got seats in the 2nd tier but front row! (right behind the wheel chairs).

Whoopi was amazing! She was a joker unlike Chita Rivera who we saw last year. We still thought in a way Chita Rivera interacted more with the choirs and songs but it was nice to see a celeb! We would see Whoopi again but would LOVE to see Chita Rivera again who was a fill-in for Vanessa Williams last year.

After the show we explored WS and finally made our way to the fireworks location which is our normal fireworks location any other time of the year. We can't understand why/how you wouldn't like the stop. Most people don't know about it, it's right in the middle, and it's on a slop for all sizes, shapes, and heights to enjoy!

After Illuminations we headed over to MK and did some shopping on Main Street before heading back to WL to crash! The next day was our sleep-in day AGAIN!! and MVMCP!

STAY TUNED!!!!:
-A WEATHER DISASTER AT DTD
-MARCH 2011 TRIP UPDATES!!!

Hi Megan,

Glad to hear you're at least getting some tickets for your trouble ~ better than nothing! But I do agree, an upgrade would have been very nice!!

Sounds like a great evening with dinner & CandleLight. We saw Whoppi one night and then Steven Curtis Chapman the next. I will say that we did prefer SCC ~~ we've seen him numerous times over the years. The following morning during breakfast we met him in the CL lounge at the YC. He was so very friendly :) Talked with him for a bit and then he graciously posed for a picture with my DD. We found out this was his ninth year for CandleLight; his family now considers it one of their Christmas traditions.

Have a good Sunday ~~ enjoy the game!

How cool that the Steelers had their training camp at your college. I went to MN State University where the Vikings have their training camp. I thought it was cool the first 2 years but the following two years I stayed in town in the summer and didn't like it so much. The fans took over and the fans are crazy!

Great update! Les Chefs is one of my favorites! The food has always been spectacular when we've gone....and I can't say enough about the service, they've always been great!

How lucky that you got to see Whoopi....I'm a little envious:rolleyes1

Thanks!! I'm still jealous you stayed at YC CL. I guess I forgot you stayed at CL but that's awesome! I wish I still had that great of a discount! Have you stayed in any other resort CLs before??

My parents said if we went next year and could see SCC, we would see him. We weren't at Epcot after that night so we didn't get to see him at all but it would have been nice to!

Thanks! I worked every summer and the traffic was bad as were some of the restaurants but we always went out after 7pm and by then it wasn't bad at all. We were also a very small town that was next to a larger town so it gave a bunch of different options in terms of dining/hotels.

It's one of my favs too! We enjoyed our server last March. Our one in Oct was eh... but Decs was good too!

I can't wait to hear about those spiders of yours!!!

Your food looked great :goodvibes

Glad you got good seats at CLP. I have yet to see one, as I dont think Trent would sit still for that. Maybe another year or two for that

Yay for getting some tickets for your trouble :thumbsup2

Thanks!! I'll be curious to see if they are hoppers or not..probably not and if they even come. I've read other reports of people that were supposed to be sent park tickets or meal vouchers and they never got them. She said to call back in 10-14 days if I don't get the email but that seems kind of needy to me like 'WHERE ARE MY FREE TICKETS YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SEND?!' Hopefully they come so I don't have to worry about it :rotfl:

WWYD HELP!!!

Happy Monday Dis Friends!

Okay I'm going to cut to the chase..

I'm faced with yet another resort dilemma...

WHAT WOULD YOU DO!!??

Option one:

Keep our current resort POFQ and DDP BUT possibly add on La Nouba on the day of my birthday (6pm show if it's available)
..but have to deal with sharing buses and how long would we have to allow for ADRs at Chef Mickeys and Ohana on my birthday??!!

The bed size isn't an issue but I would hope to get a refurbished room!?

OPTION TWO

My friend D said she could book me whatever with her CM discount + DDP but would 3 way the call to WDW so that I could make sure all the info was correct..but..

It's $225 more to stay at Wilderness Lodge = No La Nouba but there won't be any bus issues to and from Chef Mickeys and Ohana because we can use the boat, MK direct bus to MK + monorail plus it's my favorite resort overall...

Also I have to take our schedule into account:

Thurs..arrive at MCO at 6:30pm

Fri..parks all day, afternoon break bt AK and Epcot

Sat..no parks but 2 ADRs at Chef Mickeys and Ohana + maybe La Nouba

Sun..parks all day, break after DHS and Epcot before MK PM

Mon..DME picks us up at 1:15pm

So with the schedule is it worth the extra $225 when we might only be there for a little bit Thurs, afternoon Sat, a little bit on Mon and maybe short afternoon breaks on Fri and Sun

Okay GUYS AND GALS...

WHAT WOULD YOU DO??????!!!!!!

