DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Finally Friday, for those of us so fortunate to have this day as a Friday. And for those of you who have to work tomorrow? I'm sorry. I really am.
For me, Monday morning starts in 7 hours.
Oh he does, does he? Well, I'm just going to have to go over Trip Reports board and read some of these.
If you’re serious, they’re all linked in my signature. Enter at your own risk.
We've cruised with Disney, Carnival and Norwegian and have on booked for next year with Royal. So far, NCL is the only one I don't care if we ever use again.
Curious. What was it about NCL that you didn’t like?

There you go. Probably the most English photo you will see today......
And you've gotta have a cheeky custard cream with it.

I feel 25% more cultured just looking at this photo.

I spend too much time here to be involved in another social site. I live through the trip reports since it has been (takes off a shoe to count) 16 years since I have been to WDW.

16 years! This requires an intervention.

Got Monday off, to sleep off the Superbowl.

Nice. I really don't understand why it's not a national holiday.

Booked DDCC, and the Lady K has signed it off. Looking at flights, so as long as I'm allowed out of the country, I am there.

Even better.

It's a cunning plan to convince flat earthers that I am actually at an angle to you guys. Apparently you have a fair few over there

If I ever start traveling overseas, I feel like I'm going to spend most of the trip apologizing and reassuring people that we're not all like that.

Right. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one standing in the Enchanted Rose lounge after several rounds of Old Fashioneds gets to take Belle home. And let me tell ya, if she offers you a lift home in the Dodge Sprinter, it's time for a little Coq au vin.

Have a great weekend chaps.

(see ponzie I'm even calling it in french now ;) )

Curious. What was it about NCL that you didn’t like?

For the most part, it was their terrible customer service.

We did a cruise on the NCL Dawn out of Boston and found most of the staff, not all, to not be very friendly and didn't really seem to care about their jobs. We also found that NCL desire to push you to one of their pay restaurants to be over the top and always in your face. This also lead to a lack of public space on the Dawn which is a small ship.

We decide to give them a second try a few years ago with one of their newer, bigger ships. We had booked, paid a deposit and had confirmation of what we were to be given as part of our cruise contract. One of the perks was the 3rd and 4th passenger free so we verified through our TA that we could add the 4th passenger after we booked as it was a friend of DS and he still needed to get approval from his divorced parents. They told the TA not a problem, just provide the information before cruising. When we tried they said they had removed that perk and wouldn't honour it on our booking. The TA went right up the line and nobody would budge so we cancelled and went with Carnival.

I find that to be so...the loose teas are less processed and closer to natural state, so the flavor tends to be better
This.

Just asking for curiosity as my chances of going on a cruise are about the same as one of the Friday night scenarios coming off, is DCL worth the extra coin? From a bystanders point of view the numbers are pretty big...

This.

Tough question. DCL is pricy but they do offer a good product. Our 4 night DCL cruise cost as much as a 7 night cruise we have done with Carnival. As a Disney Fan, the DCL cruise was great even though DS didn't do many of the Disney things for kids. The ship was spectacular, the food and service was outstanding, the entertainment was some of the best we've seen on the water. Castaway Cay was a great stop but many of the private islands are pretty amazing. There is no casino if you are looking for that. We would certainly do it again but when you look at the dollars and if there are no kids involved, the bang for your buck can be found elsewhere.

Right. That's it. I'm calling it. Work week over.
But.... it's just starting in 5 hours.
(see ponzie I'm even calling it in french now ;) )
Merci.

Oh!
Before I read further I thought "Well, one person with one experience..." but you had two... that's not a one off, that's a pattern.

That last one is especially bad (imho).
Hope you don't mind that I have some stock with them. Couldn't resist when it was around $9/share. Now it's at $25/share, so... poor customer service or not, they're making me money!

Wondered this myself. I too have never been on a cruise.

Thanks for the comment.
Anyone else care to pitch in their two cents?

No problem at all. I would keep an eye on that share price. In my opinion, of the big three they are the one in the worst place with no cruising going on.

Hanging on for now. If vaccination continues as planned... and... no vaccine-resistant variants pop up... :scared:
Then I expect the stock to climb sharply once cruising does start up. If it starts in time. If, if, if...

I've only cruised on Disney, and that was just once. I had a great time, service was impeccable, and I really loved Castaway Cay--wish we had more time there. It was also really expensive.

I just tell people I’m Canadian...

You have to throw in "eh", or it doesn't work.

If I'm being polite and apologizing for stuff, they might suspect I'm Canadian anyway.

Well, at least it's not Gamestop.

Expensive isn’t a surprise I guess. But... get what you pay for?

This is true.

What a wild ride that was! I suspect a few made money and most made a bit and lots lost their shirts.
Or Sorry. Sorry.
Failing grade. Insufficient amount of “sorrys”.

Well, I made it thru my first week of work in 3 months. That's quite an accomplishment.

Thank you all for the warm welcome into the super secret highly exclusive club. As a welcome offering I have bacon and bourbon. For those that don't imbibe I have a large selection of soda.

Thank you!

I spend too much time here to be involved in another social site. I live through the trip reports since it has been (takes off a shoe to count) 16 years since I have been to WDW.

I have been on carnival but it was about 30 years ago and I am sure much has changed. My wife and I went on Royal Caribbean for our honeymoon. She wants to do another cruise but she is insisting on Disney. The Disney cruise was multigenerational and was great! In planning a trip to Da World I realize that the cruise and staying on site are about the same when you factor in food. Crazy!

We've been to WDW for 20 trips and spend a bunch on food. Since I'm DVC, the room is already paid for. I guess that's why the cruise looks too expensive. Carnival wasn't bad, but it was hard to enjoy with thr smoking on board. I'm a former smoker and still smoke the occasional cigar, so it doesn't me. But, it bothers DW and my youngest dd. So, it was a bummer as she couldn't enjoy the casino and other areas.

She would tell me, and she thinks I'm doing a good job. I, however, am really hard on myself and want to make that 100 document goal quickly. I feel anything less is a failure on my part. So yes, I can be hard on myself. As for complicated? Yes, some are a bit more complicated than others. I work on mostly Consultation Reports, which are fairly easy. And all the work is easy once you know what you're doing, it's getting to that point where it is easy can be difficult. The only information I look for, and need, from the document is 1) What kind of document type it is: Consultation Report, Physician's Order, Outside Labs/Testing etc. 2) a Description: Neurology, Cardiology, Orthopedics etc. Everything else is just filling in dates and the medical record number, which then auto fills everything else. It's determining what the Description is that can be difficult at times. There may by multiple reasons why someone is being seen, so at that point you just have to make a determination why and fill it in. And I'm measured on how many I do plus how accurate I am, though to date I've only been told about 2 mistakes. So either my mistakes are being corrected and I'm not being told and/or I'm not making that many mistakes.

We use Epic software, and I'm learning what patient assessment notes I have to complete. Since I'm in discharge planning, I have to coordinate with external agencies & forms as well.

Have a great weekend guys! Irish out........
Afternoon lads from a sunny London, waiting for a blizzard which is apparently on Sunday. Got Monday off, to sleep off the Superbowl. Booked DDCC, and the Lady K has signed it off. Looking at flights, so as long as I'm allowed out of the country, I am there.
I've got the sign off, now just need to find a way out of the country and to save up for this. Can't see any flights yet but hopefully things open up and I can make some arrangements before the prices skyrocket.
Booked this a.m. Jan 5-10 DDC10 :cool1:

Sailed DCL 12 times - tough call but the service, ship, island and we got to know a lot of the staff - hard to not sail with them again, and again..........
