DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Top O the Mornin Dads and Happy Friday Eve! Just absolutely crazy times at work, enough said about that topic. Getting ready and looking forward to the holidays for both the family time and time off work. Also looking forward to the final Star Wars Skywalker saga ending. As a hard core SW fan, I just sit back and enjoy the films for what they are, entertainment and the fact that it is a big thing DS and I share between collecting, SW conventions, the movies and just talking about "what do you think................." Have a good one gents!
Gentlemen...

Yeah, I know, poor choice of words...

I think I've tried to avoid the rest of the world long enough (especially as attempting to do so is neigh on to futile in the first place). That said, the best place to get back into the swing of dealing with other lunatics has to be amongst folks that are just as busted as I am. Don't think any single group would qualify for that title near as a well as a bunch of dads that are Disney fanatics (and also nutty enough to still be posting on an "antique" message board).

Hope all y'all are well; hope to get to know some of the newer voices a bit better; and looking forward to getting back into the conversation. now then...

Pass the rum.
Great to see you back in the saddle! Several of us also post on the less "antique" places but they just aren;t as "cozy" as over here.
'Morning all...

Thanks for the various welcomes, guys.
I'll be trying a bit harder to stay engaged over here. Shutting the rest of the world out just doesn't work, so It's better to make yourself deal with it.

Much has changed in the last six month, but much still remains uncertain.
It's that looming and unending "unknown" that causes the most issues.

Depression still has a very large say in my day to day existence, but on the up side, I haven't been blue to quite that particular extent for quite some time (and may that trend continue).

Ahhh, the perils of literal interpretation...

That one could also get your name added to a database or two that ya' don't want to be havein' any part of.

Alcohol: the cause and solution to all of life's problems.
We are all here for you and hopefully our mindless banter helps you in some little ways.

My daily job #1 144 daily commute is almost done for this week. Getting ready to leave in 30 minutes.

Then, have to work job #2 tomorrow. Ugh.

Keep telling yourself that, buddy.

If you come down, I can teach you. I used to be a motorcycle safety instructor and have taught many a person.

I know I'm pretty. :lmao: I may take you up on that motorcycle lesson one day. Be careful what you post about. :lmao:

 Stats. Great to see you back, Rob.

For whatever reason, when I read this and realized I hadn't said thank you, I got to thinking about CJ.
I'm debating maybe one day taking a ride down to the keys in his honor.

Yeah, CJ would post about his troubled life of having to travel to the keys to scuba with his friend. DW has always wanted to go to the Keys, as well as Bermuda, Virgin Islands, and Cuba. She has expensive champagne taste for my beer budget.

I need to find ways to encourage people to contribute to global warming more.

Barack Obama bought a massive estate on Martha's Vineyard, which is only accessible by boat or plane. So, he's contributing to global warning and will soon be flooded out, or he knows it's not happening and has nothing to worry about.

Alcohol: the cause and solution to all of life's problems.

A very smart man said that, whenever it was said, as often as it had been said. I'll drink to that. :drinking1

Well, with inventory done I find myself with nothing to do...and as a temp that's not a good situation to be in. Maybe if I fall back on my acting classes and act like I'm a desk, I can be the desk and people won't see me.

Ok, so I now no longer feel so bad. I kept asking for something to do and was told there's nothing to do for now, so just sit back, relax and wait for the problem tickets (what we used for inventory) to come back for recount. So, I'm going to read.

Top O the Mornin Dads! Good to see things are normal around here, well normal for us. Big game tomorrow with ND Michigan and since we are forecasted to get from 2"-5" of rain over the next 36 hours or so looks like some football watching and video games this weekend. Have a good one gents!

‘Morning all…
“…and ain’t it a lovely morning?”
(y’all know the next line, I’m sure)

Dude, please, please, please don't go that route...you weren't here, so you don't know. My daughter took her own life in July and, well, no easy way to say this...

I'm kinda mad at her. Why she felt that was the only option is beyond me and the extreme devastation she left behind and the number of broken hearts, well, I feel it was selfish. She left two young boys without a mother and brothers, sisters, parents, friends whose hearts are broken and miss her dearly. You may possibly think it helps, but it hurts people more than you could ever know.
I cannot express how sorry I am to hear this and for the loss and suffering all of you have and will continue to go through.

I have been around it; I have stared it in the eyes. I also received luck beyond belief in having found something worth continuing on and struggling for. And it is still a struggle, but I do understand the nature of it. Not everyone with that kind of suffering will find the motivation they need.

This won’t help at all, but I can tell you she likely didn’t think her action was helping or was even able to consider the impact it had on others. You’re too alone at that point to realize that there are others and truly believe that those others - if they even exist - don’t want you anyway. While obviously that’s usually not true, in that state you are not able to see it or believe it. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t be angry. You should. But, in her mind, she wasn’t trying to hurt anyone. Not even herself oddly enough. At that point you just want the hurting that controls you to stop and see no other way of doing so. That doesn’t help the survivors one bit though.

