All 4 of mine transferred no problem just now. I bought them last night, and this was the 1st time I tried combining. I checked balance first and then added to my cards and transferred; I don't know if that route/method mattered.

These are good reminders especially about tracking with the spreadsheet in case your card ever gets locked.

Nothing to do with OP's crappy IT experience but due to some of that chatter it's inspired it's Disney Gift Card Crash Course time!

  • You can buy plastic gift cards direct from Disney, minimum load $25, free shipping
  • Keep every single gift card receipt or copy and a spreadsheet of gift data and where you loaded the gift card. If a card gets frozen by Disney because a suspicion of fraud Disney has 2 layers of unlocking. First, you just verify a couple questions on the phone and they unlock your card within a day or 2. Many of us have been through that one, type a pin in wrong too many times and you can end up there. Second is they demand all receipts for the gift card and loads to the card. That last one is extremely rare but there have been a couple reports and if you can't produce the proofs of purchase you are in for months of misery.
  • Discard every gift card you used after your trip so that if the number was compromised you do not lose your funds in the future.
  • Any refunds go back to to the gc you paid with, whether it's a room, party, merch in park- it goes back on the gc that was used to pay
  • You can only load an e-gift card bought direct from Disney Store to your apple wallet. There is a link in the email to do so. The balance will not update on the card in your apple wallet visually.

It was kind of a PITA getting signature services (phone call - because Disney) to accept multiple cards. They want a minimum individual card balance of 500-1000, and given the total cost of the tour and the fact that they have to take payments from 9 people, I don’t blame them. I had to get pretty insistent.
 

It’s pretty cruddy that Sam’s is doing this to us now. Whenever I buy digital gift cards I immediately consolidate and transfer them. Getting these cards over 3 hours ago and they are unusable seems kinda BS. I could see a 30 minute hold or 15 minutes to make sure someone isn’t messing with the system, but the fact that I’ve had these cards in hand for over 3 hours and can’t consolidate or use them as a form of payment (tried using one for my upcoming cruise and it gave me an error message) makes me worried they just won’t work.
 
Update. I called the 877 number to check the balance of my 1 DGC for which I was still getting an error on the website. Connected me to a representative (in just a few minutes - surprised it took so little time). The card shows a $200 balance but she said it was on hold and the funds had not been released yet. She put in a request to have the funds released and said it would take no more than 24-48 hours. My guess is Sam's and/or Disney has put this in as a security feature to help prevent fraud - basically, a delayed release of the funds. Or just plain nonsense is always another explanation.

I ordered another 4 this morning about 7:45 (with a different Sam's account than the one last night). Got the order confirmation e-mail, but have yet to receive the actual gift cards.
My last one from my first order finally unlocked and I was able to add it and transfer on disneygiftcard.com. Now, just waiting for the DGCs from my second order (on a different Sam's account) to send. Still nothing other than the order confirmation e-mail.

Agreed. I'm willing to jump through a lot of hoops to get some discounts on a DGC, but this has been pretty rough - not adhering to their stated time of 9 am today, locked/frozen funds, some GCs get send immediately, others are nowhere to be found. I purchased my Sam's membership exclusively for this (although am getting it effectively free through Swagbacks). I'm not sure I will do this again since I have no other use for a Sam's membership. There's only so much I am interested in putting up with, and this might just cross that line.

I'm willing to jump through a lot of hoops to get some discounts on a DGC, but this has been pretty rough - not adhering to their stated time of 9 am today, locked/frozen funds, some GCs get send immediately, others are nowhere to be found. The only thing I’ve ever purchased from Sam’s Club is my DGC since we don’t have one in the area (Costco and BJs). If it’s going to become an issue to get cards (and no work around to get more than 4 at a time) it’s not going to be worth the cost of a renewal. I did the same and got my Sam’s Club membership for free with Swagbucks about a year ago and have saved a lot, but this new system is frustrating.

Completely agree with you. It's really bad customer service to deliver cards that don't even work. I'm still waiting for my 4 to be active as well, it's been a few hours now.
 
All mine are still locked.

My guess is they do that to prevent fraud from happening where the person is instructed to buy a gift card and then send it to someone in a foreign country through a scam.

Lol, I was chatting with a Sam's rep after discovering all these issues last night ... on their end, they could not even verify cards had been loaded ... and yet still, I was told "nothing we can do about it." I was like, "for $720, there'd better be something we can do about it!"

I called and the balance is on the card, but I didn’t try using them. Ugh. 😩

This is exactly what I said to DH this morning. My time is more valuable than this PITA.

did you have to call to get it unlocked? I tried last night after the first two arrived (still waiting on the second 2!) but haven’t tried since then. The balance was on them though, so odd.

I did call the DGC 877 number to get the last one unlocked. I don't know if that is what did it or simply whatever time lock was placed on the card expired.

How many hours ago did you place that first order?
My first order was placed last night around 9:45 pm.
