Over the years, it seems that my minivan has received something of a cult following around here. There were rumors of it being fueled by everything from a Mr. Fusion to a custom methane gas-powered rocket engine. There have been claims that it's acceleration rivaled that of attack aircraft launching off the deck of the USS Carl Vinson. I even recall reading that someone's cousin's best friend's post man heard from his daughter's pre-school teacher that it had supersonic abilities and set several land speed records. The wildest one, of course, was that it was not of materials found on this planet.

Well, I will neither confirm nor deny any of those rumors. I will however, tell you that it's mothership came last week, beckoning it home. At DW's insistence, It has been replaced with a Toyota Highlander.

Now, where'd I put my tools and those old blueprints....
I started hearing 'Taps' after I read the first sentence. :lmao:

Slip-Slop-Slap is the iconic and internationally recognised sun protection campaign prominent in Australia during the 1980s. Launched by Cancer Council Victoria in 1981,[1] the Slip! Slop! Slap! campaign features a singing, dancing Sid Seagull encouraging people to reduce sun exposure and protect themselves against an increased risk of skin cancer.[2] Sid had Australians slipping on long sleeved clothing, slopping on sunscreen and slapping on a hat. This successful program was funded by public donations.

Rather silly, but it was meant to address a serious issue. Skin cancer is becoming more common amongst those of us that remembered playing outside when we were young. The youth of today will probably have to deal with carpal tunnel, gamer's thumb, and hemorrhoids.

I don't have to worry about this with DS as he doesn't want to go outside (if he didn't look like me, SWMBO would have some explaining to do), but DD loves being outside so she has already been told to use common sense and not get sunburned excessively.
Thanks for the lesson. Can't understand why that is relevant in any curriculum.

:Edit: I guess it might be relevant in Australia.

You must be Australian. :lmao:

Luckily I was able to outrace the storm and arrived in Miami around noon. On the way up I drove 1,300 miles without stoping except for short cat naps in the car. On the way back it was around 1,000 miles before I stopped in Daytona. The Holiday Inn had a convention of Terminix people and it was the start of Bike Week. Interesting night at the bar. A gathering of paunchy, middle aged, white guys, half in green polo shirts and kaki pants, the other half in leather jackets. Interesting and very different conversations.

The kid flies home late Thursday and I am trying to set up an appointment with a specialist for Friday. They are sure her issues are neurological in nature and one of the tests will be a spinal tap. Tough week and I am beat. Decided to make meatloaf and roasted potatoes for dinner tonight. Probably only the second home cooked meal I had in three weeks.
Glad you made it back safely. Hope they get to the bottom of it…. sending prayers.

Ditto!

I need my old man smiley but can't find it now. You start to misplace things when you get older so I shouldn't be surprised.

At your age, it is difficult to remember things. :lmao:

Silly me. Congrats on the new set op wheels.:drive:

Speaking of new things, an avatar switch to pumba? What is it really that much rum?

Continued prayers for Andrianna. When DW was pregnant with youngest dd, she had a spinal tap (dx was meningitis). That was scary.

Barry uses those IT skills to easily stalk you.

Well today made for an interesting day. An elderly woman either forgot which was the brakes and which is the gas or which way reverse and forward are, but the bottom line was she drove into the wall of the store. Didn't go right through, but did some structural damage to the wall and windows etc. No one was hurt but one staff member was really lucky not to get hit. Only stock lost was some delisted stock on the counter to be marked down. There are pics on my FB page if anyone wants to see the damage.

I blanked out and went back to see what this was about. I must have missed it. This is scary, I'm really hoping and praying that they get to the bottom of this quick

Glad you made it. Sounds like some scary stuff to have to figure out. I hope they get her taken care of quickly.

Continued prayers and positive thoughts that this gets resolved / fixed ASAP. Please pass on our well wishes to the Pirate Princess.

So true

My wife started her new job this week working the night shift. It means we don't get to see each other much in the evenings but ESPN is back on my TV.

Happy Wednesday guys! For Lent I was going to give up being awesome, but I'm a DISDad, it goes with the title ;)

Morning guys.

Quick mid week vacation check in. Looks like we are heading for the dark side today and DS and his uncle have decided that we are headed to Islands of Adventure. Should be fun.

Hope you are all doing ok, avoiding the snow and keeping warm. Thoughts and prayers to those who need them and congrats to all for making in to March Madness.

My Spidey Sense started tingling. I knew immediately that either someone was in grave danger and needed my help, or that Tim said something stupid on the Internet. :thumbsup2

Why is "repairs" in quotes? The cooling lines were broke, then they were fixed. Nothing to see here, move along folks.

Ummmmm….. where is everyone? :confused3
Trying to put the house back together after DW went on her semiannual cooking binge making prepackaged meals for lunch. Sunday afternoon I started getting the chills. I still went into work figuring a double dose of dayquill would hold me. I got on the Early Out list anyways. About half way through the night full blown flu symptoms kick in. I worked an extra 5 minutes even though I was second on the list. I had the chills before I walked outside. The 100 yard walk to my vehicle in -25 degrees plus a wind had my teeth chattering for over two hours after I got home. When I got home DW tells me the water heater went out. I had to deal with the plumber while trying not to collapse from the hot flashes and chills. Then Tuesday morning I was greeted to a honey do list a mile long and a kitchen full of dishes and two kids who took a double dose of their Calliou pills. Needless to say I have not been a happy camper the last 72 hours.

CJ, I hope Crash gets well soon. Truly scary thing to deal with.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Thanks for letting me vent.

They keep changing things here at work and it is therefore creating more actual work, resulting in less Dis time. :badpc:
Well that stinks. I'm just happy to be out of February. I had 1, yes 1, DJ job that was a 3 hour school dance. I can't wait for May & June to roll around. I'm tired of eating Ramen.

Actually off today, so naturally snuck a nap in while the house was quiet.
Wow. Congratulations! :thumbsup2

Man, you've had 1 he77 of a week. Hope you are feeling better. I think the worst part of your story was the Calliou part. DD used to watch that when she was young then started getting fresh. I CANNOT stand that show! :badpc:
