DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
The NCAA cancelled the basketball tournaments? Disneyland closes? But, don't worry, my University expects me to report to work on Monday even though classes are cancelled. And State Universities are called higher education.

Similar to here. Staff in care and nursing homes are allowed to work even if they have been out of the country (with the exception of 9 countries) but DW can't go teach for 14 days. Crazy times!

Government intelligence?

Nope. The flame has the virus now too.

This stuff is really contagious. :lmao:

Here in Sacramento County, our county Department of Public Health went from a containment approach with 14-day quarantines to "F-it" since quarantines aren't stopping the spread. Now the deal is to do your every day normal activities until you're sick, then you stay home. And if you're effectively treating your conditions with over-the-counter medicines, then continue to stay at home, even if it is the coronavirus.

About half the people here are cool with it because the odds of serious injury from the virus are exceptionally low for most people. The other half are completely losing their minds.

Yeah, quarantines could stop the spread if everyone quarantined. But, we gotta go to wal-mart to get toilet paper.

Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria!

Who's driving this car, Stevie Wonder?

Don't lick the flame!

Dogs and cats driving the car while licking the flame? Zombie apocalypse.

And....Disneyland Cali is shut until the start of April.

I think that could be it for the vacation.

That stinks. I'm surprised they are closing for 18 days out.

That bites! Sorry for you and the family.

Government just added some new recommendations here a couple of hours ago. They suggest no non-essential gathering of over 150 people. The cause a number of people, including myself, to be asked to leave the CCAA (think NCAA Div 2) men's volleyball nationals just before the local host team was suppose take the floor. There were lots of parents that traveled from the western side of the country to watch their teams play that are not happy.

Last time I was in Walmart (1) they had a robot going up and down the aisles; it was like the classic Lost In Space robot, but without any arms; and (2) I picked up this dope Golden Girls t-shirt in the Men's Department for $7.88!

And schools are now closed thru April 3. One of weeks was Spring Break. To further stop the spread of the virus, adults must still report to work. :furious:

And the question is whether or not to go to Church on Sunday. For us Catholics, that's not really an option. The Bishops in our Archdiocese did lift the obligation to attend Mass for the elderly and those immunocompromised to attend Mass. If one is sick, then they already can and should stay home.

We don't have robots in our Walmart, just all us self check out non-paid employees. :lmao:

That Golden Girls t-shirt was totally worth risking exposure.

Yeah, I'm pretty bummed out. We've been looking forward to this one for about 6 months.
Start planning the next one. Preferably post-covid19.

:sad2:

Don't breathe on me when you say that.

Lots and lots and lots of TP.
Because as everyone knows, this virus makes you sh!t like an elephant with diarrhea.

Totally worth it!

Morning guys. Starting to get Cabin Fever with this working from home. Have to wait until Disney officially announce they won't be open until I can get my points back. Trouble is, some of them were banked, so I'm hoping they will out them into next Use year. Otherwise I might have some points for rent budgie numbers.
I might start binge watching the Eagles "All or nothing", whilst, doing some work. Because no one is calling me in for quick meetings, I'm on top of everything, and have an empty email, so I'm finishing what I need to do at about 12. This is just weird.

Have a great day fellas.

Man. That sucks! I'm sorry, Dan. Hopefully the next vacation will make up for it.

I can imagine! What a mess.

I saw someone pose a question about the Masters tournament next month: can you imagine trying to win the lottery for tickets your whole life, finally winning this year and then having it cancelled?

I'm on the Session at our church. We haven't put out the official word yet, but we're most likely not holding services for the time being.

Lots and lots and lots of TP.

I thought they did officially announce it.

Spoiler alert: it was nothing.

Well Dan, you could go to... crap, they're closed, ok then you could go to... what?, they're closed too. Well, here a couple of places still open..., under your bed and your basement.

Cheers mate. Lets hope so.

Not in April yet. My worry is it will be about 2 days before they do it.....

Wise words Chief. And a hell of a lot cheaper. We had Dodgers tickets as well, looks like that's done as well...
Spoiler alert: it was nothing.
HEY! Carson almost made it through a season! I remember watching the Champ game with you on FB....

Morning, gents.

I suppose everyone's heard by now, but just in case. Disneyland is closed. Disneyworld is closed as of Monday. Disney cruise departures are suspended.

Whoa...

It's official. I just read Disney's position re: WDW and I imagine DL is similar. Full refunds everywhere or tickets extended through the end of the year. APs extended for the length of time of the closure.

Ouch. Or... "We've been planning to go to Disney for the last 4 years!"
I thought they did officially announce it.
They did.

You would think a Lego guy would have a whole room set up with Disney Lego. He could just play there all day and pretend.

Ah. Yes, closures (so far) are until the end of the month. But... I suspect that will change. This virus isn't magically (or happily, depending on which park you want) going to go away in 2 weeks.

Yeah, but just up till March 31. My res is Apr 11. The likelihood based on Shanghai, HK and Tokyo is that it will run on, but I can't do anything yet.

Yeah, I saw that. Didn't catch the April part til after.

Dear Walt Disney World,

Sorry to hear about your closure. Maybe while Animal Kingdom is closed you could fix that Dang Yeti!!!

Thank you,
A Fan
Dear Fan

Thank you for your letter. We here at Disney take every comment from our guests very seriously. Having said that, considering we're going to be losing money hand over fist during the next little while....

Get stuffed.

Morning, Gents! Long time no talk! Man, I have lots of catching up to do on this thread, and I'll get to it in time. As for where I've been. Well, busy with work and home life. I'm supposed to be working in my new department here at work, but I'm still working on an E&O (Excess and Obsolete) project I started 2 weeks ago. I have over 600 lines worth over $215K of inventory that I'm tossing. Some of that scrapped inventory has made its way into my bag to take home. For instance, I took home over 63' of nylon strapping that was going to be tossed. Not sure what I do with it in the short term, but in the long term I'll use it for something. I've also taken home brackets, clamps, eye bolts, padded cases I'll use for my photography equipment and a bunch of other stuff. I love my job. Well, gotta run, but wanted to check in. Chat with ya later.
