DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
I can imagine, I always feel like you really find out how people are when traveling with them. We have really good friends that we have just learned we can't travel with.

That's exactly right! Our last trip in November we had a total of 17 friends amongst 4 families. When originally planning there were discussions about folks staying with us. I just gave my wife a look and she quickly agreed that it wasn't a good idea! We ended up meeting for a number of meals and to hit various attractions together. It worked out terrifically.

It's morning
It's cold
The heat is on what seems like non stop
Elsa needs to get over herself

I feel like I'm in Darcy's neck of the woods right now!
I am tired as heck this morning. My dog was having some issues and going to the bathroom more than she should. Around 2am she wakes me up and I take her out. But she comes back in then stares out the door. I repeat the process several times. I finally go back to bed. She comes to get me AGAIN. Same deal, so I decide just to sleep on the couch. She wants to go out again! I now SEE her go to the bathroom outside. I truthfully think that it is so frickin cold, that she couldn't go to the bathroom. She does the sniffing and spinning thing that dogs do. I think it was too cold for her to get comfortable and go. I slept on the couch until about 430 and then went back to bed.

Today is going to be a Beverly of a day. My dog however is sleeping soundly at the foot of our bed right now while I am about to head off to work!

Good morning fellow dads!! Hope all the guys at DDCC3 are staying warm. And good luck to the dads running during Marathon weekend, the 5k this morning looks like it was cold!!! Cold WDW is still better the cold/warm TN lol

DW's parents live 45 minutes from Disney, so they're always with us when we go. It's OK, though - her dad is a huge Disney fan and her mom tolerates it well enough.
Aside from that, the only "group" we've gone with is someone we've known since middle school and her son. They love going to Disney and completely surrender all planning and park touring strategy to us. It's nice because there is no conflict over parts of the group wanting different things.:thumbsup2

Every time someone utters the phrase "working like a dog" I point out at any given time, both of my dogs are passed out on the couch, possibly under a blanket. I want to work like a dog.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We met DW's parents for Christmas/New Years in Tennessee this past weekend. (Half way between Wisconsin and Florida.) We gained 20 degrees driving south, they lost 30 going north. Guess who had a better time? :)

Morning guys! Really glad I'm not down in WDW with all those other suckers right now. It's cold enough for a sweatshirt! Ha! Who goes to florida to wear sweatshirts??? :confused3

(I will pack a few sweatshirts for my trip at the end of the month... just in case ;))

Top O the Morning lads and happy Friday Eve :cool1: Not sure how many keep up on this kind of stuff but the walls are up around Sorcerer's Hat at DHS as the tear down of it has begun. Sad to see it go as that is the symbol the kids recognize with Studios. Glad we got one last family pic in front of last week.

Ain't that the truth, add me to that list :rotfl:

You have to love when even the dog thinks it too cold to pee.

-39 here this morning with the windchill. Suppose to warm up tomorrow so it can snow.

Is that CJ?

I feel similarly. The BAH was there from the time I started taking my kids to the World. I understand from a purist POV why people wanted it gone though. It's weird though when you think of how it's been the landmark symbol along with Cindy's Castle, The tree of Life and Spaceship Earth.

I literally had never realized that the Chinese theater was right there, dead center when you look down from the DHS entrance. I was like, "Wow, they did just put the hat RIGHT IN FRONT of the theater.

We went to WDW for the first time in 2008, so I don't know any different. I'm curious to see if Disney throws a curveball and put something else up in its place. :lmao: :lmao:

She was having problems, going #2 a few times earlier in the evening. But she would spin and spin and spin and spin...then come back inside. And you could tell by the way she was lifting her paws that it was too cold on them.

Temp here is 1* with the windchill at -10 to -20. Elsa must be PMS-ing.:rotfl2:

You know, we never see Frozone's wife in the movie - we just hear her from off screen. She kind of, sort of, a little bit sound like Inena Manziel. (Pretty much only that they're both female voices, but work with me here.)
Maybe, like the Marvel movies, Disney and Pixar films all live in the same universe. It's possible!

Only good thing I can say about my teeth is I didn't need braces. I'm an old hat at root canals and crowns now. I found out my employer has a dentist on site and only charges a fraction of what other places do. I know where I'm going from now on. The do vision too and a coworker got designer frames with the polarizing lenses for $150. Which is good cause my prescription sun glasses are shot.

That's a pretty solid benefit there. On site and at a discount. Our dentist is very expensive, but they do good work. I have been lucky so far with only a few crowns recently from my candy eating days as a kid. Let's hope it stays that way.

I never had braces as a kid as we couldn't afford them. My teeth are staying where they are at this point. $10K later, my kids have great smiles though so I can't complain. Well I can, but no one's going to refund my $$.

The dentist does vision too? I don't know how much I'd trust that. I mean, sure the eyes and the teeth are only a few inches apart, but they seem like disparate systems to me.

:lmao::lmao:

I'm with ya. It was -4F without the windchill as I was heading to work this morning. It's up to 8 degrees now. I already told DD that the Elsa dress is getting tossed. We are no longer supporting her temper tantrums.

And that is why we don't have a dog. The fish can't wake me up at night. It also does not poop where I have to clean it, never have to wash it and it's very quiet.:good vibes

I am thinking your are right. Probably just too cold to go. If you had to work that hard to go to the bathroom outside you'd be tired too. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

That looks like CJ?

I was never a big fan of the hat. The theater always looked better there to me. It'll be interesting to see what they do.

I can definitely hear Elsa in the phrase, "I am the GREATEST GOOD you will ever NEED!"

Greetings from KY where it is tropically warm. who am I fooling, it is freaking cold outside. Normally, I'd go home now but it us just so stinking cold.

Don't miss out on a souvenir opportunity.

Was it there in 2000 back when it was MGM? I'll have to go back thru my pictures to see. I did get one on the front on the last trip as well.

I'm all for product branding, but does DHS have to have a monstrous icon in the front like the other parks? The other three at least had a ride inside.

I can't think of a single thing that they would put there ...
]

Just as big of an eyesore that still wouldn't reflect the theme of the park. Maybe a giant ball pit to look like a giant thing of popcorn where you can throw your kids inside and pick them up when you leave the park. :lmao:.
