There… that seems to be working out a bit better.
For the record…
I HATE when I come down with a head cold.
I’m neigh on to useless as a human in the first place, but when you can’t even think for hacking and sneezing, it makes even the notion of being conscious just about pointless.
Maybe I need to stop taking these apparently useless cold remedies and just get bombed instead.
Anyway…
Hope all y’ll are doin’ well at least.
39 years? Any chance of retiring there yourself? Or, optional bonus for you to do so? Is it the health insurance, income, or other combo?
Oh, they’ll gladly let me “retire”. That won’t cost them anything. There are no incentives and we have no retirement benefits of any kind beyond our own 401Ks (which they stopped even matching years ago). As for carrying the health insurance over, the only option there is COBRA, and that would basically be an instant 135% increase in the premiums.
I’d like to just chuck it all, but the Missus and I are still several years away from being able to access either the IRA’s or 401’s and I’m nearly ten years away from my “recommended” retirement age for drawing from the SSA.
I kind’a need to be working.
I'm not trying to be overly intrusive, just trying to offer a new perspective.
I don’t mind questions, and I’m certainly open to suggestions….
Criticisms…
Insults…
General abuse…
It’s basically what I've grown to expect from life.
Darcy will sponsor you to become Canadian, which takes care of the insurance.
That’d be helpful, but I’m pretty sure that won’t cut it.
I’ve actually looked into moving that direction a couple of different time over the past 20ish years, but I just don’t meet the “point” requirements.
Went to a friend's/co-worker's place for a Halloween party last night. Won a bottle of Vodka for best single costume.
Had a lot of fun, too. Got a scratch lottery ticket and won.... $1!
What should I do with my winnings? (The ticket, not the bottle. I've got that one figured out.)
Sooooo…
What was the costume?
As for the winnings…
The vodka is worth more than the loonie but if ya’ want to mail the coin down here to me, I’ll find some use for that $0.77. I guarantee that.
Morning, gents.
Hoping to do.... exactly nothing today.
Hope y'all have a nothing day too.
Well I’ve been trying to sleep since about 5am back on Saturday, but that ain’t been happening.
So, would not sleeping count as not doing anything?
Being sleep deprived... I s’pect that it’s just as well that this is also the monthly closing-week, and I have 12-to-14 hour days starting at 5am to look forward to.
It is surprising that I'm deemed unnecessary, and yet my work load keeps going up.
I'm on board with that. I would have responded earlier, but I was doing nothing...
Well, even as lazy as I am, watching football is technically doing something. So, if you drank a beer and watched football, that would be doing 2 things.
And this is why the both of you are seen by the rest of us as true leaders.
I went from nothing to... working 16 hours.
Almost the same thing?
Clearly you need to better research the concept of “nothing”…
Any luck at all with putting feelers out for other jobs?
Annnnnd.
No.
Prospects not looking particularly good at the moment.
Don't know why I didn't say anything about this before, (old age?), but a couple of years ago I decided my 2.5 hour commute was just too much after 12 years, so I decided that a career change was in order. I've worked in the legal field for 20 years, and the only way I could work close to home was to do switch to the medial field, specifically Medical Coding. I've taken the class, all I need now is to pass the certification exam....which I'm still working on. So this temp job I have now is only until I can pass my exam and get a job in my new field.
Oh, I’m most certainly old…
Old enough to be seen as useless by society? Yes.
Old enough to “retire”… nope.
I like your plan though.
I suspect that push-come-to-shove I will be looking into doing something completely different…
It may well be a bunch of contiguous McJob’s, but I’ll do something.
There’s really no other option.
