Deadliest Catch Season 7 OFFICIAL thread!

Doesn't matter to me. Can we get the mods to merge the threads somehow? I started it this moerning because I hadn't seen a thread started yet!

But WOW! What a start to the season. I loved the tribute to Phil at the beginning. I'm ondering how. NW's Jake is going to fair with Edgar this year.

So much going on in my head, I can't begin to process it!

I started the other thread, its fine with me if they combine them. I'm just glad the show is back on!:thumbsup2

Truer words have ever been spoken!!!

I was scared for a good amount of time in the off season!

I'll shoot a message to the mods to see if they want to combine or we'll just let one of the two fall into Community forum oblivion. :teeth:

I was too. When I heard of all the stuff going on with the Hillstrand brothers I was worried. Those guys are great, and the show would not have been the same without them. It was tough enough for me seeing the Cornelia Marie without Phil, and I knew that was happening.

Sig was in that mess, too.

I really wonder what went down during the extra filming. Sig has had such a tough couple seasons.

I'm glad the Time Bandit boys are back. Without Phil's humor and light every episode, I was afraid the show would become too serious.

I think that's the one thing I missed the most about last night's episode. There's no one right now with a crazy laugh who has such a great spirit. IDK if it was the bird houses he built or what, but I am sure going to miss the fart bubble talks.

The new captain of the CM is an ***.

I like the new boat, Sea Brooke, and the capt of that boat. He seems like a reasonable guy.

The capt of the Ramblin' Rose gives me the creeps. I don't know why.

I agree with all of this.

He did have a semi-reasonable point... if I was trying to get my boat ready and we were the last ones out of port and no sign of being ready anytime soon and 2 of my guys took off for a long period of time (esp. my mechanic) I'd be T'd off too!

I would half expect them to make Jake take another test after being gone so long and wearing his glasses, when it was that overcast, the whole time. He always had his glasses on last season to cover his eyes. And the mechanic (Steve?) looked messed up. The whole thing just seemed so sketchy!

I really want Jake to be okay. My BFF battled addiction and it a horrible, long road. He won't make it through unless he wants to.

I think it's going to be very rough on the CM this year since Derek is so.much.more.different than Phil. He's an old-school captain. He probably uses John Wayne toilet paper...

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the Sea Brooke pans out.

You're not the only one! He's got crazy eyes!

You're not the only one! He's got crazy eyes!

I feel that Jake and Josh (ok, probably just Josh at this point) should be in charge of the boat, since between them, they own 50% of the boat.

The new captain owns nothing, has no stake in the boat, and comes in like he owns the place.

If I was Steve, I would have walked off that boat and never looked back after Derrick talked to me that way.

He won't last long. You can tell Josh is already regretting hiring him.

I'm sure it will be worse before it gets better, but for now, since neither of the boys have enough experience to run the boat, they're going to have to get someone in there that does.

I thought Derrick said they were in for 1/4 of the boat?? (that number did surprise me)

I think Jake owns 1/4, Josh owns 1/4 and Cornelia Marie Devlin owns 50%.

I thought he said they each own 1/4? :confused3 And I wonder if they were actually the ones that hired him or if it was the woman (can't remember her name) who actually owns the boat. Wasn't there a woman who owned the boat along with Phil? Am I remembering correctly? Maybe they all made the decision together? Either way, I think they need someone who's going to come in an demand respect. They all respected, loved and admired Phil, but as much as I love them, they do seem to be a ragtag bunch at times and might need a little kick in the butt. I too would have drug tested Jake again. And I think that's why the new captain was so upset. He trusted the engineer to keep an eye on Jake and make him walk the straight road, and instead he kind of when along for the ride. JMO.

Waiting to see how things work out with Edgar. I'd miss him so much if he were to leave, but I see his point. And how does your body take that beating all the time? They make it look so easy all the time, but when they do the shots with the ocean behind them while walking the deck I really start to get

This.

I think that whoever took over the cm had to be a ******* to keep the brothers in line though. I was actually happy to see the drug test happen too.

Okay! That's why I was thrown by the number. Granted I started the show an hour late (was watching my Cubs get pummeled by the 'Stros). I may have just misinterpretted the numbers!

They showed both boys talking to him shortly after Phil passed. I wonder if it was one of his friends?

That sounds right

Glad I'm not the only one. Steve looked angry, like meth-rage angry. It's almost seemed like he went in looking for a fight. :(

Cornelia Marie Devlin owns 50% of the boat. Jake and Josh own the other 50%.

Per Wikipedia:

History
The Cornelia Marie was built in 1989 in Bayou La Batre, Alabama on commission from original owner Ralph Collins; she was one of the last boats built by Horton Boats. Named after Ralph's wife, co-owner Cornelia Marie Collins, she is 128 feet (39 m) long, 28 feet (8.5 m) wide, and carries 28,500 U.S. gallons (23,700 imp gal; 108,000 L) of fuel and 3,000 U.S. gallons (2,500 imp gal; 11,000 L) of fresh water.[1][2] The Cornelia Marie fishes for King, Tanner, and Opilio crab, and also does Salmon and Herring tendering. She features an aquamarine and white paint scheme with yellow banners bearing the ship's name.

Ralph and Cornelia Marie divorced, and Cornelia Marie took ownership of the boat. She eventually sold partial share to captain Phil Harris. His share is currently in possession of his estate.

 Don't know why I thought the owner's name was something other than Cornelia Maria. Thanks for the wiki. :thumbsup2

My family and I met Edgar last year when we went to Disneyland in CA. He and Sig were there for a cooking demonstration of some sort (lots of chefs were there). But he and his family were just touring California Adventure that day, and I recognized him. He was so nice and let us take pics with him and talk to him for a moment. He is very skinny! He should try to fatten up a little before crab season!

If I remember correctly, the boat was owned by Cornelia Marie and her husband. I think when her husband passed away, Phil bought half the boat. Cornelia Marie owns the other half. I believe Phil was a deck hand on the CM before becoming the Captain.

The crew is not going to make it easy for Phil's replacement. They simply do not respect him.
