DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Well, I made it thru my first week of work in 3 months. That's quite an accomplishment.
Take a bow. ::yes::
Carnival wasn't bad, but it was hard to enjoy with thr smoking on board. I'm a former smoker and still smoke the occasional cigar, so it doesn't me. But, it bothers DW and my youngest dd. So, it was a bummer as she couldn't enjoy the casino and other areas.
Ew. That'd be a no for me.
Nope. You didn't do the accent right. Too Americany.
Sailed DCL 12 times - tough call but the service, ship, island and we got to know a lot of the staff - hard to not sail with them again, and again..........
Pretty good recommendation if you've sailed with them that often.

Hi Gents,
New to this thread but been on here since 2008 with years of radio silence. Let me see
My name is Josh. I live in Montana have a small family farm. First trip was Disneyland in 1984. Was a DLR cast member from 1999-2002. Left for the military in mid 2002. First trip to WDW was 2008. Married and 2 sons (3&2). A daughter on the way in 6 weeks. Recently under contact for a DVC contract so I can leave my kids a Disney legacy and alway have memories of Mom and Dad taking them to Hawaii and WDW. Currently a federal employee after a early retirement from the military. Anything else you want to know just ask.

Morning guys from an overcast London. Seems like some white fluffy weather is on its way. My plan to lay in, again, mercilessly dashed by warring cats.
West Ham, over halfway in the season, have an opportunity to go 4th today. Above, er, Liverpool, Chelski, Dirty Spurs and mile above the Ar$e. As a fan of fundamentally the 4th best team in London, this is not usual territory. We know it can't last, but I sure am enjoying it. The next 2 weeks we play the 2 bottom sides in the league, and could go 3rd. I feel sick every time I look at the league table. This is why we follow sports.
See you tomorrow, when we've pi$$Ed the opportunity up the wall.

Hi Gents,
New to this thread but been on here since 2008 with years of radio silence.
Welcome Josh, congrats on the littl'un on her way. Having a farm sounds like a plan, lots of land and/or livestock to deal with errant boyfriends in the future.

Morning, Gents! Well, I did it. I made my 100 indexed document goal on Thursday! YES!!!! (fist pumping in the air) That honestly came as a a bit of a shock to me because I honestly didn't think I had made it, but I did. I should have reached it yesterday as well, at least according to my calculations. I make marks on a notepad every time I index a document, and I was a bit conservative on making the marks. So, when I reached 100 at the end of the day, I really should have a little more than that. Hopefully...I'll find out Monday. As for the weekend, it'll be filled with cleaning and organizing (the never ending task) and running errands. Well, right, that's it, fellas. Have a good day and we'll chat later. Hopefully see some of you on Zoom tonight.

TTFN

Afternoon lads from a sunny London, waiting for a blizzard which is apparently on Sunday. Got Monday off, to sleep off the Superbowl. Booked DDCC, and the Lady K has signed it off. Looking at flights, so as long as I'm allowed out of the country, I am there.

Ok, have to ask: What would be considered a "Blizzard" in London? When I think of London, snow isn't the first thing that comes to mind.

This sounds like a super stressful way to work mate. Ease up on yourself a bit. I'm my own harshest critic, but stuff takes time.

Yeah, I know, I'm hard on myself, but I have a strong work ethic that drives me. And I do need to relax a bit.

For me, Monday morning starts in 7 hours.

Happy Monday...hope it's a good one.

If you’re serious, they’re all linked in my signature. Enter at your own risk.

I'll tread lightly. (Puts on his Indiana Jones' fedora hat, whip and gun) Ok, here I go.

I feel 25% more cultured just looking at this photo.

You get that much? Hmmm I must be doing something wrong.

16 years! This requires an intervention.

I've not been in 22 years, though I am working on planning one right now...with the full knowledge and okey-dokey from the Mrs.

Nice. I really don't understand why it's not a national holiday.

It should be.

I find that to be so...the loose teas are less processed and closer to natural state, so the flavor tends to be better

I'll have to give it a try sometime.

But.... it's just starting in 5 hours.

Well...that sucks. Hope you have a good Monday.

Wondered this myself. I too have never been on a cruise.

I've cruised to ports in Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore with the Navy...does that count?

Well, I made it thru my first week of work in 3 months. That's quite an accomplishment.

That's awesome! Pat yourself on the back for making through that first week, which to me is always the hardest because of all the training. I've always wanted to jump right in to a job, so that first week is always tough for me.

We use Epic software, and I'm learning what patient assessment notes I have to complete. Since I'm in discharge planning, I have to coordinate with external agencies & forms as well.

What is it exactly will you be doing? Discharge? I still have access to the Epic Playground where I can continue to train for front desk and registration, which I'm going to continue to train in in case a good opportunity comes along.