Again, I’m sorry for you terrible loss.

I like mindless banter.
I have no mind, so...
that's the type I’m most able to deal with.

My daily job #1 144 daily commute is almost done for this week.
Yep, that commute stinks. I’ve never had to put in more than 90 miles in a day (assuming you didn’t get called back in of course), but I much rather prefer my current drive of a couple miles in each direction.
That will be changing in the near, but I’ll take it for now.

Yeah, CJ would post about his troubled life of having to travel to the keys to scuba with his friend.
Ahhh, the life of CJ.
He did have a way of making you love him while your teeth were gritted in absolute envy.
Do miss talking to him and I greatly wish he were still here making us all envious in spite of ourselves.

Whelp, I certainly don't have anything as witty to say as this:
Well, you set that one up on the tee, mowed the fairway and even manicured the greens. Seems such a shame to take the shot.

The little Danish brickmen are getting their pound and a half of flesh these last few weeks chaps but....

that’s it boys. I’m calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one standing in Belles Library after a few rounds of Makers Mark Disney Select Cocktails gets to take Mrs Iger home. And let me tell ya, if she does to you what Bob does to our wallets, you’ll be empty in minutes.

Have a great weekend chaps.

Good to see you back Rob.

Ok, so I was helping out in the warehouse and got to talking to the guys out there. The subject of me staying came up, and I had said that I have applied for the position I'm currently in. The guys in the warehouse then revealed to me that the new boss for my department wants to keep me, which is a good thing. So either I'm going to stay on as a temp, or get hired on. Now, I'm not one to count my chickens before they're hatched, but it sounds like I'll be employed for a while. Keep your fingers crossed.

Sorry, when I started that, it was not supposed to be a rant. What I was trying to say is please don't take that route because it hurts those you love or love you more than you can imagine. I know things have been rocky for you and I've been praying for you, but don't give up or quit....I know it's not the same as having a job you can count on and not having to worry about the future, but you have a lot of guys here who care about you and we'll help if we can.

gets to take Mrs Iger home. And let me tell ya, if she does to you what Bob does to our wallets, you’ll be empty in minutes.
Wow! That was a great one and hilarious! (sadly very true also)

Praying for you. Kinda the same (or flip side of the coin) as Rob. Hope that means more Mickey bars, dole whips and bacon for you buddy!

:lmao: I have missed those...

And thanks for the welcome
(and for checking on me every so often during my self-imposed exile).

That is excellent news and may they make an official decision sooner rather then later.

I have a similar problem which I'd dearly like to have resolved as well.

Have worked for the same company/industry 39 years (yeah, I'm actually that stupid), but the last remaining part of the business was sold back at the beginning of the year. Of course, when new overlords show up, they immediately start looking for any perceived redundancies that they can be shed of, and I happen to be amongst the cogs that they see as nothing more than duplication. I was scheduled to be put down back in March, but they realized that folks were going to be needed for a while to handle "legacy" processing until they can install their own systems into their newly acquired prize. So... I was "extended" until September. Now they've realized that it's all more complicated then they thought so another temporary reprieve was issued and my DOE is now set for the end of the year (yet in the mean time they also greaty expanded my work load to compensate for those folk that went ahead and intelligently retired last month). The people that I do work for - and who have already been hired on by the new company - very much want to keep me, but they don't run the show and don't get final say. As such, I'm still hanging out down here in purgatory awaiting a final judgment. It's that not knowing that makes everything difficult to deal with.

Ok, I've bent your ear enough, I hush up now.
Again, may your overlords see the obviousness of the situation (and admit to it) and take you on.

I asked my boss about the position, and he said that they hopefully will have interviews in the next two weeks. I'm hoping that my interview is a mere formality as I've been doing the job for several weeks now. As to your position, Goofy, I'm sorry. That stinks to high heaven. I pray the new over lords seen reason and keep you.

Happy Friday. Worked 1/2 day, took the other 1/2 sick day, and came home. No motivation today at all. I need to last one year, 2 months and 6 more days of this two job thing. I thought I'd get a decent Premier League match. Good thing you're not a Southhampton FC fan, 007.

Ok, so I now no longer feel so bad. I kept asking for something to do and was told there's nothing to do for now, so just sit back, relax and wait for the problem tickets (what we used for inventory) to come back for recount. So, I'm going to read.

Or, look annoyed like George Costanza told us to do.

Ahhh, the life of CJ.

Do miss talking to him and I greatly wish he were still here making us all envious in spite of ourselves.

I still think of him from time to time. Did get to meet up with him once. I think his spirit lives here somehow with us.

That's really fast. And I could barely last 3 minutes as it was anyway.

39 years? Any chance of retiring there yourself? Or, optional bonus for you to do so? Is it the health insurance, income, or other combo? I'm not trying to be overly intrusive, just trying to offer a new perspective.

Darcy will sponsor you to become Canadian, which takes care of the insurance. :lmao:
