I've heard from my sister. As I suspected she was in the animal science building which is as far as she could possibly be across campus from where the shooting took place. She said they have ended the lockdown with the exception of the Electrical Engineering building, which is where the shooting took place.
Glad to hear she's OK!

I've heard from my sister. As I suspected she was in the animal science building which is as far as she could possibly be across campus from where the shooting took place. She said they have ended the lockdown with the exception of the Electrical Engineering building, which is where the shooting took place.

There have been a lot of rumors that I've seen and she's seen about how many shooters there were and how many were shot. She has a friend who is in that building that has texted her and said the only victim was a TA who was shot 3 times, but there is a rumor that a student was shot too... I've heard nothing as to whether there have been any fatalities or how severe it was.

Thanks to social media being rampant, I saw a grainy picture of what appears to be a guy wearing a hoody carrying an assault rifle by his side in front of a building near where the shooting took place. I don't know how authentic it is or anything, but he'd have had to walk far enough from where that picture was taken to the EE building that I don't see how he'd get that far carrying a weapon like that in plain sight. :confused3

Either way, thanks for the concern guys, and prayers to those who were shot and those who were/are locked in the EE building while this all gets sorted out.

Good to hear that your sis was not in any danger.
Sorry to hear that anyone else was.
Unfortunate. Very unfortunate.

Good afternoon guys, took a while to get caught up after weekend road trip wit DS to Chicago - great weekend especially with the Hawks beating both Anaheim and Boston. If I missed something congrats, prayers and all those getting hit by the cold temps / storm stay safe.

Last day, last 2:00 am wake up call. This is the big one. For her 26.2 miles, for me the hours of waiting.
A lot of hardware

From there we went back to the room for a bit and over to the Yacht/Beach Club to cheer on the runners and the same at the back of the Boardwalk. Finally back to the room to nap and then get ready for the celebration dinner. California Grill. Yes!
Congrats to the pirate princess and thanks a ton for sharing the pics and reports - great stuff
With too much time to wait for the April Spring Break vacation and some news, thought I would make some changes. I booked a 5:50 PM Beaches n Cream ADR as well as changing park days from DHS to Epcot. I was surprised that I was able to get an 8:20 AM ADR at Akershus. So, the new plan is:

Sunday - Arrive @ BCV & 8:45 AM ADR @ Cape May
Monday - 5:50 PM ADR @ Beaches n Cream
Tuesday - Epcot 8:20 AM @ Akershus & 4:30 PM @ Via Napoli
Wednesday - Welcome Home Wednesday followed by ESPN Club
Thursday - 5:40 PM @ Captain's Grille
Friday - Departure

It's only going to be a one park day trip this time. Since we are trying BCV for the first and maybe only time, we figured we would enjoy Stormalong Bay and the rest of the resort. We are also just a short walk away from the Boardwalk, where we can enjoy the evening entertainment.
Good schedule and you will like stormalong bay. We have stayed there once and will be again this July - just finished our ADRs for July this morning. Will post our March & July scheds when I can
DS and his team-mates came through with a great performance this afternoon and dominated in a 68-24 win to finish of the tournament. Declan had one of his better games with 12 points and 5 rebounds.

Nice confidence booster to finish off the weekend.
Congrats :cool1:
Good Monday Morning Dad's,

It was a busy weekend with sports, kids and professional.

On Friday night, DD's hoops team won 25-7 over a good team. We played really good defense and DD had 8 points and a ton of rebounds to lead us in scoring.

On Saturday, DS and his teammates took game 1 of the weekend on a running 3 pointer by a teammate at the buzzer in OT to win the game. Really good game of back and forth for the entire time.

On Sunday, DS's team had to play a team in a division higher than us. OUr weaker players really struggled, making it a hard game to compete in, but we played well overall and ended up losing by 2. DS was the game high scoring with 18 points (5-3's), 8 assists and grabbed 7 rebounds. By far his best game of the season. It was great to see him step up to the higher competition.
Congrats and ya missed a heck of a game between the Bruins and Hawks Sunday.
Just saw that there was a shooting on Purdue's campus. Sounds like a TA was shot and the suspect is in custody.

Haven't heard from my sister yet and she's on campus, but shouldn't have been anywhere near the building where the shooting took place.
Good to her your sister is safe and prayers to all who have been affected by yet another senseless act.

I've been watching Walking Dead first three seasons on Netflix over these cold days off from school. I still don't understand how the zombies are dumb enough some time not to even extend their foot to walk, but then other times, are breaking glass doors with rocks.

I read somewhere that as the seasons go on the zombies actually get slower and less vicious. Only when they are in a group and sense a meal is near do they get really crazy.
Can't wait for the second half of this season to start!!
Not sure if you have been watching The Following, but it has been awesome so far and the season just started again this week and did not disappoint. Definitely recommend this show!

We have been watching Breaking Bad from the beginning and are have way through season 2. So far we are really enjoying it.

Snow canceled class at SH today. The kid is out playing in it.

If it was today, the winner would be the one that could walk faster.:lmao::lmao: I have an appointment with a new knee guy on Thursday for a second opinion. I am still not able to run correctly from the Dec. 2011 surgery.:mad: It may just be that I need to work through it, but there is still some swelling when I try. I mean immediately swells and feels weird. No pain, just weird. The other surgeon just keeps telling me to ice and then start again when it feels better.:headache: Every time I try to get him to do anything, he just kind of shrugs it off.

Same with my doctor. Nothing to do except stretch and exercise.

I've been curious about that show. The one promo they keep showing on the subway looks pretty creepy. But first I have to get up to speed on Sherlock. I start season 1 on that tonight.

