Welcome to the club Jeremy! Have the dues and initiation been explained yet?

Are you stalking me? We vacation the same week, kids near the same age, anniversary the same month....

Mine is the 16th (7 years this year)

No, I don't think so.:rolleyes1

I've been married longer so the real question is..........Are you stalking me?:rotfl2::rotfl2: Should make for a fun meet up.

Yes, he has been in French Immersion since grade 1. All of his classes except language arts are in French.

You've been immersing him in French. There must be a law against that somewhere.

Maybe Declan can teach my DS something. He has been taking French all year in middle school and recently proclaimed.......all we do is eat.:headache:

Milestone Alert:

Garreth graduates from Pre-K today (Really? I mean, Really? Graduates with a cap and gown?:confused3) and Momma is not taking it well:sad1:;):lmao:
Grandparents coming in, the whole shebang.

I, of course, am the bad guy because I'm working today (and I'm teaching an Explosives Threats class, which means I get to blow some stuff up--which is awesome and I'm, understandably jazzed about it)...

I took off tomorrow for their little field day, then we're headed to Charleston for some spoiling by my mom (him, not me) and some fishing up at Lake Moultrie (me and him), pool and cookout included.

Monday I'm presenting at a Flag Ceremony at the National Cemetary.

Hope you guys have a great Holiday Weekend. Don't forget why we have the day off:thumbsup2

Time to head out for another Disney day!

Have fun CJ.

Hey Guys! Glad I finally joined ya on the boards. Been having fun on our trips to WDW with my DW and 3 kids. Already helped a few friends plan during spring break and Easter. Love sharing the magic with everyone and of course gets tagged as the Disney nut.
My name is Jeremy and we live 1000 miles north of WDW! We love going down during MNSSHP since its my wife's favorite holiday and offseason. However this year is our 10 yr anniversary and we are cruising in the Bahamas instead of Disney..... I hope Mickey will forgive us. :rotfl2:
Next year I have a conference in Feb for my work and then in June my DD has a dance team parade down Main St USA! So two trips for 2014!!! :cool1::cool1:
Looking forward to getting to know everyone on DIS Dads
Happy planning our next trips!!!!
Jeremy

As long as it's bacon, I don't see the problem. :lmao:

Flights have been booked for the 13th anniversary trip. I've been watching Southwest's prices like crazy for the past 2 or 3 months, waiting for them to dip low enough that I could use frequent flyer points for them. Finally this morning they came low enough. :woohoo: August 3-10.

Persistence pays off

When in October is your anniversary? Our is the 26th.

Welcome sir!

Grab you a frosty beverage out of the fridge, drag a lawn chair on over here by the grill, kick a few of the empty beer cans out of the way and join in on the conversation. We’re glad to have you here.

Space Camp in Quebec.

Ahhh…
Now I remember seeing some discussion on space Camp, but I missed the beginning of the subject. He should have a grand time with that. Wish I was going.

Yes, he has been in French Immersion since grade 1. All of his classes except language arts are in French.

That will serve him well. I wish my public schools were a bit more diligent about second and even third languages. That’s one ability that absolutely translates into extra dollars professionally. They send all the kids through at least one of two or three languages starting in middle school, but it’s not even a fraction as rigorous as what y’all are doing.

I took 4 years of French in high school. My teacher was a genius who spoke a dozen languages, and would break out in Russian to curse at us with our wonderful KY accents. I retained nothing.

If something important got said…
It’ll likely get re-said at some point..

ARe we old enough to the point we are already re-telling our old stories?

Welcome. Dues are payable in Dole Whips, bacon, beer or cake. Just send them to me and I will distribute. We do a MNSSHP each year as well and that is my DW's favorite holiday as well.

Welcome! Randall will be along to give you your number. Dues payable in bacon, Dole Whips, and whatever else are usually sent via Norm's mailbox. What happens to them when they get their we have never figured out.

I have a simple formula. First, Stitch and I get our cut of the dues that are mailed. Then, I take the remainder, divide by the number of current Disdads, and then mail those portions to everyone.

French Immersion is big here but not so much for English Immersion. With our Province being officially bilingual it is a big help. Both DW and I took French Immersion although I stopped after grade 6 for some stupid reason. At the time I was in the only class in the city and we had moved to a different neighbourhood. The school I was attending has no sport programs or a gym. I seemed to think that sports were important and it was time for my parents to move me to another school. I still took a French class each year but I don't think I learned anything new in French after grade 6.

