DDP and DVC quick question

Hi All! Forgive me for asking but I'm having a total moment all of a sudden. Do you pay for the dining plan before or when you arrive at the resort? I know you have to add the dining plan to your dvc reservation 48 hours before you arrive, but I can't remember if you have to pay upfront or when you get there. I'm hoping to be able to use a few disney giftcards we received towards it. Thanks for the help I know I should know this.

You pay for the DDP at check in.

Sometime this year you will be given the option to pay for the DP in advance or at check-in.

From a news item on the DVC member website:

Members who prefer to pay for their Disney Dining Plan prior to arrival will be able to do so through Member Services when booking their reservation. Members who don't wish to pay in advance will still have the option of adding their Disney Dining Plan to their reservation as many as 48 hours prior to arrival and paying for the plan just prior to the start of their vacation.
