Morning Gents.

Off to soccer for 2 games today. DS's team has a league game and a inter-provincial game in what looks to be another hot, sunny day.

later all.

This is one we should def. enforce. :thumbsup2

Um, I was being very nice to Boston. Hmm, reassess? Or watch Boondock Saints?

Another feud is brewing. Don't let it turn into Hatfields and McCoys. Or, maybe do and then get money for a tv show about how you live.

Cool. Surprised by the pink color. Not sure how many women are flocking to wear that one.

Our new washer came today, already had a plumber here, tomorrow it's time to make our 1st service call:scared1: Something just ain't right it's a High Efficiency washer nothing like we had but for some reason it will not let the hot water come in:confused3, Plumbing wise it's all clear:confused3

I can't figure out how to use the new machines, and I do the laundry here. Not the DW likes it, but what she doesn't know won't hurt her. She likes to divide up the laundry into all these piles. I just empty the hamper into the machine.

We do that silly stuff here. I thought soccer was supposed to be a cool weather sport. Good luck and keep cool.

Enjoying a nice quiet morning. Everyone else is still sleeping here and I am enjoying some quiet this AM with some coffee. We are thinking about going to Nashville this weekend for Opry Mills Mall and RFC. I sent a PM to one our newest member's close to that area, but haven't heard back yet. Hope he gets this. Or, maybe he did get it and he did the smart thing and ran away. :lmao:

Was driving all last week at work but in the onslaught on email, there is a big change to happen at work. We have a 3 day series blocked out in September to bring us all up to date on the changes, which would be 1/2 day to cover the changes, and 2 1/2 to listen to everyone whine. No personnel cuts expected and I'm sure no pay raises will be happening, but workloads will be re-assigned. :crazy2:

Parade of Nations was a bit long but otherwise it was very good. They told a great story.

Agreed - but we PVR'ed it live... so we fast forwarded it through most of the parade...

Also watched part of the NBC pre-recorded feed - and noticed they edited out some of the ceremonies.

My kids loved the Mr. Bean Chariots of Fire segment.... :thumbsup2

Just got to downtown Chicago. Time for dis dads meet

‘Morning all…

I didn't care much for alcohol either... Until I went off to school. Just thought I'd point that out, nemesis.

I have considered that likelihood.
Unfortunately we have reached one of those points where all we can do is trust that we raised him right. It's up to him now to either prove us right or wrong.

Faith is a tough business no matter where you have to apply it.

Oh… and thanks for all the nemesesy consideration.
It’s good to know that you’re appreciated (even if it’s only as a punching bag).
I ought to be tossing spitballs back at ya’, but right now…
I just hope you see some appreciable rain. Soon.

Very cool...

One of the best Olympic Opening Ceremonies I've ever seen.

“Eccentric” would be the word that cropped up in my mind.
But then again, that’s a fitting tribute to the Brits.

The gag that had Rowan Atkinson performing with the LSO, and the spot where a Mary Poppins army saved the world from the nightmares of children…
those particularly fit the definition.

I also snickered at a point in one of the montages where they snuck in just enough of the Sex Pistols tune: “God Save the Queen” to ensure that you knew what it was with out actually airing the next line in the tune.

Wink, wink… nudge, nudge… say no more…

Got 3 years parts and labor:thumbsup2, plumber (was easy to get over here since he lives a block away:thumbsup2) had to install new shut off's since when they took it apart one of the shut offs started leaking at the handle when you turn it on, but we used the new hoses they brought so everything is under warranty, I'm thinking my wife didn't read the directions right or something:confused3, it's covered so if everything is working right at least my wife will get a lesson on how this machine works:lmao: The cold water works fine, also the automatic load sensing is not working

Seems like a lot more trouble then you ought to be having with a new device.
Hopefully it’s all simple little things and it gets straightened out quickly.

Hopefully that didn’t surprise you.

Consider it from our point of view…
we don’t get the option of seeing what actually happened.
We only get what Big Business wants and only after that we get what they “think” we want.

(translation: coercion to spend money, and jingoism).
:sad2:

Editing - did not suprise me at all... Not so much that they want you to see what big business wants you to see... but more for the fact, that they try to pair it down to fit a time slot.

But what shocked me - was that it was not available LIVE for you.

In Canada it was LIVE, and also replayed at night, for those who may have missed it in the afternoon.

Would they pre-record the superbowl, or any other sporting event? I think not... so why pre-record the opening ceremony?
They allow The OSCARS to go live - even though that doesn't adhere to a time slot (as much as they try).

I would have thought about joining you guys but we have a lot to do today. Its Germanfest in Milwaukee and me and the DW have to be seen to help our standing with the German clubs. Plus DFIL still has my iPass from last week, really need to just get him one.

Have a great time and maybe next time I will join in the fun.

8,036 days ago I married the one women who stole my heart.Over the years she no longer had to steal it,as I have given it to her freely. I would be lying if I came on here and said that the last 22yrs (for those of you that could not do the math ) have all been a bed of roses. There have been some good yrs and some bad yrs. But I can say that if I could go back in time, I would choose to marry my lovely wife all over again.I have spent over half my life with you and hope to finish out my life with you. I love you Debbie Apsche Finsel !! Happy Anniversary.
This is a post I made on FB today. This post pretty much is similar to me being here on the Dis. Back in 07 I joined the DDC and met you guys in here. Over the years some of us have grown to be friends. We have laughed in here, gotten mad in here and even cried (this will be a tough one for some to admit).I consider the DDC one big family.A big Family that I am proud to say I am a part of !! Heres to many more years of the Family

I know this wasnt fancy but maye for my 3000 I will say more

Didn't surprise me at all with NBC. At least I don't think they are trying to put it over as "live" anymore.

I heard Bob Costas in an interview a couple of month ago saying it would be impossible and impractical to show it live in the US. I had to chuckle thinking it was funny that in Canada we always are able to see live events and we are geographical in a pretty similar location. It also made me remember that Bob Costas is an idiot (sort of like our very own Brian Williams). Will NBC's coverage include Chris Collinsworth (or NBC idiot #2 as I call him)?

This morning's soccer game ended in a 4 - 4 draw. About to head out for game #2.

Well said on both counts. Happy anniversary.

Big upset today. USA beats S.Korea in Team Archery.

my DD and I got a birdhouse to paint today and she made me so proud she painted Jack Skellington on the back, and of course my cars in the shop getting tires & brakes when AirGoofy is in town, hopefully we can still meet up with him and his family before they leave.
