I hope you make it out OK. I am hoping my flight Monday morning isn't coming in from another place that was delayed.

Next weekend is opening soccer game for youngest dd and spring dance performance for oldest dd. So, we drove up to Louisville to surprise my dad a week early for his 82nd birthday. We had a good trip.
Happy Birthday to your Dad!

Positive thoughts that you get out on time or at a minimum with just minimal hassles - safe travels

Good morning fellow dads, I know I have been absent a lot from the boards, hope everyone is doing well, I have a question, I have been getting more and more active in running and exercise and plan on doing the Coast to Coast RunDisney races next year with Marathon Weekend 2015 and Avengers Half 2015 but since those are not until next year I've been thinking of also doing the ToT 10 miler this year, my question is about pulling kids from school to go to Disney, do many of my fellow dads do this?

For ToT I would need to take DD6 out the Friday before fall break (if DD wants to do the 5k, we are doing a glow run 5k next month so that will prob help decide)Marathon weekend the Friday after coming back from Winter break and Avengers I'm assuming also the Friday mainly all for packet pickup. Is it wrong to think of pulling a child out of school for a Disney trip?

Good luck and safe travels.

Well okay, the section was pretty ransacked, although lots of six and four packs had one or two cans torn off. :sad2:

I figured what you meant. Still, it is sad to see families separated, even when they are beer can families.

Happy Birthday to your Dad!

Thanks.

Hey Philip. We don't take our dds out of school. But, it not because I think it is bad, but because I don't want to deal with the hassle from the school. Besides, one or two days isn't anything. While there is no chance of me running, I will be there this October along with several other DisDads who are will be.

Hey Norm! , I def wouldn't take DD out for more the a day here there, kindof stinks that they are right around her fall and Winter breaks.I figured a day over a few months. I know it would take a miracle to get you to run so I won't waste the training time lol, looks like James and Matt are registered.so y'all are going to be there that weekend?I'm pretty close to swayed, the ToT 10 miler is the one I've been thinking about doing so I may register today.

Back before Christmas, FIL announced he wanted to pay and take his family - kids, spouses, grand kids - on vacation in Summer 2015. He asked my DW and her brother (my infamous BIL) to pick a vacation destination. We suggested Disney, Universal/Sea World, or Beach/Cruise. SIL pouted and didn't want any of those places because DW suggested them. Oh yeah, the dysfunction runs deep.

So, my FIL calls yesterday and just says we are all going to WDW and asks me to get some prices. Immediately, SIL has decided her youngest child (infant) won't be going on vacation with everyone because he would be too young to enjoy it. So, we'll see whether or not the manipulation tactic will work.

BIL is a family of 6 (with infant), so I thought about AoA, POR, or a GV. Then, I thought about each family having their own cabin at Fort Wilderness, as each sleeps 6. I'll discuss some options with FIL, but the prices are all fairly close together.

Yes, we arrive that Sat, October 4. We are booked at the BWV.

Morning Dads. Last day of work before my weekend. and its my turn to pick what we eat out tomorrow.... decisions decisions...

Thank you very much if you are so inclined you can vote once a day but I wont heckle you about that.

Morning Guys! Taxes done.:woohoo: Getting almost double back than I thought.:woohoo::woohoo: Adjusted the % last year, but some other things changed and it looks like I didn't adjust for that. Looks like I have some extra vacation money now.:thumbsup2

We did ours on the 3rd. We are getting WAY more than we had expcted. We knew DS would be good for us and taxes but we did not know how good. I think we are getting close to double what I expected.

We have arrived! Have a good weekend guys.

I wish we could stay there... BLT is at the top of my resort wish list.

Afternoon Guys,

DS's basketball season has come to an end. They lost both games today unfortunately. They had their chances in both games but one bad quarter or one great quarter by the opponents dine them in both times. Good and bad for DS today; he was player of the game for his team in the first game but rolled his ankle with about 2 minutes left in the second game. I have to give him credit, he tried to wave off the sub but the coach decided he did his share today and took him out. Probably a good thing as he had a bit of trouble walking after.

Take care of that ankle I rolled mine playing volleyball and it has bothered me off and on since.

Even after I voted for you? :faint:

Double secret probation. Is she keeping a secret from you?

I do fortunatly know and we are pretty excited I can say that it's sadly not BLT like I would love to do. It would be awesome to stay at a monarail resort. Sadly that is not happening this time. So that narrows it down on what it could be.

Ill def let you know but we will likely see y'all there, have y'all ever used Disneys in room baby sitting service? I may need to use it, unless I can talk a fellow DisDad and his family into spending a few hours with her while I do the race lol. My parents are really looking into retirement and told me they are starting to look into buying a home in either Orlando or Destin, I guess it's obvious which way I've hinted but either would be nice for them and I'm so happy they are starting to think about stuff like that.

Those type of people tick me off you don't go for the child to remember it.... you go because you can take pictures and the child will still be interested in what's goint on. Also you will remember it.

Moving on....

I walked around AoA when we were staying at Pop It was a really nice resort.... a really big one too alot of walking from one side to the other. The food court was really nice though. You would also be a short walk from Pop and some Tye Dye Cheesecake.:wave2:

This sometimes is a touchy subject here on the DisBoards. But in my opinion, elementary school-aged children should not pose any problems with pulling out of school a few days for a trip to The World. Once they get in middle school/junior high, it becomes a lot more difficult to make up the work.

Maybe get BIL and SIL a cabin and the rest of the family can stay at PO.

:lmao:

Good luck!

Thank you for your thoughts, as for the Friday before fall break, if its anything like last years, then that Friday will be just a party day so it shouldn't be a biggie.

Hey dads. Checked the list but I'll ask here- any dads in the World for spring break on March 29?

Thanks, no swelling today but he is a bit stiff. He'll be skipping Futsol today to give it some more rest.

Alright registered for 2014 ToT 10 miler! Now to look into renting points and possibly staying at boardwalk, sadly I am no longer a DVC member so gotta go back to renting. How has everyone been? I've missed being on the boards hopefully I can be on more often. Is the DDCC the cruise next time? Or is there another Marathon weekend convention?
