Grandparents coming in, the whole shebang.

I, of course, am the bad guy because I'm working today (and I'm teaching an Explosives Threats class, which means I get to blow some stuff up--which is awesome and I'm, understandably jazzed about it)...

I took off tomorrow for their little field day, then we're headed to Charleston for some spoiling by my mom (him, not me) and some fishing up at Lake Moultrie (me and him), pool and cookout included.

Monday I'm presenting at a Flag Ceremony at the National Cemetary.

Hope you guys have a great Holiday Weekend. Don't forget why we have the day off:thumbsup2

Congrats to the little guy, and good luck to mom. :thumbsup2
Have fun blowing stuff up. Post video when you get back.

We were headed to the MK last night but decided to get take out at Mara and stay home and watch the game. Blasphemy I know but I am glad we did. Had a great time. Not just because it was an enjoyable game and the Heat won but we just sat on the couch talking about things. Best father/daughter face time since before she went to school last fall.
Sounds like excellent use of vacation time.

Flights have been booked for the 13th anniversary trip. I've been watching Southwest's prices like crazy for the past 2 or 3 months, waiting for them to dip low enough that I could use frequent flyer points for them. Finally this morning they came low enough. :woohoo: August 3-10.

Has anyone else worn these?

Best Park Shirts I have used

The Omni-Freeze shirts from Columbia...I thought it was a gimmick at first, but I picked up the shirt for golfing about a month ago and purchased two more on the way home. They are now going to be my go to Park shirts at Disney this June.

Meetings - "None of us is as dumb as all of us"

...That always reminds me of the line from Field of Dreams:
"Ty Cobb wanted to play. But none of us could stand the son of a $*#%@ when we were alive so we told him to stick it!"

Not one of my favorite movies, but we visited The Field when we lived in Iowa. Interesting trip.

Holy crap! Who's shooting at you?!?

Lots of people would like to, but this was left over from the days pre-Daniel Boone. My research plots are at the union of two major rivers so it would have made a good camping spot.

...Fully expecting to get yelled at for the usual stuff ...

Sounds like a typical day at home for me. :lmao:

I agree with the prevailing DVC argument. We bought in knowing it wasn't a good financial investment, but it was a great investment in our vacation time. We're happy with the purchase so far.

Care to explain that to my wife?:lmao::lmao: As stated and normal procedure, she doesn't listen to me. It looks like we'll be waiting still and as said after the kids are in college and we get an idea of what $$ will be available. Of course at that point it will be a way to convince the kids to spend some time with us.

Evening guys.... Been busy today, helped dad unload a truck of stuff, and of course, the usual fun here at work. We didn't go on strike, but a couple of workers here sure have me fooled.

Anniversary wise, I'll be 13 years in October.

CJ, pics looked good, I need to go on my laptop when I get home and have a better look.

I approve of this statement.

Hey Brent. Yup. I have someone here that has been on strike for years.:confused3 Glad the strike never happened. Now they are all just comfortable that their jobs are safe and back to normal. Good like convincing them otherwise.

When in October is your anniversary? Our is the 26th.

I always laugh at the dvc threads how people fight over the word investment. "its an investment, its not an investment"
my dvc tripled in value over the last 13 years and my house is worth 20k less then it was 13 years ago.:lmao:
I think I should sell my house and buy $170,000 worth of dvc points. :lmao:

You live in the wrong neighborhood. We bought our house in 2002 and it is worth 30-35% more than we paid then. Pretty good. I still want to buy some DVC resale good investment or not, but the queen forbids it at this point. Still working on convincing her though. The right time to buy was about 5 years ago. We have been 8 times since and it certainly would be well on it's way to paying for itself by now.

Evening guys.

Got DS home from soccer and off to bed. He leaves for space camp in the morning ad we get 4 days child free.

Going back and forth between Kingdom of Heaven and the Pitt/Ottawa game. Go Pens!

My niece did space camp a few years ago. Loved every minute of it. Good luck to DS, he'll have a blast (pun intended).

Good Morning gentlemen!

By the way....Florida is "hotter then sin" right now (I just had my AC serviced in preparation) is what looks like one of the hotter summers. If you fellas are headed to Disney in the next few months...

be-prepared-the-lion-king-a-s.gif

BE PREPARED!