I need to know by tomorrow so ASAP RESPOND FOR SURE!!

Ugh this is a dilemma. I would go for WL if you can afford it. Only because you never know when you will be ablr to get back and the resort is perfectly located for your ADR's.

Save the money to spend somewhere else. Since your in the room so little I can't see spending the extra. Just build in extra travel time.

I think you should stick with POFQ. Since a lot of your time wont be at your resort, that money could be used for something fun like La Nouba! Coouldn't you always take a taxi if you are worried about the timing with the ADRs? Plus, the boat to downtown disney from POFQ is always nice. And don't forget the awesome dragon slide at the resort!

Thanks! We were thinking as far as travel time..
Our CM ADR is at 10:35 so we thought leaving no later than 9:15am and if we get there early then just check in early. For Ohana, if we go to the 6pm show of La Nouba, we'd take the Poly bus from DTD after the show ends a5 7:30pm for our 8:35 ADR...or they had an 8:50 ADR that I could book.

Thanks. I thought about the taxi too. If anything, just taking a taxi one way would save time for sure. My brother is also in the area too so if he's able to one to at least one of the meals, that would help too!

We are big afternoon break type of people. It worked out for us staying at CSR in Oct w/afternoon breaks so I'd hope that FQ wouldn't be an issue too.

I think the idea of staying at POFQ and taking a taxi one time will be good. You'll save money that way and can spend the money on something else.

That is awesome that you were at the Steelers Training camp. That would be awesome. Gonna be an interesting Superbowl. I'm a Packer fan though, tried and true. Much respect for the Steelers though, much respect. :thumbsup2

My husband and I are big afternoon breakers too. We stayed at POR in October and brought my MIL and FIL, this was there first trip to Disney World. Unfortunately they were not afternoon breakers...they wanted to stay at the parks from morning to late afternoon and totally exhausted us. It was a great trip, but I was a little disapointed that I didn't get to do everything I had planned because I was just pooped! Next time it is back to our normal Disney schedule.

I think you are right too. I talked it over with my mom and I hate to pay more when we aren't going to be there. I'd rather go back in May, June, or July and stay more expensive but not go to the parks as much even though I have my AP and park $$ isn't an issue.

That game last night sure had me biting my nails which is something I've been trying to give up + diet :rotfl:

I read other threads that posted that POFQ and POR don't always share buses and if they do FQ is dropped off first and picked up first so I guess that's good too! When the park is open till 12am or 2am, we have to do an afternoon break + pool + outfit change!

Congrats on the Steeler Win!!!!!! Those pics of you with the players are so cool! :cool1:
One of my best friend is from Pittsburg & he drove up to the game. It was fun looking at all of his live FB posting.

That is awesome they gave you 3 free tickets! :thumbsup2

Now, where did you watch Illuminations? We did not know where to watch it from when we were there.

I can't believe you had the energy to go shopping at MK afterwards, but I guess we can always come up with enough energy to shop!

Ok, so here are my clear as mud thoughts:

I would say keep your ressie the way you have it now. I'm only saying this because you guys just stayed at WL in Dec and it's been a while since you stayed at PO. If it were me, I would much rather go to Cirque for my birthday (I just might crash your party...lol :rotfl:). I think you should be pretty good with transportation from either resort. Even when we were there last month we only allowed ourselves an hour to get from POP to BC, or the Poly and never had an issue. Our longest bus wait was from AK to POP. That and the fact that you will probably have your bro for a couple of times... I say, stay with what you have and do Cirque with the great AP rate while it lasts! Also, from what I have heard, most of the resort has been refurbed so that shouldn't be an issue. I also have better luck with getting a request when I haven't done online check-in...

So, there are my clear as mud thoughts!

When you are walking into WS there is that wide area between the two gift shops that is a little slope and then like a raised stage right at the edge of the water. That's where we stand!! They don't normally people stand on the raised stage (except CMs) so your view is great straight onto the globe and the ground is on a slant so it's great for all different heights!

Thanks Erin!!! Assuming that I pass in April, they are having a job fair somewhere in Tampa in June so I might be down your way! I'm going to locate the school district and send it to you on FB to get your opinions either way!

Feel free to crash the party! I made all the ADRs for 4 :rotfl:

Now I wonder if you can buy the AP discount Cirque tix online or do you have to do it in person?! We always had to get our CM tix in person at the box office the day of...
Edit::: It does say on the passholder site that you can buy them over the phone and pick them up at the window the day of!!! I do have to wait until 30 days out but hopefully I'd be able to get some tickets at 30 days out!!

Ok so you got me worried about bed bugs. We are staying at AKL and BC in June. How do you check for bed bugs? Is this a big problem at WDW?
