DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Back home, but it was an interesting drive, with quite the lively discussion over the trip planning. While nothing is set in stone yet, it sure looks like there will be two MNSSHP going on during our stay :scratchin Looks like I'm going to need to put in some extra Sunday OT

Morning Gentlemen.Crappy weekend for me, was not even up for planning my trip. Hope you all have a magical monday

Happy Monday Morning! Adjuster was out to look at the damage from the ice dams yesterday. Says we have to wait on the roof until it is clear and dry. That will be around September the way we are going. We'll see what they come back with. He flew in from Texas. Apparently there are so many insurance claims that they are bringing in contractors because the current staff cannot do it. Not good for the insurance companies.

Heading into the last week of hoops before playoffs. My team jumped from 4th place to second in the league with a convincing victory on Saturday and losses by the other teams ahead of us. DD teams went 1-1 with the loss in OT to the only undefeated team. It was a good weekend.

Well, depending on if you head to a park there is a small chance we cold stop and say hi. Our flight home isn't till 6:20pm.

PO is right next door to OKW. I'm sure you can find a roommate. Seems like more people on on Facebook now a days. You might be able to find someone there or you can always try to rent points.

The noon news made it seem they are predicting it will stay snow longer here too before changing over. They upped us to 4-8. I guess we will see soon enough

We'll try to get settled as early as possible. When we get closer, I'll PM my cell # and we'll give it a shot. Not sure if we are going to do a park not eh first day or not. Still trying to get the plans settled. We did book a lot of ADR's on Saturday when the window opened.

Behind the Magic Disney Cruise Line is on TLC right now.

DD watched all 3 Disney specials several times over the weekend. I could build one of those ships at this point.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Afternoon gents. Still can't get out of our street here as the rain is just making things worse on our bobsled track street and driveway. Temps drop below freezing overnight and it will be the worse it's been all week - what a mess.

Hang in there and good luck

What happened to your Blackhawks yesterday?!? Crazy loss to the B's. Don't worry though, we'll go scoreless for the next two weeks now.:rolleyes1

Where is that tag fairy? :lmao:

On vacation. You'll have to do it yourself.

Hey Duck!:wave2:

 Not up for planning a trip.:sad1: Sorry things are not going well Carl. Prayers they get better.

Good morning everyone.
The phrase "cut the cable" doesn't really apply since we had DirecTV, but I did cancel that subscription this weekend. Almost $100 month, and when we sat down and looked at what we really watch - 90% of it was regular networks we can get free over the air (NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.) So I invested in a TiVo and a $30 HD antenna for the attic and we're pulling in crystal clear HD from all of the Milwaukee stations and a few of the Chicago ones too. Still deciding if Netflix is worth a try. Opinions?

Wish I could get myself to cut out cable and just go with local channels

Our cable bill is a lot higher than $100, wish it were that easy to get rid of. I only watch a few specific shows and don't think they are on the basic channels. I'll have to look into it. We have talked about NetFlix to see if the shows are there, but haven't checked yet. Saving the $$ would be good though. Congrats on becoming less "attached"!

Awesome! I wasn't even counting on BOG this year so that us a bonus. The later time still gives a full day too. Looking forward to it!

We wondered what with Labour Day falling so late if they'd try and stick a party in on the Labour Day weekend, and extend the trip by one day possibly, but certainly wasn't expecting two to be scheduled. While money is still pretty tight, I'm going to pour on some Sundays and Easter Monday for some prime OT and likely spring for both parties. We had such a blast last time, don't want to miss this rare opportunity.

DW is a bit nervous with the first one, as it falls on a non-park date and I told her I'm pretty sure we can get amitted after 4 on the party ticket alone. I assume they still give hard tickets to the event and not all linked to the magic bands. Granted I don't see us getting there until around 6 or so anyways, that's our Visit to the Kennedy Space Center the girls are so excited about and don't want to rush that.

It was a bit of a cash outlay to begin with ($150 for the TiVo, $150 for the first year of TiVo subscription, plus around $50 for the antenna and misc cables and what not), but all of that pays for itself in less than 4 months. The rest is all gravy.

The special events like MNSSHP get added to your Magic Band. You just scan yourself into the park after 4pm and they will give you a plastic wristband and a trick or treat bag to fill with candy.

That's what we did. I kept Cable Internet, but shut off cable tv. We have Netflix and local network channels. I miss ESPN and live sports, but that is it.

Not to disagree with Barry, but in October, the CM on the DVC phone and the CM and guest services told us NOT to put the special tickets on the MB. Maybe they have fixed it by now.

Sorry to hear about the roof, sounds like you are gonna have issues tied to the volume for the insurance carriers. Good deal on the hoops - congrats to DD and the coach. Thanks, about the B's not scoring for the next two weeks, figures. I know the B's were struggling going into yesterday's game but the Hawks have been as well, they just look dang tired. Coach Q changes up all 4 lines, multiple times during the game no less. The Hawks ain't been scoring but not sure 8 or 9 different line combinations yesterday is the answer. Here's to both teams righting the ships heading into the playoffs as both of these teams are gonna be looking different next season due to salary cap issues.

Meanwhile, our second team, Nashville keeps on rolling with the best record in hockey, Nashville? To the Canadian Dads, how is Nashville as the top team in the NHL playing?

We have Netflix for like $8.00 a month which will provide you with some tv shows and movies. DD uses it at school and DS uses it a good amount and I have used it while traveling so not bad.

When I bought the tickets through DVC Member services, they told me to have the hotel concierge desk add them to my Magic Bands when I checked in. They were able to do it without a problem. I still think My Magic + is in the stages where some cast members have figured out the tricks to getting things done and some haven't. Hopefully word will spread and everyone will be caught up on how the system works.

Thanks. So with one account I can sign into multiple devices at once?

Gave the kids a little heads up about the loot bags: don't expect a haul like last trip where we dumped half just to make weight on the luggage. There is no stroller to hold, just me, and I charge far more for overweight luggage :rotfl2:

Barry - it used to be you could have up to 6 "devices" at a time per account, but only 2 could be streaming at a time. They also had a "family" option that would boost the number of streams up to 4 at a time.

Back in KY and.....

no water in the neighborhood and no idea when service will be back. :headache::headache: We were supposed to head to the big city on Wednesday for pre-op but if I can get everything done in the office we may head out tomorrow. Getting real tempted to bring back the old avatar.
