dd's bat mitzvah -- update

she's been working diligently with her tutor and is learning the appropriate prayers, and soon she'll start writing her speech.

we've got the d.j booked, and we're ordering the invitations tonight -- have to make sure ours are differnet from the ones she's received from all of ehr friends for their parties -- and we'll hire the photographer next week. then I need a florist/decorator, and party favors, and we're all set.


except for clothes for all of us, and hair, and...

I saw a t-shirt in the Judaica store, it said "I survived my daughter's bat mitzvah."


I'm beginning to understand the sentiment.

On the back of the t-shirt it should say "I've told her she can't get married until she is 30" LOL

Have fun. I have been through two so far and have one yet to do. At our Temple (2300 families) we have to have a partner for all bar or bat mitvahs and that can be a great deal of aggreviation. At my DD's bat mitzvah, her partner wanted tulips at the flowers for the center piece despite the fact that in June Tulips are not available. The young lady got really upset with this and yelled at my wife at one point.

lol, Kyle. my sister mentioned to me that she thought cherry blossoms would look nice at dd's bat mitzah.

where would you find cherry blossoms in November? not going to happen.

at our temple (600 families) if you have a Satruday morning service you'll probably end up sharing with another family, but if you pick Saturday evening -- as I did -- yours will be the only bar/bat mitzvah.

of course, being that we live on Long Island --

there's another bat mitzvah in our temple that morning, and her party is saturday afternoon.. and a friend who belongs to another temple is having her bat mitzvah that morning but her party the same time as my dd's. and last week one of dd's friends at camp told her that his bar mitzvah is the same day, too. oy.

I should rejoice that Jewish youth is thriving on Long Island, but it's going to be a busy weekend.