Welcome, Josh. Someone else will probably say it better than me, but the Chief Bacon Officer will be by at some point to give you your official #. And congrats on the little one on the way. That's cool that you've work at the DLR. Never had the opportunity to work in one of the parks, myself, but I use to work for The Disney Stores in Boston. Man I miss working there. Now that I'm not commuting 2 hours to work, I'd work part-time at a Disney Store if there was one close enough to me.

Morning all from a winter morning in Douglas. Bit if snow for the next couple of days, maybe even a storm tomorrow night. Need to pick up some Superbowl food today, probably a run later but that's about it.

Hope you all have a good one.

Morning all. It's expected to get cold here this weekend with some more snow. Have tennis and Church planned for tomorrow, so I may make it home for the 2nd half of the Superbowl.

Welcome. I'm a retiree too, from KY state government, and just started a new career. My FIL used to own horses and still has his farm in rural KY, and DW and I have considered that route along with driving/ camping across the country. DVC here as well at the Boardwalk. Which resort did you buy into?

I've done my best to manage the team from across the pond for you. There doesn't seem to be that overly dominant team as in years past, and it's been fun to watch.

Congrats on the 100. It feels good to meet those goals.

Yes, I'm in case management, in discharge planning. I still don't know if I'm assigned a floor or floating. Since I've not done either, I don't know which would be better. Things did make seem to make sense on Friday, and I was able to shadow assessments & documentation into Epic. I'm scheduled to shadow different staff for the next month and then be tested before I'm on my own.

Morning folks.
Was up insanely early, but the dogs insisted. Went back to bed, but mostly just lay there for 4 hours. May have nodded off a bit.

Hi Gents,

Social security number. Bank account. Passwords.

All part of the club membership, you have nothing to worry about.

Congrats!

Atta boy. :thumbsup2
Happy Monday...hope it's a good one.
It... wasn't bad... but could've been a whole lot better.
Hoping for a better Tuesday.

Thursday and Friday look to be much better as I think I'll be calling in sick for those night shifts. Minimum the first one. Critically low on sleep right now.
I've cruised to ports in Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Thailand, and Singapore with the Navy...does that count?
Only if you had shuffleboard on deck.
probably a run later but that's about it.
I would, but...
Did 3K yesterday in -20C/-4F. Not easy on the lungs.
Today is colder at -28C/-18F (but blowing wind so feels like -45C/-50F) so no way I'm running in that.
Nope. Too loud now.

Thanks for the warm welcome men!

It was pretty awesome working there during high school. I think I had the greatest job in the world and probably had more money than most my friends.

We bought into Aulani since we live out west it is pretty reasonable for us to get to Hawaii, especially because my parents still live in OC near DLR and we can see then and just catch a flight from LAX. Our farm is cool we have a few animals but focus on produce and eggs to sell at farmer markets.

Ended up being too nice an afternoon so we went snowshoeing in the woods, 4.2 KM.

Morning, Gents, from an as of yet snow covered Cape Cod. Apparently we have a Winter Storm Warning that will start off as rain then switch to snow by the afternoon. According to the latest reports, we're due to get anywhere from 4" - 8" of snow....we'll see about that. Had a great chat last night on Zoom with the guys, though it was short lived for me. Didn't get much sleep the night before, so I called it quits a bit early. Well, that's about it for me. Have a good day, guys, and we'll chat later.

Congrats on the 100. It feels good to meet those goals.

It does feel good to meet a goal....now I just need to keep it and grow to meet another goal. Always have to improve, you know.

Ah, gotcha. I'd eventually like to get into medical coding, still need to get certified, but right now I'll take what I can get just to be in the medical field.

Morning folks.

Hate when that happens.

Yeah...nothing to worry about. Totally legit. :rolleyes1

Atta boy. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Now to the next goal of 120. I can make it. "I think I can. I think I can." :teeth:

It... wasn't bad... but could've been a whole lot better.
Hoping for a better Tuesday.

That's good...hope your Tuesday went well.

Thursday and Friday look to be much better as I think I'll be calling in sick for those night shifts. Minimum the first one. Critically low on sleep right now.

Take Thursday and Friday off, you have my permission. And if anyone gives you any grief over it, just tell them I said it was ok. Ok?

Only if you had shuffleboard on deck.

That's what we were missing. I knew that wouldn't count. :headache:

Thanks for the warm welcome men!

Anytime! This is a great group of guys, believe me. These guys have had to endure my complaining a lot over the 2 years as I've been looking for permanent work. So, great group of guys.

It was pretty awesome working there during high school. I think I had the greatest job in the world and probably had more money than most my friends.

What did you do? I sometimes wish I had transferred to the parks.

No blood type? Okay then must not be a scam

No, not a scam...totally on the up and up. Just ask us and we'll tell you. :teeth:

Gents? This group of reprobates???

Oh sure, scare him off. :confused3

Of course not. 100% legit.

Totally legit. Like 100% legit. :teeth:

Get yourself tested for Covid. You’ve lost your sense of taste.

Ended up being too nice an afternoon so we went snowshoeing in the woods, 4.2 KM.

I saw those pictures you posted, that looked like fun.
