I have been reading on line this morning that there are some ballott issues already in Florida that will rival the hanging chad issue in 2000. CJ...can you please show your fellow Floridians how it is done??? :rotfl:
What makes you so certain that he isn't the problem? :confused3

This brings up an interesting point - what are ballots like everyone else's neck of the woods? Here, we are give a large sheet of heavy paper (probably 11"x20" or so) listing all of the races, referendums, ballot initiatives, etc. Next to each candidate is an arrow with a gap in the middle. You take the black marker that is in the voting booth, fill in the gap in the arrow for the person you want to vote for, then take the ballot to machine next to the door, feed it into the slot, and the reader scans the ballot.

Does anyone use touch screens? Punch cards?

Ours works the same, at least up until 2 years ago it did. Would be interesting to see touch screens...

Just called the Verizon store... the guy who helped me on Saturday isn't in today and the people in there had no idea what I was talking about. :furious: :furious: :furious:

Patience wearing thin. I know what I'm doing with my lunch hour today.

We had a completely different experience at a Verizon store about a year ago. DW as looking for a new phone, but the store we went to was out of stock. The rep called other stores, found one that had stock and told them to hold it for us. Made sure the guy he was talking to was going to be there for the rest of the day and told him to expect us in about 30 minutes. While we were at the next store, the original guy called to make sure we had gotten the phone and everything was working out OK for us!

Good luck with your phone. But more importantly- was there any damage to the tractor tire?:rotfl:

They're probably all sitting in the break room, listening to the story of the guy who ran over his phone with a farm tractor. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

It only burns to breathe so I think I am doing better :lmao: I head back to doc this afternoon to see if I can go back to work or not....we shall see!

Hope you feel better.

CJ may be part of the problem. At his age, it is hard to punch holes in paper cards.

Now y know why he said he would take care of it today. Sorry to hear it.

Ours is similar to you, except we use pencil to color in the arrow. We had those, then went to touch machines, and then back to this system. But, it needs to be electronic because we have counting issues.

We have electronic booths. The screen shows the names of the candidates, and you push a button next to the guy (or gal) you want to vote for. A red light highlights the candidate you selected. Then you push a big "Vote" button at the bottom when you're done to record your vote. So simple, even I can use it.

We have these machines with with an LCD screen that lists the candidates' names in each race with a button out to the side of each name. You just press the button for the candidate you wish to vote for. There's another button that you push to change to the next page or a previous page, then when you're all done, there's a big red button you push to submit your votes.

We used to have a punch card that we had to slip into a holder that looked like a book./ You would turn the page to whatever you were voting on next and only the boxes pertaining to the contest was displayed so you could punch a hole in for the winner...in the last few years...we have once again gone back to coloring in the dot like you Barry and then putting it into a ballott counter that looks like a copying machine. I would like to see voting done the way that Mark described. However, I have read that in NY where that type of system is used there have been cases in early voting that someone would select Romney and it would attempt to cast their vote for Obama instead. Each way has pros and cons it sounds like. Just going to vote is the important thing!!:thumbsup2 I honestly wish the electoral college was done away with and that he who wins the popular vote wins the election!!

No, it is fine. :rotfl::rotfl2::lmao:

I know for a fact that I'm not the first one they've had. You should see the "industrial" Casio Boulder that a customer of ours dropped out in the parking lot here. A few 80,000 pound semis made that one almost unidentifiable. :rotfl2:

Well, he was supposedly making notes about everything he'd started doing for me, so it had better be there. If not, I'll do whatever I can to get a functioning phone this afternoon, and if I'm not satisfied, I'll speak with a manager and/or return at a later day when Rick is working and have a little chat with him. :thumbsup2

Ours is like Mark's. Very simple. I'm waiting for the day they hook these machines up to the internet so I can cast my vote from home! :lmao:

AH, I am getting used to the Bears victory Mondays!

We press buttons. Where I live in The Region the motto is "vote early and often" :rotfl: I think DW's grandparents are still on the voter registry and they both passed over 10 years ago.

I was going to try to be funny about this nemie, but it looks like everyone beat me to it. :rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao:

Don't want to :stir:, but what happened to the Fins yesterday? I was actually rooting for them since the Pats were off.

.

Thanks to the bears victory, bud Adams finally woke up and realized things with my team needed to change big time, so it was worth the loss

Around here we watch the tv and either ryan seacrest or tom bergeron gives us a telephone number to call that corresponds to who we want to vote for. I think there is also a text option (only certain wireless carriers) and an online option.
