Debate: Vice President Hillary ?

I would love to see a women as Vice President or preferably as President, as long as that woman was Elisabeth Dole. In my opinion, she was the best candidate from the 2000 campaign. (much better than Bush). Of course she would never be considered as Kerry's VP (theres that whole pesky issue of her being a repuplican), and I doubt she'll ever run for office again, but she would have made a great Pres or VP.

As for Hillary, I can not think of anyeone I would trust less as VP or Pres.

Michael Moore? :duck:

I don't think that Senator Clinton would be a good choice for the ticket - I think that the swing vote would break away from Senator Kerry with her as the VP nominee.

As for the outrage over the comments regarding Langston Hughes...

He was an influential black poet - good for him. That certainly doesn't mean that he should be immune from criticism from those that disagree with his views.

I don't think anyone was saying that one could not disagree with Hughes. It's the fact that Steve was attempting to paint Kerry as a socialist, Marxist, etc. because he used a line of a poem that Hughes had written.

Talk about "outrageous."

 Kerry & Hillary in '04 -- that's all it would take to complete a total Marxist/Leninist ticket. Two people who believe communism is the solution to all of America's problems, despite the fact that it has failed everywhere else. I guess that's because the right team has not tried it yet.

Eeyore1954 = Richyams?:jester:

I think you need to look again. I'm of the opinon that accusing someone of slandering Mr. Hughes simply for pointing out something that Mr. Hughes himself wrote is certainly expressing outrage over a differing opinion.

Langston Hughes was perhaps THE most influential black poet of the 20th century, and slandering him amounts to calling Martin Luther King a petty rabblerouser

You are correct, someone did use the term slander. But what the rest of us were complaining about was
And Sen. Kerry has decided to adopt this as his campaign slogan. I do hope his campaign team does a little more research before committing more to this slogan. Or maybe they already have and this is the vision they have for America.
the above attempt to tar Kerry with the communist marxist leninist brush because he quoted this poet from a completely different poem "Let America be America". Saying that quoting someone means you have to subscribe to all their beliefs is surely a farfetched notion.

Well, I certainly wouldn't suggest that anyone should be immune from criticism. And I very much doubt that Hughes would mind discussion and criticism of his poem.

But, my opinion stands of the outrageous leap that Steve was attempting to conjure up.

I could be wrong but I would guess that Richyams is Richiebaseball. They both use the same brilliant tag line.

Maybe you wouldn't, but a lot of people would.

::yes:: I agree.

My dream VP would be John McCain, I really love that guy, heck I wish he'd run for President. If he did I'd become one of those political volunteer freaks. ;)

Nah. Richiebaseball is much more eloquent and insightful.

Agreed. There is more solid evidence to use to identfy Kerry as Socialist, than quoting one line from a random poem

I didn't realize I needed to use emoticons to identify sarcasm. But, truth be told, he hasn't exactly been making many headlines of late.

Yes. I'm quite sure that geography was the only factor considered! You too are full of great strategery! Ever think of applying for a postion with the w campaign? You're a shoo-in, I'm sure!

Read a history book once. It's pretty much a fact geography was the major reason Kennedy chose LBJ as a running mate. They didn't really get along. And Texas didn't much care for Kennedy. Same with Clinton and Gore. Are you deliberatly trying to be dense? I didn't say it was the ONLY factor. But it is often a major factor.

Well, they're only "in play" if you're a republican. :teeth:

That was my point. I thought you were implying Kerry should worry about CA and NY over the South. Like I said, if that's the case, he's in worse shape than I could have ever imagined.

Ohhhh... Now that really helps your argument, doesn't it?

Although, I can't say that I'm surprised to see it.

And your post certainly indicated that you thought Edwards would be selected (or not selected) simply based on geography. You're whole argument as to why Kerry wouldn't select him was because, "Kerry didn't need the South." Geography.

I'm amazed at your propensity to single in on any remark that can be taken as an insult. You really need to develop a thicker skin

I haven't seen a real argument taking place.

dmadman makes a point, you make a pithy comment unrelated to the point, he makes the point again, you make another pithy comment, etc.

Brenda, Brenda, Brenda.

Try re-reading the thread. Perhaps slower this time around.

As I'm amazed at your propensity to turn toward insults and derogatory comments as arguments and support for incorrect and unsupportable ideas! Or was that to boost your obviously low self-esteem?

You have to remember, ThreeCircles is very easily offended. If I'm not mistaken, he was the one that accused someone of being sexist because they used the word "manned", as in "manned space flight".

I've read it, but thanks for the advice. I've seen that you are doing what you do on all threads when you disagree strongly with someone. You make comments about their personalities, their beliefs, anything at all to take the subject off the debate that is taking place.
