Had to read that a couple of times before I could pick my jaw up off the desk.
The first react was: “TEN WEEKS!!!!!”

But as you said, that’s adding everything in.
I get 4 wks vacation and 10 holidays, so by the same standard that’s a total of 6 weeks. We don’t get a specific number of sick days so I can’t add in any more then that. Ten weeks however… that’s to be celebrated. Congrats on being able to take that much of your own life back from the overlords.:

Thanks. It does look like a really big number, but like you said, when you add in everything together, it is now quite as staggering. But, it is still one of the very nice benefits we have and does help maintain my sanity.

So I was cruising along US 17 (Roosevelt Blvd here in Jacksonville, FL) and was stopped at an intersection that has a train crossing for the North-South CSX line that runs parallel to US17.

The lights are flashing indicating an oncoming train....well, some moron pulls around the control arms (in an obvious hurry) and loses the race across with the Southbound Amtrak Silver Bullet.

Sounded like a bomb going off when the train hit even though the engineer locked up the brakes.

Lunch for Mikey was a little late....

Ya’ know, the more you think about it…

railroad_crossing_signal_gif_by_ltgrxr-d5e2773.gif

The more it seems like signs and signals of this type are just entirely too ambiguous to successfully denote to the average human that they really ought to consider just sitting still for a minute or two.

Some folks are just dumb as a sack of hammers…

Apparently that one was convinced that they were far too important a person to be impeded or even bothered by the existence of the rest of the world. Hopefully they survived and now have time to reflect on the notion that just maybe they aren’t actually a god.

They’re also lucky that you were one of the people who saw them learn the lesson.
Otherwise help would have been even longer getting there.

Someone's already said it, but Chicks dig scars:lmao:

Randall...thanks. Wouldn't have it any other way.

People are stupid. That's all there is to it.

I just about ran over a car with a tractor yesterday... and yes, I'd have gone right over the top of it. A car stopped at a stop sign and whipped out right in front of me. We both locked up the brakes and I'm pretty sure her hood was under my radiator when we got stopped. I guess some people have a hard time seeing big things and flashing lights. :confused3

Jim, DD did a great job.

Had a really rough trip up here yesterday. The kid could not get out of bed until I told her I have had it and will leave her behind. Pouring rain from North Dade to Ft. Pierce. So much for renting a convertible. Took forever to get up here.

The Pirate Princess asked for and we did get an upgrade to a Savanna view. Winner! It is one of the least desirable Savanna views but hey, beats a parking lot. We went to Mara for dinner and then hit Victoria Falls for a cocktail and cheese platter. Allowed me to decompress from the drive up.

The plan today was to hit the MK in the am and then EPCOT tonight for dinner at Chefs de France. Again, the kid could not get up so we blew off the MK. Couldn't get mad though because she isn't feeling all that great. She seems to be bouncing back this afternoon. Should be able to make dinner at Chefs and Illuminations if the rain holds off and the show goes on.

Despite the bumps, I'm fully enjoying myself. I'll try to post some pics tonight.

Sorry the ride was a tough one, but at least the destination is a bonus. Sounds like a slow start, but still better than sitting in the office. Hope the Pirate Princess feels better soon. Enjoy the time, who knows how many more trips together you have without that old "boyfriend" tagging along.:lmao::lmao:

Yes, pics please.

I have seen people go around the gates up here as well. I guess Darwin was right and Natural Selection does rule the world. Can't really feel bad for the dumb@$$, but sorry your lunch was late.

Just getting settled back in after an unexpected 3 day weekend. Was getting ready for work yesterday morning when my 13 month old tripped on a dining room chair. He used his face to break his fall, which is never a good idea. Blood all over, and I couldn't tell if it was his chin, a tooth, tongue, etc. To make matters worse, he was eating a raspberry at the time so I couldn't tell if the stuff in his mouth was chewed raspberry or a bloody, mangled tongue. Luckily it was just berry and the only blood source was a gash on his chin. DW took him to the ER while I got the other kids off to school. I met them at the hospital, only to find that they were still in the waiting room because the place was full. After over two hours of waiting, he got his stitches and we were on our way. I didn't want to send him to daycare, so I stayed home with him. A three hour nap around lunch time, and he was back to his normal, daredevil self.

Glad he rebounded quick, and it was nothing serious.

What a *******. Sorry lunch was late, and hopefully no one else was involved or hurt because of that idiot.

Savanna view cures a lot of ills. Now tell her to wake up! You're at Disney! You can sleep later.

:scared1:

It's always amazing what people will do to avoid a couple of minutes' delay.

But, it is a mind numbing government funded job with no hopes of promotion. That time helps me maintain what little sanity I have left.

Hey, I've heard of that before.

See, Mark has that same job fulfilling experience that I do.

Well, I don't get 10 weeks. I get 3.5 weeks vacation and 3 weeks sick time, plus holidays. And I'm one of those weird people that doesn't use sick time as "sick" time, unlike a few others in my office. It is a nice benefit, though.

State Fair this morning. DD did a great job on Kansas from current events to history and Emelia Earhart. DD explained how tornado's are formed, why they are so prevalent in that are and some discussion on how to predict and warn people. With the tragedies the last few days she really did a great job presenting with knowledge and compassion. Proud of her.

Prayers to those effected by the recent tornado's.

Great job :thumbsup2

I packed up my office, even my stapler, and then was told moving day will be Friday. So, I have nothing to do for a few days. So, I went ahead and started preparing the year end report (FY ends June 30) final time hours accounting report. I managed 10 paid weeks of leave this year, including holiday, sick, and vacation time. That's only up a 3 days from last year. I think i need to add 11 weeks of paid leave on my goals for next year's evaluation.

You work too hard

I use my sick days for dr appointment or when I stay home sick or kids stay home sick. How do you use sick time?

You work too hard!!

Absolutely.

Nothing like more work for you.

Don't insult hammers. Hey, cars are way faster than trains.

Your tractor must have blended into the road. Camouflaged tractor?

Not in most cases. The idiot goes unscathed and everyone else suffers the consequences.
