Morning Guys.... last day of work for me watching the hockey game. So far pretty good.

Good morning!

More snow on the way in Central Indiana.

I guess I'm ok with it. It has warmed up some from the sub zero temps we've been seeing, so I'm kind of enjoying it now that we can actually get outside some.

Took the kids sledding last night and I used one of the sleds to test my snowboarding skills. I'm seriously getting some stupid ideas after watching the Olympics. It could have ended up much worse than it did. I managed to ride the sled well enough that I'm really seriously thinking I need to get a real snowboard now. :rolleyes1

Yeah if you are risking breaking yourself you might as well do it on proiper equipment.

Morning....help get DW and the kids off they are heading to Sarnia for the long weekend, I'm working tonight though. :confused3 Will make for a relaxing weekend though (and quiet)

We thankfully missed any major snow yesterday, although its chilly again. I prefer the roads being cleared when travelling is involved.

Jim, I hope you can get out on vacation without a hitch, praying for no delays. Enjoy!

I haven't watched any of the NBC coverage; I usually do to see what they are not saying. I have been answering their tweets though. When they tweet the XXXX event is coming up, I respond with "Do you want to know what happened?"

:rotfl2::thumbsup2

Good hockey game so far.

That net post really cost the Russians...

I recorded the womens curling Friday night and am watching it back now.
The girl from Denmark just dropped the F-bomb. It was hilarious, apparently it is the same in any language. The announcer was silent for a second then said "was that a bad word" before they cut off her mike. I replayed it 5-6 time and laughed harder each time.

Happy Saturday fellas! I haven't had a whole lot of time for the boards since I started my new job at the beginning of the year. I've been putting in about 15 extra hours per week. That raise I got wasn't enough to cover that much extra time if you consider it on a per hour basis (that will be a discussion during my first review). My new boss really likes the job I'm doing so far and has already indicated that I would be a natural for his position when/if he moves up. It has been a lot to take on but I am not bored anymore and am learning a lot. All the extra hard work is going to make those vacations that much more welcomed. Speaking of vacation, we have decided our next trip to WDW will be Oct 3 or 4 - 11th. Still working out details but happy to get something on the calendar. I am strongly considering do the Tower of Terror 10 miler on 10/4. WDW Marathon Weekend also has not been ruled out yet but that is still in negotiations.

Hope all are doing well, prayers for those in need and praise for those celebrating the wins. Most of my interactions have been on FB lately but I will try to check in more often.

Great hockey game today - thank the maker for the "moved" goal. Get both the USA and Canada tomorrow. Have a good weekend guys!

Congrats on the trip and glad to hear the new gig is going well despite the extra hours.

Good to hear about the job going well and the fall trip coming together. Fall is still a time of the year when we would like to get there but it is tough.

Good to hear from you. Congrats on the good work :thumbsup2

So proud of my girls today. They won 18-16, with only five players on there. The other team had 8 players and a lot more height. Both scored 6 points each and really played well together - the best all this snow filled season. My youngest dd is over 2 years younger than my oldest, but she is almost the same height and has a chance to be a terrific player. She locked down the other team's best player, while my oldest rotated to help defend the rest of the their team.

Hahaha bummer I missed that I have been watching a lot of curling.

Ice cream for all!

So, I sit at a crossroad in my life. The wife and I have some decisions to make about the future of our family. My current enlistment is over in September, and we are looking at our options. I could reenlist again and transfer to a new duty station, or I could get out of the military after 7 1/2 years of honorable service and enter the job market. Being a man that likes to explore all of his options, I submitted for reenlistment (no obligation until I sign on the dotted line) and I have also just completed an application for a job opening at Disney as a secretary. Not the most glamorous job, but it's pretty much what I have done for the past 7 years, and reading the qualifications on the job posting, I am highly qualified. I have no idea what the starting salary would be, is that something I should ask about if they call, or is that taboo? I would need to make sure that the compensation is at least close to what I make now so that we won't have issues during our transition. I'm really excited and I hope that this blossoms into a golden opportunity.

Norm, congrats to the girls.

First off thank you for your service.
If you get a call from Disney (or more likely an email) it is perfectly ok to ask what the starting pay range is. Generally a company that size has a very structured pay scale so they should be able to tell you what the entry pay is even though you may qualify for a little more based on experience.
Also Disney promotes from within alot, you can move up quickly. Either the guy who just retired or the guy who just got promoted to park president started as a bell hop at the Disneyland Hotel.
Besides having a Dad on the inside can only be good for us.
I hope it works out for you and your family.