DW stuck it out in her class, minored in French at university and now is a French Immersion math teacher.

We still speak mostly English at home but it is possible for DS to have a French conversation at home; something that was impossible for me growing up

We usually come up with 2 plans for each vacation. It always includes booking our home resort (Saratoga Springs) at 11 months out, so we always have that to fall back on. Then at 7 months, I call and switch that reservation to the resort we really wanted to stay at for that vacation. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I get wait-listed. We don't go a peak time (Christmas, Easter, etc) so I think every one of our waitlists have come through.

I forget where I heard the quote, but an old couple was talking about how they stayed married for so long. It was because neither of them wanted to get divorced at the same time.

I'll pencil that in and see what we can do. :thumbsup2

CJ - you're at Animal Kingdom. The entire outside is a bathroom. Umm...I've heard. :rolleyes1

^^That Word and this word vv

Belong no where near each other. At least until someone actually invents a sarcasm font.

That always reminds me of the line from Field of Dreams:
"Ty Cobb wanted to play. But none of us could stand the son of a $*#%@ when we were alive so we told him to stick it!"

Holy crap! Who's shooting at you?!?

Care to tell us exactly how "special" these brownies are? :hippie:

Wish I could, but we sold them all!

Care to explain that to my wife?:lmao::lmao: As stated and normal procedure, she doesn't listen to me. It looks like we'll be waiting still and as said after the kids are in college and we get an idea of what $$ will be available. Of course at that point it will be a way to convince the kids to spend some time with us.

Hey Brent. Yup. I have someone here that has been on strike for years.:confused3 Glad the strike never happened. Now they are all just comfortable that their jobs are safe and back to normal. Good like convincing them otherwise.

When in October is your anniversary? Our is the 26th.

You live in the wrong neighborhood. We bought our house in 2002 and it is worth 30-35% more than we paid then. Pretty good. I still want to buy some DVC resale good investment or not, but the queen forbids it at this point. Still working on convincing her though. The right time to buy was about 5 years ago. We have been 8 times since and it certainly would be well on it's way to paying for itself by now.

My niece did space camp a few years ago. Loved every minute of it. Good luck to DS, he'll have a blast (pun intended).

I guess I didn't tell you the entire story. paid $40k for the first house, sold it for $80 and paid $95k for this one in 1990. jumped up to $190k in value and has slid back to about $160k. its starting to come around again.
when be bought into dvc, a night at the cbr is what a point cost. so it may have seem cheap into todays standards but in 1999.
we have been very, very lucky. we both always had good jobs, live in a 1600 sq ft home, plenty for three people and never spent over our heads. stuck a lot of our money away.
the only place or thing we really did was go to Disney. which, in our old age, :lmao: with our investments and living the way we did for thirty years, we have some money stuck away. dvc was just another tool to save money on our trips. ok, people will argue, its not the cheapest way to go. no, it isn't. heck, I could sleep in a mini van in a rest stop on i4 and eat Cheetos for a week and just pay for park tickets if I really wanted cheep.:rotfl2: but the point of dvc is for the most part the points stay the same. they can add a point here or there but they have to take away from here or there. so, the one bedroom at okw in 1999 on December 1st is the same as it is dec 1st, 2039. round numbers, I paid $60 per point, today, you pay $140. ten years from now, $200,$250. your point is still worth $140.

Welcome to the club! That is cool that you get to go twice next year - and it sounds like one is free to you. :thumbsup2 <--thumb. No, really... it's a THUMB!
:)

Has anyone else worn these?

Best Park Shirts I have used

The Omni-Freeze shirts from Columbia...I thought it was a gimmick at first, but I picked up the shirt for golfing about a month ago and purchased two more on the way home. They are now going to be my go to Park shirts at Disney this June.

I love shirts like that, but they don't look so great on someone with my measurements (to put it nicely.) :rotfl2:

I probably would have done better to take Spanish as we have migrant workers in my communities here from Mexico and other countries.

I was really happy getting that Boardwalk contract for $67 a point. I need to go see what we paid for the BLT points, but I think it was $120 per point. The DVC contracts, direct thru Disney, are just ridiculous. The VGF are $145 a point for DVC members, but I think they will go up to $160 per point for non-members in June. That is crazy.