Greetings again, fellow dads... been a while since I checked in. (Not as long as TL though)
Got an upcoming-trip question for y'all... which reminds me, I need to change my ticker to something more positive. :thumbsup2
I've customized our Magic Bands, which MDE tells me needs to be done by Jan 30th. Actually, that's been done for about 2 weeks. Question is, are they going to wait until Jan 30th to ship them, or do I have to click a button or something?
I'm not in a rush or anything, but I don't want them to not send them if they're waiting on me to do something.
Thanks.

Notes from catching up....
Late congrats to the pirate: princess: , and the rest of the runners.
I wish DS's school schedule allowed for us to convene with the rest of you, but at least some of y'all were posting pics ;)
Scary news today... what's getting into people nowadays?
USAFdad... best of luck to you. I work with a bunch of Navy folk, and things ain't much better on the water.
And you Yankees take care in the storm du jour.

Good stuff. And it gets even better. Seasons 3 and 4 are some of the best TV I've ever watched.

But first I have to get up to speed on Sherlock. I start season 1 on that tonight.

:thumbsup2 You won't regret it!

Prayers for those in need; Praise for those deserving; Disney & Bacon for All!

I started to watch the 1st Sherlock today on Netflix and after 1:02 minutes, I was hooked.

...I would prefer quality over quantity at WDW...

Quantity any day and the more calories for the least amount of money. It is just fuel to keep me alive.

Snow. Wind. Schools cancelled and day home from work...I have a nemesis yet no inclination to run. Go Team Sparrow.

About 4 inches of snow, cold, public schools cancelled but not homeschool, and had to drive to the big city for a meeting. Days like today I wish I was hourly.

Doesn't look like it will warm up anytime soon. The kids here won't be back until sometime next week when it gets above freezing long enough to melt the snow.

No nemesis and no inclination to run accept maybe away.

Go Team Sparrow! :cheer2:

Looks like it's coming our way instead. I figure my wife won't go into labor until we're in the middle of it.:thumbsup2

Can't imagine that chaos. Ours were induced.

...Morning Darcy.:wave2: If you wouldn't mind taking the cold weather back it would be appreciated by us down here.:rolleyes1 I was enjoying the 40 degree January. This global warming concept is starting to grow on me. It needs to be accelerated...

Any more of this global warming and I'm investing in some Pac Boots.

...I spent a couple hours at a car dealership yesterday. That was fun.:sad2:
:crazy2:

Good morning guys! Looks like its going to be a cold and snowy week for some of us. Headed home after a 1230 meeting to make sure I get off of the roads before the craziness starts to happen on the highways. Tomorrow will likely be a snow day. This area practically shuts down with a little dusting! But, I'll be heading to WDW this weekend and hoping for warmer weather.

:cool1: Safe travels!

I've heard from my sister....

Glad she is OK.

Craziness is getting worse everyday it seems.

Glad you had a great trip

She just turned 20, give her another 20 years of it and she will dislike it as much as the rest of us.

Greetings again, fellow dads... been a while since I checked in. (Not as long as TL though)

Nope there is nothing you need to after you customize your Magic Bands. On day 29, go into your MDE account and you should see a message that your bands have been shipped and it should give you a tracking number. I believe most are shipped UPS Overnight. So depending, by the time you actually get around to logging into MDE, your Magic Bands may already be at your doorstep. I tell you, seeing that had to be the most exciting part of the pre-trip experience thus far.

Just getting caught up...

CJ great pics, and nice mini TR. Happy Birthday to Pirate Princess.

Andy, glad to hear your sister was safe in the shooting... what's going on in the world today?? Prayers for all involved...

Yesterday was DW's birthday. Oh, and we also booked a cruise on the Oasis of the Seas for October. For my birthday she gives me a hug and a tie... :sad2:

Whew! I've been just keeping up with things by skimming through at night before bed. Prayers to those in need. We got ~20" of lake effect snow between midnight last night and noon today. Luckily it was light and fluffy so the snowblower ate it up with ease. The drive to work this morning was a bit hairy with visibility through the blizzard left it difficult to see the car in front of me. Now the temps are dropping. I'm about done with winter....

Stay warm guys!

Thanks for the comments on the recap. I do it for us to have a history of what happened on our trips.

You can always load Mel and the kids on the plane on Sunday and fly out Monday. You may get shived when you return home on Monday but you could do it. DD talked to the doc when she might have flown out the night after the full. His suggestion was to keep hydrated and wear compression socks and she would be fine. Not sure if that would be OK with an old guy like you.
:rotfl2::rotfl2:

You really want to see me taken out, don't you?

I don't even have a nemesis let alone an inclination to run :rotfl2:
LOL… Time to find a nemesis. pirate:

Looks like it's coming our way instead. I figure my wife won't go into labor until we're in the middle of it.:thumbsup2
Hope you made it to the hospital in time. :rolleyes2

We are looking at 6-12 in the forecast and really cold again. The forecast shows the worst part of the storm south of us, but we seem to be in the right place at the wrong time this year so we are planning for the higher totals. Stay safe dads!
I think we have about 6 inches but it looks like it is winding down for us (11pm) If it snowed as long as they said, we would be hitting 12''+

:rotfl2::rotfl2: When I bought my house, they tried to tell me I was in a flood zone because we have a small brook 300 yards away and about 30 feet below where my house sits. I eventually won the argument, but if my house floods, eastern Massachusetts will be wiped out.:confused3
:lmao:

If you flood give me a call, I'll come pick you up on my boat. :sail:
