A couple of day’s ago the wife and I were talking about plans for this summer and I mentioned that a couple of y’all had gotten a hold of a PIN from the Land of Mouse. We both agreed that it would be better if we didn’t receive such this year as your addiction to Disney travel would likely throw any plan we were trying to make into disarray.


It’s like they have my house bugged or something…
I get home from work last night and right on top of the day’s stack of mail was a WDW mailer, with one of those bloody PINs inside. I spent the evening doing the numbers and tearing apart the calendar only to realize that I probably can’t use the blasted thing.


But now I’m going to be compelled to completely price out every aspect of our current plans and compare them to a fully priced out trip down to the World.

I’m certainly not the best at it, but adding to mine is one of the ways I go about not loosing what’s left of my feeble mind. Be glad you have more important things that need looking after.

There's always room for a Disney vacation.

What was the pin? Dates? Restrictions? Etc?

It’s similar to some of the general offers out there, but includes summer dates (which is the only time I can realistically travel).

Basically its 20% of room rates at a couple of the values, or 25% at most of the moderates or 30% at a few of the Deluxe and a couple of DVC locations. If I bought tickets separate and kept to the QS sites for meals, it really would be a good deal, but…

My employer has very harsh restrictions on when I can travel, DS has school commitments that start in mid July and DW has no vacation time, so we have to factor in loss of her salary. Realistically I can only travel the third week of June and that’s about it. I already had a plan for how to use that time this year. It would become and either/or situation. If I got to WDW, I really have to cancel the other plan. That’s why I’m going to price everything in detail and see what the better deal is. I know what I’d rather do, but I need to do what’s more economical and pleases the most folks. More thought will have to go into this one

Wow. I am thankful for a job that does not restrict my vacations like that. Sound like you have a win/win situation regardless of where you are going that week.

Just think, you are so close, that by the time you arrive, you'll almost be ready to leave and return back to your normal, monotonous boring life.

We're there for a week. 31st till the 7th of April. We'll be home in time for Easter this year which will be the first time we've been home for Easter in about 5 years.

Monday 2nd - DHS - Dinner at O'Hana
Tuesday 3rd - MK - BBB at 11a - Lunch at CRT
Wednesday 4th - MK - Breakfast at Chef Mickey's
Thursday 5th - Split Day AK Morning/EPCOT Afternoon - Dinner at Teppan Edo
Friday 6th - MK - Dinner at 1900 Park Faire
Saturday 7th - Early Flight Home 7:30a.

Well, Got my 2nd estimate for re shingling the roof. The cheapest was $600 dollars more than the last estimate. I have 2 more estimates Im waiting on, then I will see how much is lift for the mouse.

Actually I am very thankful to be working at all. So I’ll just deal with the restrictions. As for August… I’d love to, but like I said, school really starts for our son in July and is in full swing by early August. As a rising senior, I can’t justify taking him out for any extended period.

Y’all have got me thinking. Maybe I need to come up with a different way to skin this cat. Originally we were trying to put together an expansive road trip that stopped once or twice a day and only traveled about four or five hours at a crack. The basic plan is still in flux, but looks a bit like his…

I’d have been disappointed if you said otherwise.

I like it too… that’s what it’s still currently Plan-A, and If I don’t do that one this year, it will get done soon (once Max graduates, our scheduling options open up dramatically). The idea of Plan-B just needs to be re-examined to determine feasibility, economy and the all important potential addition of at least a little Disney Magic.

$6700 thru resale contract. It's more affordable than you think.

If you add $500 a year for dues for 30 years, then that is $15,000 in annual dues. Plus the original cost is $22,000. That is a lot of money. But, I plan to go on vacation for the next 30 years. Now, I get to spend the week at the Boardwalk for less than a $1000 a year per trip. If you are able to get a pin code every year, then you can probably get the same pricing at a value of moderate resort. But, we get to stay at the Boardwalk. I don't consider DVC an investment and it is not for everyone. I just look at it as pre-paid vacation at an extra special resort location every year.

First Congrats on it going through. To your post I say yep, yep, yep. I would also add that if not for DVC, I would not have taken DD and her friends for her Sweet 16 BD to WDW and stay in a Grand Villa (that may not be a plus). I would also not be going to Hawaii this summer. Plus about 15 years of vacation memories.

Also agree that it isn't for everyone. It works for us. Won't tell you what we paid in 1996 but it was the best money I ever spent. But then again, I am a poster child for DVC.

Well if you find yourself in Times Square on that friday or monday between 6pm and about 9pm, walk up to the windows at the NASDAQ building. I'll be inside!

Used to go to many meetings near there. If you see a guy that looks like he is cold with a teenage daughter taking a pic of you, that will be us. Will try to stop by and wave hello. Staying at the W which is a bit further uptown but we will be going to the theater a couple of nights. Can't wait to get to the Big Apple again.

I love to do those ghost walking tours when I'm in an old city on business. Done them in Boston, Savannah, and Williamsburg. So much fun!

Plus, my grandmother was born in Shanghai and grew up in China and Guam. Tons of old ghost stories from her!

Did both the Savannah and Williamsburg ghost tours. They are fun.

For some reason, there seemed to actually be a little bit of interest in this yesterday, so now that you've made the mistake of encouraging me, here's a couple of farm pics from today. Dad had my tractor and cultivator so I was in his tractor disking corn stalks today. Didn't have my passenger with me any though. He was spending quality time with his aunt.

There's the Green I was expecting to see.

John Deere right? See I was paying attention to Tractor Talk. Andy, keep the pictures coming through the growing season. Would be interesting to see how my corn at Publix gets there. Hope it is a great year for the farm.

We are stoping by there this summer. First about 12 days in Hawaii and then 5 days at DL. Really looking forward to it. Won't have a car but found out they have a pass for Universal that includes transportation. May also do that.

Diabetic here, too, and I know how you feel. My DW brought home the irresistible Cadbury Creme Eggs a couple of days ago.

I thought this was Dave, but the level of technological sophistication is a stunning step up from the level he himself assigned himself. So, either, "Well done!" or "Okay, Pod Person, what have you done with Dave?"

and here I thought my 2 adults, 2 kids in the BLT studio would be cramped!!

I was thinking of just asking if we could be upgraded at check-in I should research special requests for BLT park view studios.

For the studios, you pretty much have to be on the north side to see the park. The BLT TPV room I had last May (on the south side) had a view of MK only from the far left of the balcony. I was told that if I wanted a better view, I should have gotten a 1BR or better room. Niiiiiiiice customer service.
