We are staying 6 days, seven nights. We are trying to decide which would be better and save us the most money.

We are a family of three:
Dad, Mom and 12 yr. old skinny son..lol :rotfl2:
son and mom split meals alot too....

We are not great big eaters in general. Here is a typical day for us at WDW.

breakfast- cereal or cinn. roll
lunch- hamburger or tenders
supper??? 4 out of 7 would be sandwhich, soup and cornbread/crackers, salads, tacos, spegetti....etc.
3 nights- 1 char. meal and 2 others such as rainforest, brown derby.....

Would we do better not adding the meals? or the card? It seemed limiting....only some places to use card or meal plan.

please help up :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I would think that DDE would be your best bet. Are you a AP holder? How much is the Dining plan...$35 per person per day?

We did DDE only because he are DVC and AP and right now you can't do the 35 dollar a day plan with those (only rake rate rooms with MYW tickets.)

So if you can do MYW plan it is a good deal. However you will end up with more food then you are used to. That isn't nessasrly a bad thing. You also might end up eating at some places you wouldn't otherwise.

The brake even point for DDE is spending 250 on food, more if you are only a FLA resident and not AP holder. (then it cost 75 to join.)

We are doing 3 trips in the 12 months so we will get more out of it. Also our 1st trip we had 10 people in our group so it paid for its self in 2 meals. :Pinkbounc

DDE is only good at the sit down places (exepct AK, and then you can't use the vouchers there that is a good deal.) So unless you plan on eating at many sit down places, it might not pay off as fast.

I would do the MYW if I could. We couldn't so we didn't.

Because we are a family of 2 adults 1 preteen....we should not do DDE unless we are eating alot of sitdown meals.

MYW seems to high priced too! WHAT TO DO???

I looked at it this way. Having made all of our PS s for June, the 4 of us (2ad -2ch), and having our menus planned - it was $336.00.(Lunches and dinners only-planning on bringing donuts or something for on the runs) Now with the MYW package total of $360 - we get ALL of the meals I had tentavely planned WITH appetizers and an additional snack during the day for each of us. I did need to change 2 ressies (cancelled Le Cellier lunch and a San Angel dinner) but I picked up a Spoodles and we'll have 1 more lunch at Whispering Canyon. At $35 per day per adult (and only $9.99 per day per child) you can't go wrong. It also opens not only for a lot more food, but a much larger variety.

Heck when you realize the steak at Spoodles is $28 alone - you can REALLY take adavantage of this program.

Have a Magical day,

Andy

64 days and counting!!

The MYW is a great value, but you would have to adjust your normal patterns a little bit to take full advantage of it. I wouldn't think the DDE would make any sense at all for your needs.

When I looked on the DISNEY website and compared MWY with and w/out dining....our cost difference was $800.00. WE were going to have to pay 800.00 more for the MWY dinning plan. I do not understand the savings....

Like I said, We are a family of 3....dad, mom and small 12 yr old who shares meals mostly with mom....

I DONT KNOW>>>>>>I AM SOOOOO CONFUSED! :confused3

The cost for 3 adults (12 years is considered adult) for the My Way dining option @ $35 pp per day is $735. That gives you each one counter meal, one sit down meal and one snack (water, soda or ice cream) per day. The cost includes all tax and gratuity.

still do you think we will spend that much???

also that means we still have to pay for our breakfast too...right? :teacher:

2Timer, take a look at this link regarding MYW. It give you actual costs and examples. The reality is, unless you eat outside the parks much of the time, the plan should save you money.

Are you really staying 6 nights and 7 days? If you get MYW dining, it will be for 6 days (equal to your resort stay). If you and DS share a meal during the day then you will have extra meals for all of you to use on your last park day. Also, for $100/day you can easily spend that on one sit down meal for 2 people considering you get an appitiser, meal, desert, beverage, tax and TIP (the real savings comes with the included tip).

I would go to allears.net and research the menu prices of your typical meals at your favorite resturants and see if the $35/day is a better deal.

For us, $35/day isn't that great of a deal until you see that we will have 5 nights lodging, so 5 days of food. We will be in the parks for 6-7 days, but our kids aren't big eaters. I am guessing they will order 2 meals for the 3 of them at least once/day, meaning we will have 5 meals left over for our 6th and 7th park days which brings the cost down to about $25/day for us.
