DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Morning all from conspiracy nut central. Seems like the CDC has issued new guidelines on congregating with the vaccine. As the year is done, the pandemic end declaration should be soon enough.

On the homefront, I have 3 more training days on the calendar next week and that's it. I meet with my boss again Thursday and then will be on my own. Can't believe all these smart medical people think a conspiracy nut is ready to work solo. It's a scary world out there. :scared1:

Morning folks.
Whelp, I didn't get called in this morning, which means my next time I go in to work is April 2nd.
Very happy about not working for a bit.
Now if only there was something to do over the next few weeks!

Enjoy the time off. Any plans?

Yes! We watch quite a bit of US TV and that's something that always makes me shake my head.
"Try new Avera! It's the only cure for you! Ask your doctor to prescribe Avera today!
May cause blindness, uncontrollable explosive diarrhea, extreme hair loss except on your hands where it causes extreme hair growth, dizzyness, vertigo, projectile vomiting, tremors, stuttering, uncontrollable laughing especially at funerals, inability to talk or walk and death."

But, I'm guessing Canadian medical care/ insurance works the same way? The patient's doctor wants to do X procedure but the insurance's doctor wants to save $ and won't approve it until spending money for Y & Z first.

Dear Subscriber

Congratulations! You are now the owner of your very own Danco COVID friendly DIY "Call it at home" kit!
Just use some or all of the suggested following phrases!
That's it
I'm Calling it
Work week over
Everyone out
Last one standing in (insert random Disney Bar of your choice here) for (insert random Whiskey or Rum based cocktail here)
Gets to take (frantically search for female Disney Character that has yet gone un-besmirched, or just throw in Cinderella as she's always game) home
And, let me tell ya, (insert nefarious activity that is vaguely illegal in Alabama, or a dubious metaphor for Ladyparts)

And there you go! Congratulations! You called it!

For that full experience, try saying it in the same accent Dick Van Dyke murdered!

(No time to think of one this week, regular programming will resume next week. Unless this whole Calling it at home thing takes off, then I'm off to the Maldives with Bezos.)
Have a great weekend chaps.

Have fun in the Maldives once your business venture gets going. Maybe you could pitch it on Shark Tank to get some quick capital?

Wait...What?!? Do we keep working or what?!?

You have to keep working at your job.

Those you on the book of face may have seen I took matters into my own hands, and as Danny couldn't get to the dole whip, the dole whip had to get to Danny.

I'm having deja vu.

Actually looked into getting one when you posted... had to walk away from the edge. I'm trying to lose weight...
West London is posh, so they all sound like Mary. Like the Lady K. She's from that neck of the woods. It has its advantages.
Describe those advantages in detail
I hadn't had enjoyed a job this much in a long time.
Good to hear!
Huge lottery win last night so I'm watching House Hunters to see what I can get. What do you think I can get for $11?
Take the money and buy a stamp and mail a begging letter off to one of those home reno shows.

Now I have a picture in my head of a bunch of Drs milling around holding syringes of vaccine, looking to poke people.

Not really sure. It doesn't come up that often, but... I'm sure that Drs do try less expensive methods/tests/drugs to see if the more expensive ones are necessary first.
But my point was is we don't have ads like you do.
Vacation? Nice! Whatcha planning on doing during your time off?
Enjoy the time off. Any plans?
Well... not much. I can't go East, West or South... so I guess I'll go North. What's up North? Not much. Far North is interesting, but to do that I have to take an overnight train and that concerns me a bit. So I'm probably going to do a 4 day road trip to a few spots I haven't seen yet in my own backyard.

So for my Canadian brothers...when the world returns to normal...thoughts on a vacation to Calgary. Pros and Cons. Only 5 hours from there. I know that have a BA rodeo.

I've been out that way a couple of times. Calgary is a nice spot, lots of development over the last 20 or 30 years. You are also about 1.5 hours away from Banff as well. About the same distance from Drumheller, just in the other direction. Drumheller is where many of the dinosaur fossils have been found.

The Calgary Stampede is the rodeo you mention. I've never been for that but I would love to some time. One of my best friends lives just north of Calgary and he says that is an amazing time.

How about with younger kids? Anything to do for them? I am sure they have some museums or something for kiddos.

Describing things in detail is one of the advantages
Nods head as if understanding.

Darcy hit some high points. Banff to the west is beautiful.

It's been many, many years since I've done anything but drive through it, but... the zoo was really good as I recall.

Morning, Gents! Had a good meeting with the National Commander of the VFW. Outside that it was a pretty quiet day. Today looks to be about as normal: Laundry, cleaning, organizing....the usual. Have a good day.

That's awesome that you're so close to finishing up the training. Are you excited for having your training wheels taken off? I personally can't wait until I get out of training. Training is the one part about a new job I hate, but it's a necessary part of the job. I've only been training in the offices for 3 days now, and I've gotten a good handle on how to check-in/out a patient, and have done it for the most part by myself for the last 2 days, but I know I still have things to learn so it's good that I have people around me. I'm not sure how many more days of training they'll have me do, but I'm looking forward to getting the training wheels taken off.

Good to hear!

But you'll go somewhere. Better than just sitting around the house. I'd love to explore more on my days off, but I always feel the wife wants me to stick around the house.

Happy time travel day. Still didn't win the lotto though. Have a magical day.

I agree with you about the ads for medecine. Why advertise to people who aren't doctors to ask their doctors for medicine they don't need?

As for the other, it's the problem with having insurance in medicine. I go to my ortho dr because I hurt my knee. Before my insurance will approve an MRI, they have to have a standard x-ray to see if bones aren't broken. Now, the insurance company dr reviewing my chart has more decision making than my chosen Dr and my own common sense as I didn't have any impact issue that would have resulted in a fracture. I suffer a bit more radiation and a $100+ cost for an unnecessary procedure. Then, the insurance approves the MRI. I'm not really sure how that saved money, time, or benefited the patient.

On the observation side, I've enjoyed listening to the Drs at the hospital rip the insurance doctors denying a treatment course for their patients. Still, it causes delays and there just has to be a better way.

Yes and no. Assessing patients, treatment plans, and entering data into computer software is familiar. I'm ready for that. The part I struggle is with the speed, and the important speed. If patients stay a few extra hours for me to figure out which DME company is in network for their insurance, that's not a terrible ordeal. And, while I'm not running into rooms to do CPR, there are a ton of steps involved in some time sensitive areas, like acute hospital transfers, psyc admissions, etc. I don't want to be the reason that someone is delayed in accessing care. I told my boss the same. So far, she and the team seem supportive.

Morning all, did someone say it was pie day.

The zoo was mentioned. I've heard Drumheller is good for kids. Not sure about the ages but the gondola ride to the peak at Banff is pretty cool.

Ah, ok...I get it now. You do have a lot on your plate. I can see where you'd be a bit nervous. I'm just lucky that all I have to do is check a patient in or out.

Morning, Gents! Well, in true New England fashion, it was near 60F on Friday and it snowed yesterday, not enough to accumulate, but it did snow. That's New England for you. Today I'm off to a primary care office for training, so we'll see how that goes. Well, that's all I've got. Have a good day, gents, and we'll chat at the end.
