Death to this attraction!!

Disers, I've seen my share of attractions that were just BAD. What would you get rid of? What would you replace it with?

My choice: It's a small world. Of course I know some people will want to kill me for saying this but it's been around for ages and is, honestly, pretty daft. The animatronics are so 1980s. I'd bring back the cable cars any day to replace it. Now, if you still wish to hire a hitman to come get me (Does the Disney Mafia exist?:rotfl: ), I'll make a concession and get rid of Living with the Land.

We LOVE It's a Small World; where else can you go and hear the song in your head for months and months to come!!!

Love the story about your dad and it sounds like he knows exactly how to cheer you up on a bad day!

Okay, that guy you were dating must have been cool if he had the attraction on his iPod! :cool2:

I agree that the last segment could benefit from a more current update -- maybe that will happen since they've been doing some work on the attraction this past year.

btw...I love the picture in your signature!

Thanks, the cool ex boyfriend took it ;) I love that pic.

that was the best part of the CP, lots of Disney geeks to spend my time with ;)

Strangely enough.. I love .. and I mean LOVE.. COP.

On my first trip to WDW back in 1995, I made a point of going there first. Walt's hand in that attraction is so clear and seemingly present to this day.

The '.. splashed paint all over my rump.. er rumpus room' - still makes me laugh. And honestly - it's not that funny. It's all in the delivery. And it's awesome to still hear Mel Blanc as Cousin Orville ( No Privacy 'round here at all ! ) And few people know that the voice of the grandpa in the final segment, is the man who voiced the original main character.

I was thinking the last time I was on it -- How do you update the final segment ?

The best I could come up with.. is small changes. :teacher:

- Change up the wardrobe in the final scene.. (Oh the sweaters.. the horror! :scared1: )

- Change the Virtual Reality game on the 'high deaf' (spelling intentional) to playing a game online with headsets talking to other players around the world. Grandma could beat some unknown player from Slovenia or maybe Japan?

- Get rid of the talking stove bit. Change that out for something else. Maybe work with GE again and put in a "Trivection" oven.. you know with Convection / Microwave / Infrared.

- Maybe work in one of those GE Fridges with the screen in it and access to the internet from the front door of the fridge!

- A fibre optic Christmas tree? Not sure how realistic it is.. but it'd look sharp.

With these heritage attractions, I think something Walt said really rings true.

"I love the nostalgic myself. I hope we never lose some of the things of the past."

On a lighter note.. Stitch can go. I didn't believe it was possible but it was even worse than I had read on here. Certainly, being an adult, I thought Alien Encounter was better.

The shape of the seating would lend itself to some encounter with an animatronic version of a character of some kind. Like a 'show'.

------
Attractions I'd love to see return..

I loved the TimeKeeper attraction. I thought it was great. Robin Williams made the pre-show and certain bits of dialog so funny.

The Skyway .. love to have that back. Real shame that potential litigation and 'risk' made it go away.

Thanks,

John

Get rid of Stitch, The Country Bear Jamboree and The Jungle Cruise. These are about the only things that I will not do on my trips to WDW.

What I would like to see come back - World of Motion, Horizons and Dream Flight. Three of my all time favorites!! I miss these rides a lot.

As you can see from the varied responses,
if everyone was allowed to "kill" an attraction they did not enjoy, there would be NO ATTRACTIONS LEFT in any of the parks.

I just don't worry too much about the attractions I don't like.

I don't ride 'em.

If other's DO like 'em, they can have my spot.

So, if any of YOU don't like some of MY favorites...
please do not "kill" them.
I want to still enjoy them!

OK?

Get rid of Stitch. If they can't come up with another ride, just turn it into a bathroom. Anything would be an improvement.

We love its a small world so I'd never want to see it go. My picks would be:
The country bear jamboree, this show is so outdated and old and borring-half the theater was asleep. Parents, if you want your kid to nap, take em here.
I'd also like to see stitch gone, sounds dangerous and the making of me (what was that????)

OMG I AGREE! This bear show SUCKED SO BAD! GAAAHHHHH I nearly fell asleep!

I love love love COP. I don't like Stich and I don't care much for Buzz Lightyear either.

hehe...this is a good thread!

Stitch is horrible, but The Country Bears has to go! It is just awful!

I mean, atleast we can laugh and joke about the chili dog burp from the Stitch ride, but there is nothing redemable from The Country Bears!

I like It's A Small World and Living with the Land. :confused3 :)

Anyway, death needs to commence to the Kilimanjaro Safari 'Poacher' storyline...Sounds Dangerous, and probably Turtle Talk with Crush.

COP for the win (by that I mean I love it and under no circumstances are they allowed to change it to something else like they did in Disneyland)

It's not only a cool attraction but it's calm and nice and cool inside on a summer day, never a line, catchy song (need to find it somewhere...) Perfect place to catch a quick nap if need be or just be able to sit down somewhere comfy

they do need to update the last part though... the Nintendo 64 had better graphics than that and we already have the virtual reality goggles they were using... the speech for the oven is the field I'm going to go into if I can't be an imagineer... I just hope they don't change anything else if they do update

There are a few attractions I haven't visited in many years because I didn't like them and I don't make time for them now. I still wonder how Country Bears is still around ???? and I hear Stitch is awful but honestly, I've never tried it. There are several at Epcot I haven't seen in years as well, but I remember thinking (years ago!) that several of the movies in the WS should be updated or jazzed up somehow.

Patty (14 days til POFQ):yay:

There are a few attractions I dislike and I avoid them, keeping that time to ride the ones I do like more often. This way, we keep all the attractions for everyone to enjoy. No one has to be concerned about their favorite attraction being ripped from the park .

I agree 100%~

This one is SO contrived. and jerky too! I mean, c'mon, if the tour guide rotated every other it may keep it more alive!

Small World, CoP and Jungle Cruise are to me classic Disney. I do agree Jungle Cruise needs major updating. My last trip we went on twice and different skippers using almost the same script. CoP is the best but now I can't seem to get that song out of my head..."It's a great big beautiful tomorrow"

Rides/attractions I would get rid of Stitch and Swiss Family Treehouse

Rides to return...Mr. Toads and Skyway

My vote would be for Tom Sawyer Island and the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. It's time to put something better in those spaces!

gonna have to agree with the majority and say Stitch's Great Escape is quite possibly the worst conceived idea in the history of rides. It's just gross...not fun at all...gross, foul, WRONG in every sense of the word. Everytime I think of that ride I gag...hot chili dog burps, being spit on...good lord how UN Disney can we get. :sad2:

On the positive side, my family LOVES Carosel Of Progress!!! It's the first ride we go on when we enter MK. They need to keep the classics around...it's part of the history of Disneyworld...and if rides like Stitch are supposed to be replacing the "old" rides...no thanks...give me IASM and COP any day!!!

I agree with all that have been mentioned so far - IASW, Sounds dangerous, jungle cruise needs to be redone. But am I the only one who thinks Carousel of Progress should be loooong gone?!

What!? I enjoy it even if the song is as annoying as IASW. The attraction still packs in crowds. Even on days when the park is totally DEAD, the auditorium is always half full. So a lot of people still enjoy it. They have updated it the last time I went, which was about six months ago.