Bring it on! This will be our first August trip as a family. I have been as a kid and then to FL several times. Family says they love the heat no problem.

CJ - you're at Animal Kingdom. The entire outside is a bathroom. Umm...I've heard. :rolleyes1

Care to tell us exactly how "special" these brownies are? :hippie:

Interesting. May need to try one of those for golf.

We are set for our food/bake sale:

75 Chick Fil A sandwiches donated
Chips
Hot dogs
2 dozen lemon cookies
2 dozen chocolate chip bars
4 dozen brownies
4 dozen specialty brownies
3 dozen regular chocolate chip cookies
35 cupcakes

And enough pop to put an entire city into diabetic coma :thumbsup2

Sounds great! Especially as I sit here looking at my re-heated leftovers.

Moving day tomorrow. Stapler still packed safely away. Not getting any work done with everything boxed up. Maybe I need to go to some meetings.

We've done a day care graduation (cake only) and just did a 5th grade graduation that was 2 hours long. All I kept thinking was congratulations, your kid is moving to another school. Lots of tears and overcelebrating by some parents. Oh well, good luck challenging the so called educational system.

Teenage years, been the last 2 or 3 with DD bringing a friend who is basically part of the family as they have been best friends since 1st grade. We still do just the 4 of us as well but as the kids older / more independent, especially the girls, they are not as likely to want to hang 24/7 with mom & dad as much.
.

My oldest is only 11, but I realize that teenage years are close by.

Good job with Aaron on the podcast. Enjoyed listening to it out on the balcony early this morning. The Ankole seemed to also enjoy it.

]

I do have an effect on animals. Kudos on the father/daughter time. I do look forward to those days, although, still got to survive teenage years first.

Got to go in for a doctors appointment today, need to refill my meds. Fully expecting to get yelled at for the usual stuff (weight etc). Then off to work... What a fun day...:rotfl2:

Just yell back. It works for me.

Can you see the diamond in a $200 pair of earrings?:.

I think the ones i bought for DW were 1/4 or 1/2 carat for around that price - from a store, not from a guy wearing a trenchcoat. But, that is all i can afford. I know DW didn't marry me for my money. I guess she just didn't have anything else better to do.

‘Morning all…

Oh wait, technically it ain’t morning any more.

“Afternoon all…

Morning Guys.

Sent DS off on his first school trip this morning. We are kid-free until Sunday night. :cool1:

This morning was suppose to be a quiet one here at work but in the first 30 minutes I scheduled 2 meetings for later today. :cool1:

Have a good one.

Enjoy the quiet.
Where are the young’ens headed off to?

Morning guys.:coffee:
I missed a couple of days and ended up 15 pages behind; so I am going to just skip to the end and rejoin the conversation here.

Works for us.

If something important got said…
It’ll likely get re-said at some point.

As prepared as we are going to be...I suspect I'll recycle my bit from last August trip, where every shop we entered I'd exclaim to the girls "BEST SHOP EVER!" :rotfl2:

:lmao:

Sometimes it makes more sense to travel through the parks via the interconnected gift shops anyway. It’s certainly part of my heat-n-humidity management strategy.

My boy is doing that whole cap and gown graduation thing in a couple of weeks as well.
Just not for finishing Pre-K (that was a good long while back). Congrats to the G-Man.

Bigger congrats to you for being able to blow stuff up and get paid for it.

Even bigger congrats for being given the honor of being part of the flag ceremony at the National Cemetery.
And thank you sir.

Hey Guys! Glad I finally joined ya on the boards. Been having fun on our trips to WDW with my DW and 3 kids. Already helped a few friends plan during spring break and Easter. Love sharing the magic with everyone and of course gets tagged as the Disney nut.
My name is Jeremy and we live 1000 miles north of WDW! We love going down during MNSSHP since its my wife's favorite holiday and offseason. However this year is our 10 yr anniversary and we are cruising in the Bahamas instead of Disney..... I hope Mickey will forgive us. :rotfl2:
Next year I have a conference in Feb for my work and then in June my DD has a dance team parade down Main St USA! So two trips for 2014!!! :cool1::cool1:
Looking forward to getting to know everyone on DIS Dads
Happy planning our next trips!!!!

You'll miss all our intelligence. I might have had another great business idea back there.

I might have; but based on previous experience I will take my chances and skip it.
